When hiring firms to handle DEI work, pick ones genuinely connected to the communities they serve. Managers often overlook this, but it matters for authentic results across companies of any size.

And I don't care what level you're at, whether you're a small business, medium business, or multi-billion dollar company, be really careful in if you're looking to hire a company to come in and support with your DEI initiatives, your accommodations, your productivity and things like that. Hopefully you'll be able to hire somebody who is more well supported by the community that you actually need that support for. So all of those things are so, so, so important. And it's something that we often forget about, especially as managers or as I mean, just people in the community ourselves, things like that.
