Danny Walsh walks near Independence Rock in Colorado to explain how to position yourself on social media. He says you are the brand, and you should share interesting, real moments from your life to inspire people and attract contacts. Consistent, authentic content beats behind-the-scenes filler.

So in this video, I just thought I'd walk and talk. Currently walking down a trail back from Independence, which is a big rock formation that's kind of famous in Colorado. And I want to talk to you a little bit just about how you're positioning yourself on the Internet, on social media, the things that you're sharing and the things that you're doing, and how are you inspiring others to, you know, be more active, be more little lizards just run past. It's pretty cool, right? You know, you've got to be positioned, right? And I see a lot of people on social media, indeed, who are positioning themselves totally wrong. And people talk about branding and the importance of branding. You are the brand, right? So it doesn't matter if you want to wear a silly hat like me, you can. You know, that's kind of like a bit of branding, right? You don't have to have the exact same colour, the exact same logo, the exact same thing on everything. It's about positioning and it's about showing people that you're actually a real person and real people are interesting. And the more you can make yourself seem interesting or people want to be inspired by you, right? So if I'm out and I'm posting videos and telling you what I'm up to and where am I going and all the things that I'm doing, it's a little bit more interesting than what you don't see. So you don't see me sort of slaving over the laptop, you don't see me clicking stuff on the back end of some website or typing out an email. You see me doing the things that I think are interesting and inspiring. And when I do that, people get inspired, they get interested and they contact me and they're like, how do you do what you're doing? And that's all around positioning. So you're positioning yourself in the face of other people who are watching you and following you. Just because they're not liking what you're doing doesn't mean that they're not watching, right? So it's important that you continually turn out good quality content, because if you're doing something anyway, you know, I've come for this walk and we're walking here anyway. It's beautiful. We're here anyway. You might as well document that and turn that into mini content. Does that make sense? So just walking down, just thinking about it a little bit, how is this helping me position myself as a marketer, as somebody who helps people online with the business and all this sort of stuff. Clearly I'm sort of traveling the world. I'm out and about. I'm working with different people, working with different clients that just every time you put something out you share something, something fun, something interesting, something exciting. People are going to get attached to this and resonate with what you're doing and they're going to want to contact you. So if you're sort of mundane and you're not putting much out on your social media page, who's gonna know what you do right? Who's gonna know the things that you're up to? Let's be careful here because there's a big sort of cliff edge that you don't want to fall down while you're doing a silly video off of social media. But the point is positioning is everything, right? You are the brand. People will contact you if you allow them to see into your world. Go get it. Go do it. I'll see you later.
