Day In The Life Of A West Texas Media Company (Content Day) | Vlog #1

The vlog follows Darren, Naomi, and Mike from a West Texas media company as they travel from Abilene to a Lake Whitney Airbnb to film a day’s worth of content for a client’s social‑media marketing. The team documents the entire production process: loading gear, driving, scouting the property, shooting hot‑tub, pool, fishing, and drone footage, and discussing the purpose of each shot. Throughout the video, they share casual banter, jokes, and personal anecdotes, while also explaining their workflow for batch‑creating social‑media assets, the importance of authentic, entertaining content, and practical advice for small‑business owners on using platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. They highlight their equipment (iPhone 13 Pro Max, gimbal, commercial‑certified drone), mention their certification and upcoming thermal‑camera work, and wrap up by packing up and heading back, reinforcing the fun and collaborative nature of their “funnest job on the planet.”

Do you have any advice for the people?
Just live life, uh, find a job that is, uh, you know, bro, that was huge. What was it, bro?
I don't know, something like— What is up, people? We're going to Waco for a trip, check it out. Who's in the back seat?
Is there smoking in here?
Content day, we are recording it, we're vlogging it, it's gonna be fun. Watch Mike chug this whole water bottle.
Go, go, go! Bet you can't! Mama didn't raise no punk! Go, go, go, go, go!
Anyways, all right, we will see you soon.
I made glizzies and nobody will hand me one.
Rock is off, babe. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey! Miss Modelo time, eh? Miss Modelo time! I'm just kidding, we don't drink here. Could someone tell him to quit videoing me, please? All right, I'm going to tell you a little bit about what we're doing. Actually, today we're going to Waco to film some content for an Airbnb. It's gonna be fun. This is what we do. We go, we take our lovely actors like Mike to do fun things like get in hot tubs, get in pools, get on the jet skis. We get content, and this will be enough content for the next I don't know, 2 months, and we'll film it, we'll edit it, we'll put it up on social media for our client. Yeah, that's pretty much what we're doing today, and it's a 3-hour drive from Abilene, so we're having to travel, which is great. We love traveling. Made it to the house. As you can see, we are getting some content. There's a little cove in the back. We're gonna go and walk down to get some cool fishing shots there. But yeah, if you want a place to stay that's pretty cool on the— on Lake Whitney This is it. Some cool backyard stuff going on here. We got a hot tub over there. We got a campfire area. And right down here you can go straight to the lake. So pretty cool. Pretty cool. Good stuff. Our job is like the funnest job on the planet. So maybe a little hot outside, but it's all good, man. We're getting it done. We're getting some plans together.
Always.
What's the first thing we're shooting?
Mike.
We're shooting Mike.
This way you got the best one. I'm videoing, not actually.
No, I said what I said. What did you just do in the bathroom? That was such a good idea.
I laid in it because I feel like when Darren and I travel, our number one question is, I wonder how big the bathroom is.
Now they know.
Now they know. I even— I'm so short, I couldn't even like— this is awesome.
People—
Wait, if you need somebody to make your bathrooms look extra big, I'm 5 foot tall, so I can really sell it, right?
People need to stop being boring with their videos, so we have to be creative and think outside the box, which is why— Wait, Mike!
Oh wait, what if we go in here and it's before going to the lake, and then I put on all the goggles and the sunscreen and walk out the door? This door, because that's showing that they have like the sunscreen closet. This thing—
Look at this, she's a content monster! Naomi, what's— what rig do you have going there?
Uh, you're giving me the gout. I feel stressed by your behavior. Okay, it's a 13. I'm shooting with an iPhone 13 Pro Max.
iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Nothing fancy, fam.
What do you have on there? What's that?
Yeah, this is a gimbal. Darren gave it to me and taught me how to use it. Keeps everything nice and stable and even so your videos don't look like this.
Check out Mike's outfit. Hey, go give Mike a follow on Instagram. What's your Instagram?
Waterfront Yoga.
@m_a_03 on Instagram.
What's your Venmo name?
Uh, Venmo me, it's @hotdogwater03.
@hotdogwater03. All right, today we had a couple of episodes that went out. For our clients on YouTube and Spotify. So I gotta send them some clips so they can promote this thing. So that's what I'm doing. Get logged on to the Wi-Fi and get after it. All right, so we keep a list of everything we're gonna film.
Yes.
Do you have the list?
It's on my phone charging.
On her phone charging because her phone is dead. We usually keep track of everything we're gonna film that day whenever we're batch creating. We keep a list, we go— it's only— we've only been at this property for like 2 hours and we've knocked out like almost a month of content so far. So it's going good. Keep track of your ideas, especially whenever you go to post. And then when you're— they're being vulgar over there. Best job in the world.
Best job in the world. You're supposed to be sleeping. Why? Stop it!
We are headed down to the COVID and getting the drone here. Mike, Mike is set up down there at the COVID and he has a floaty, he has some fishing poles. It's a good time, good time to be alive doing content shoots today. Look at this, guys, look at this. Proceed at your own Risk. Good stuff. Pero anyways, let's just try to go down this crazy-looking hill without dying. Okay, I have a very expensive camera in my hands, a very expensive drone in my hands. This is just one of the fun parts of media. You don't really know what's gonna happen until you're there. So one of the— let's see, what do y'all want to know about social media? One of the reasons we go above and beyond for our clients like this is because we're not a big fan of boring marketing. We love to make creative videos. We love to make interesting content because in 2024, people need to be entertained online. If I don't die—
look at this.
Oh my goodness, Mike's down there. People want to be entertained, you know. People are there for themselves on TikTok. They want to laugh, they want to learn. They don't want to be sold to or anything like that. They don't want to be sold to. They, um, oh my goodness, this is literally— anyways, back to me. They don't want to be sold to, you know. They just like authentic relationships. They like authentic videos, content, really want to get to know you. That's why YouTube is becoming such a large and popular platform right now is because long-form content lets you really get to know the creator, lets you really get to know the brand, the company, the vision. People like Mike, we have a podcast, it's called the Howdy Podcast. We are on all the major platforms, but we do some funny stuff, we do some educational stuff. Uh, we're going to be teaching more about social media because everybody needs to know about social media, especially if you're a small business owner. Especially if you're an entrepreneur. It's super important. How important is social media for businesses, Mike?
It's make or break. You either have a good business with good social media, or you have a bad business because you have no social media.
I mean, it is basically the only way to tell if you're an actual business nowadays. Like, if somebody is telling you, or if Google recommends you as a business, or like if you're a restaurant, for example, If you discover a restaurant and you want to know more about it, you're gonna go look it up. Where? You're gonna look it up on Facebook, you're gonna go look it up on Instagram, YouTube, Yelp. And if you're not there, if you don't exist online, more than likely they're gonna think it's a fake store, that nobody goes there, there's no reviews, so they don't know if it's good or not. Anyways, that's my, that's my talk for, for this little walk down these crazy stairs. Now we're gonna get this drone set up here and we're gonna shoot it up in the air. Mike's gonna hop on this thingy-ma-bob. He's gonna get in the water. He's gonna go up there, float a little bit. It's gonna be a good time, and I'm gonna follow him with the drone. So here we go. Anything for the content, right, Mike?
Yeah, that's what they tell me. He told me he wouldn't feed me dinner if I didn't get in the water.
He's right, I'm not gonna feed him dinner if he Doesn't get in the water. Drone footage is always amazing, especially in places like this where you get to show off the property from the bird's eye view because nobody ever gets to see it from up there and it is gorgeous.
I'm kind of living over here, bro. I feel great.
He said, "I'm living over here." Anyways, yeah, drones have changed the game and we are actually certified drone pilots. So if you're needing anything done as far as like surveying goes pictures, videos. We're about to get into the thermal camera world. Yeah, let us know, man. We'd love to, love to help out. We are certified to fly commercially, so that helps out. Um, we can get paid legally to fly drones, and we know all the maps and all the tricks and tips to keep things safe on site. So yeah, good times. We're gonna get Mike out of this water, head back up to the house get a last few clips that we can use for their social media, and then we're gonna head back to Abilene. So let's do it. Do you have any advice for the people?
Just live life, uh, find a job that is, uh, no, bro, that was huge. Get out. What was it, bro?
I don't know, some like big fish or an alligator or something.
Arafat, I don't really want to die today.
Oh my gosh, nice. Let's try not to die here, huh? Yeah, boy.
There's no wine in here and I want it, and I don't normally want it. I don't feel like these are fit working conditions, and I just didn't get I'm ready to live this way. Can y'all sit up right here and hang out? Yes.
I'm gonna get one to kind of show them.
Oh, it feels good to get out. It's cooler out here. Okay, what are we doing?
Okay, one more. 3, 2, 1.
How is it?
Perfect.
Good. I'm currently working for my husband in 100-degree weather, and this hot tub's 102, and there's no wine in this cup. How are you doing? I took this job because I love the people at this company, and I'm really holding on to that right now. At least we have each other.
We just finished up. Holy moly, it's hot out here. It's Texas. Texas, y'all. We just finished up content shoot. We're gonna go ahead and pack up and then head to Sonic to get a wonderful ice cold drink. Smells like a really clean Lowe's bathroom in here, Naomi says. All right, good job today, team. Say what up.
Thanks, we did it. We're headed home.
We did it. We are on the way back to Abilene, gonna stop at Sonic, get a nice ice cold beverage, and head back. What do you think, Mike? You ready to be back? Yeah, it's a little hot. All right, we're gonna go take this footage, edit it, post it for the next 2 months for them, and giddy up. We'll see y'all in the next one.
