Danielle Ralston shares ways to make admin days less tedious: wear playful accessories like Mickey ears or a tiara, work from different spots like Starbucks or outdoors, and add small rituals to routine tasks to boost motivation and make them feel less boring.

So how do I make my admin days fun? I get my favorite Mickey ears. I get my favorite tiara out because while it seems really stupid, dress for what you wish you were doing. I would love to just be a queen and somebody else feeding me grapes and bringing me unlimited amounts of very yummy coffee that I don't have to make myself and not be doing all of the boring tasks that I need to do. So I just make it a little more sparkly and fun. Sometimes it's Mickey Mouse ears. Sometimes it's Donald Duck ears. Sometimes it's Yoda ears. Whatever it is that you need to make it fun, change your location. Go to Starbucks, go to McDonald's, go sit outside on your deck, go to the park, go to Disney World and work for a few hours to get some of those boring tasks done. Find something that changes your situation to make it more fun, because if you make it more fun, you look forward to it every week and you want to get the thing done. It doesn't matter where you do your admin tasks as long as you're working on them.
