Howdy Podcast. There's no such thing that makes my heartbeat so fast. Making all of the people smile and laugh on the Howdy Podcast.
Put a nice kickflip.
Good one.
Howdy Podcast.
What's up guys, welcome to the Howdy Podcast. Today we have on the podcast Mubs.
Mubs.
Mubs, welcome to the Howdy Studio. Welcome to the show. I've been so eager to have you.
Thanks for having me, and welcome to my presence, honestly, for you.
Yeah, I appreciate it.
Shout out to Celsius for not sponsoring our video today. Um, we've been having to negotiate, so Del Hago.
Yeah, yeah.
So today we're actually drinking Celci instead of Celsius.
Yeah, there you go.
Mose, how have you been? You know, I like your outfit.
I like—
well, you know, I just got off, off of work at the janitor supply place. You know how I am, just cleaning house, just cleaning things, just brooming and mopping, you know.
Is that better? This is unhinged.
Bing bong, bing bong.
Mike, I pay the big bucks so we don't have issues.
There we go, we got a thumbs up. We can keep chatting.
I'm sorry about Mike, by the way.
It's okay, I'm sorry about him too. Honestly, he—
yeah, I need to find a replacement. Yeah, well, maybe I'll just get on Fiverr and look up like Fiverr, just general assistant.
Craigslist gets hairy.
$2 an hour.
Yeah, that's fine.
I mean, find better, more qualified workers, honestly.
Yeah, well, you know, you never know.
He doesn't speak English, so that's why it's troublesome.
Yeah, I have a friend like that. Um, his name's Michael. It's crazy. Same thing.
Yeah, same thing.
Mike and Michael. That's, that's wild. Anyways, yeah, no, so, so good, man.
What do you have to nowadays?
Yeah, well, um, just with the—
by the time this is released, I mean, it's already out. I mean, I put out this song called Closer Sooner. Okay, just this awesome love song that's got me going. It's got me driven. It's pretty awesome.
It's a—
I would go as far to say it's a bop, but I'd also go to say it's a banger, you know what I'm saying? It's a banger but not a bop, you know? All Glory to God. It's a pretty great song. All Glory to God. I mean, he gives me the, the phalanges to do these things.
What's it about?
Um, not about God at all, but it's just about like stupid love.
You angle that towards your mouth a little bit. I don't know what the heck Mike is thinking.
It's like falling.
Here, pick it up.
Yeah, there we go.
Is that too high?
Is that too hot or high? Yeah.
Okay.
No, new song coming out. So yeah, it's already out right now. It's got a cool little pink and like hearty, lovey, uh, cover. I'm working on that, but I'm working on new music. I mean, I put an album out last year, little Chasing Wind with the headphones on the COVID you know.
Yeah.
But, um, I just love making music. It's been fun. I mean, yeah, I, I have a lot of help. Like, it has the indie feel to it, but I have people that are my second set of ears. I have people that are producers and mixers and all that stuff, so I don't do it all myself. But the Mubs, yeah, legacy is expanding.
So do you have like a whole orchestra? You like, you use the baton?
I use the, uh, Abilene Philharmonic. No, I'm kidding.
You use the baton?
Yeah, I got a job.
And yeah, okay. I've been chasing wind. Yeah, because my songs are so complex that you have to have conductors.
I used to play the, um Trombone in high school.
Yeah, you could feature on my next album.
You're like, I was last year.
Well, you can feature on the demo tapes. No, honestly, I feel like it's the opposite. I feel like my songs are pretty approachable. So I've been working hard on these new ones, but honestly, this year of songs is kind of just like a random mixtape. It's like I'm just gonna put together what I can and like I'm I'm not going to perfect them. I'm just like, whatever naturally happens is what I want people to hear.
Um, you know, Mubs, do you have a— do you have a last name?
Um, yeah, it's— well, it's kind of like Mario. Like, my first name is Mubs and then middle name Mubbin, last name Mubs. It's like Mario Jumpman Mario, you know what I'm saying?
I've never—
that's Mario's full name for those that are out there. He has a—
he has a—
that's his full name. That means his brother's name is Luigi Mario though, and Luigi always gets the short end of the stick.
He sucks though, yeah, to be honest.
Yeah, he's Italian.
He's like my least favorite Italian.
Yeah, I don't know if I have a favorite Italian, but I'm not gonna disagree with you. Yeah, we need an orange Mario brother, you know, for some representation. We got a red one and a green one, but like, we need a Bob's Mubs. Super Mubs. Mubio.
Super Mubs brother.
Super Mubs brother. Yeah. Yeah.
Wow, man. Mubs, you were a man of many talents. What else do you do?
Well, I mob frequently and I make music.
I just—
I'm always mobbing. I mean, in what—
yeah, he walked in and he was mean mobbing me.
Yeah, bro. You may ask, what is mobbing? Mobbing is a state of mind. Mobbing is a lifestyle. Mobbing is The here, the now, the everywhere, the never. Yeah, the ever. Yeah. So I'm— to be frank, I could get into details, but I just— I'm just mubbin', man. Yeah, I'm vibing, I'm mubbin', I'm driving. I'm—
yeah. Wow, I really wouldn't want the details.
Okay. I mean, I don't know if I could articulate them in the— in terms that you'd understand anyway.
Yeah, I figured. How many instruments do you play?
Um, well, um, as of recently, you know, you got guitar— that kind of goes into different categories— bass, a little bit of— I make noise on keys or like synths, not really like piano. I'm starting to play drums. I do vocals. I can play an ocarina. I can play harmonica a little bit. I can play ukulele.
But most recently, is that part of like your act?
Yeah, I have like a whole table.
I just go and I throw them and grab the next one. So are those like the tricks, like Yeah, MUBZ is like a multimedia magic show, music show. So it's like, how does he play?
You're a magician?
Yeah, and a musician.
And a magician.
Yeah. Oh, but you know what, recently, uh, you're a musician.
Yeah.
Is that not what I said?
Uh, pass. No, but recently I've been adding on a new instrument.
So like, can you bring the bunny out of your hat?
Oh, um. Not currently.
Not right now, but like, yeah, no, I can work on that.
You know, I'm gonna put that in my set just for you. We're gonna play Make a Disco, everyone's gonna clap, and then after not wearing a top hat the entire time, I'm just gonna pull out a top hat on stage and there's gonna be a bunny inside. Yeah, but it won't even be impressive because since I have to wear the headphones, you know, I can't put a top hat over the headphones.
And so why do you have to wear headphones?
You can't mob without headphones. Without the Orange Mobs headphones, I mean, so it's the way of the mob.
It's the way of the mob.
It's the way of the mob. You can trademark that.
So how did you get into Magic?
Um, well, I watched a lot of David Blaine.
Have you seen him survive in— what is it, ice?
Yeah. I've done that before.
A long time.
Yeah, you know, one time I was mopping the floors of the halls, you know, as I do at my job as a janitor.
So speaking of janitor—
oh, oh, what's that?
So yeah, what is this?
Well, so me and some buddies, we were thinking like, you know, Abilene is a messy place, like we need to clean more up. So we're, we're doing what we call the spring cleaning show. So Friday, April 26th on the Hardin-Simmons campus in the BSM courtyard. We're getting rid of a bunch of stuff, selling a bunch of stuff, fundraising, and having live music with support from HONDRO, which is our friend Alex Gouveia's new original music project. So, and then I get to do a full set. There'll be unreleased songs. One of the songs is actually called Flarp. That's crazy.
So we're actually sponsored by Flarp.
You are sponsored, not just so not negotiated.
We're gonna need you to write a song.
About flirt right now, live, right now, on the spot. Okay.
Aren't you a songwriter?
I don't know.
Okay, Mike, first we're gonna need some smoke, dog.
Yeah, smoke.
Can you please, can you please give us some more smoke? Yeah, Mubs is in the house. Okay, okay, is it okay? Okay, okay, okay, that's enough, that's enough. So Mike is actually He has been talking about you coming on the show nonstop. And so actually, Mike, I'm going to have you sit in. His dream is coming true.
Yeah.
Hey, it's actually his Make-A-Wish.
Oh, that's the green skin. It's like—
it's a condition.
Yeah. I'm sorry to hear that, buddy.
Hey, well, we're going to write a song.
It's Mike. Mike. Mike.
Miguel.
Michael. Michael. Mike.
Okay, so in honor of his chloroplastitis, okay, where he turns green unexpectedly, that's his condition.
Mm-hmm.
I'm gonna need you to write a song.
Okay.
Okay. Flarp and chloroplast.
Okay. Okay. I got this.
So like, right, no cut, no cuts, just like no cuts.
This is okay.
Okay. Yeah, we're raw.
I can, I can do this.
Okay, yeah. And it's okay to cry, Mike.
Michael and Flarp, the squish is sweeter than the sound of a harp. Oh, how I love this squishy substance. Howdy, podcast. There's no such thing that makes my heartbeat so fast.
I see Where are we going?
I don't know what's next.
Chloroplast.
Oh yeah.
Oh, I could have done it. Oh, we can redo that verse. Howdy, podcast. There's nothing that makes my heartbeat so fast. It's such a tragedy about chloroplast. Wow. Come on, make a wish and save the kids.
Save Mike.
Save Mike. Save Mike. Save Mike! Save Mike! Come on, join us! Save Mike! Save Mike! Save Mike!
Save Mike!
There's not enough money to save him.
Save Mike!
Save Mike! Save Mike! Save Mike!
Wow.
Howdy Podcast, we love you.
Hey, theme song coming your way.
There you go.
There you go, people. That's Floorplast Howdy Podcast.
That's—
it's one of those slash titles.
It's one of those songs with the slashes. Howdy Podcast. Chloroplast.
Chloroplast.
I don't know if you're making me say weird words that I don't understand, but that's okay.
Thanks for writing that. It's such an honor to have you write the theme song of the Howdy Podcast.
We can get an autograph for him later.
Yeah, okay, Mike, you can go away now. Yeah, please.
It's crazy that you'd think that like Make-A-Wish Foundation is interacting with mubs, but I still have to work like a janitor day job, you know? You don't even think that would add up really, but Yeah.
Well, Make-A-Wish reached out to me and they were like, hey, we have this kid who kind of— he knows how to like log into a computer.
Yeah.
And that was about the extent.
So you're firing him because it was a limited internship with Make-A-Wish Foundation? That's why you're looking on Craigslist and Fiverr? Or am I mixing ideas?
Yeah, Make-A-Wish said he only had 4 months to live.
So my heart hurts for that. Hey, I clean hospital floors too in my janitor days.
Sorry, I'm just getting really emotional.
It's okay, man. I understand. You know, I do a lot of janitor work, as you can tell by the outfit that I definitely haven't bought yesterday.
You know, Mike, Mike, he He knows how to log into a computer, and that's all I could ever ask for in an employee.
Hey, he logs into that computer with his whole heart, man.
And he just scrolls endlessly on Wikipedia, not even knowing what he's reading about.
YouTube Shorts. He tries to do the Wordle, but he doesn't even understand what that is.
He doesn't speak English.
I know. Well, you know, they have like— my starter word is a French word, but I don't—
Okay, on a serious note.
Oh, I was—
we're gonna have a Flarp off. Have you ever heard of a Flarp off?
I don't know that I want to.
Shout out to Flarp. Let's go for sponsoring this video. We have this here Flarp Noise Putty. Okay, ages 3 and up.
I am so— I fit that.
We're qualified.
Yeah, we're qualified.
Um, it's great. Mike doesn't really know how to do it, so I had him He doesn't know how to flarp.
Mm-hmm.
So it's just gonna be me and you.
Okay.
Um, our guests always get the honor of going first. Okay, so we get 3 rounds.
So what are we—
of whatting?
Flarping.
Flarping.
I'm not—
I mean, I know I have— I'm just not sure that I have the facilities to mob and flarp at the same time.
You're on the ram?
Yeah.
Okay, well, you're gonna have to figure it out because—
so I just make the most Impressive display.
You get a flarp and then I get a flarp.
Okay.
And we do that 2 more times.
Okay.
And whoever has the best flarp, the people will comment. I wouldn't smell it.
I'm just getting familiar.
That's been places that you don't want to know.
It's nothing a janitor can't handle. Okay.
Okay. I guess you're right.
Hey, this— I'd like to thank my mom and dad for raising me so well. Um, this next one goes out to you.
Did they teach you how to flarp?
Not particularly.
Okay.
I think they've allowed me to Well, because like, they've allowed me like the freedom to learn how to flarp in my like adult life. Okay, okay, fair enough. I've never really experimented before, so. All right, so.
I'll count you down. 3, 2, 1, flarp. He took the whole flarp. Okay, Mubs, that's enough.
That qualify as one metric flarp? There we go.
It ended up outside of the container.
I've never flarped before. I apologize.
Well, you should start practicing because that was awful.
I'm practicing for my spring cleaning show. There you go. Good. OK. I can work with that.
Give her a good slap.
Yeah.
Give her a good slap.
Do it.
That's enough for another flarp. You can go.
Okay, that, that was yours?
That was mine. I mean, that was mine.
Okay, last chance. Oh, that might have won it, folks.
Oh, L.
Okay, hey, let us know, comment down below who you think won the flarp off. Thanks again.
You can carpet—
you can, uh, you can comment, uh, mubbin' or what's your word?
Make a wish.
Okay, make a wish for Darren. Mubbin' for Jackson, for me.
Yeah, so I've got some goodies. Oh, I brought you more.
Um, oh, I love things.
Yeah, that's on the house.
Oh, I appreciate that.
You're welcome.
This might make an appearance at my house show, uh, my Spring Cleaning Outside concert, April 26th.
So we're gonna do a live taste test challenge.
Okay.
Um, do you prefer apple banana mango or apple banana?
You know, I'm gonna keep it simple, just apple banana today. Yeah, honestly. Appreciate it.
This is for you.
Thanks, dog.
And these are— I had to ship these from, um, Southeast Asia to get them because they've been out of stock in the United States for months.
Okay, well, at least it is still fresh. Or not. It's not expired.
Oh no, no. Yeah, they, they stopped making these like 6 years ago.
Mm, good.
So they've just been in like a Chinese vault.
Mm, that's good. Maybe lightly refrigerated, but you know, I may look short, but when I'm speaking of vaults, you know, when I'm standing on my money, I'm— you think you're short? Just a little bit.
How short are you?
Um, I think I'm 5'5". You know, middle of the road.
I think you're closer to 5'4".
Okay. Well, I'm 5'4.5", but I don't want to get hairy on the details. Gotta round up for convenience.
Speaking of hairy, I like your hairy ball you have.
Well, you know, you picked well. It's a good gift.
That's what we do. Yeah. All right, let's go and crack her open. Crack open a cold one live on the Houndy Podcast.
I think it would be kind of disheartening if we couldn't open a child's snack. I had a little bit of difficulty there.
All right, on the count of 3, we're both gonna— we're gonna have to mub and chug this thing.
We're gonna mub and— dude, we gotta mub and chug.
I still— we're gonna have to mub and chug this thing. Do you have any allergies that we need to know about?
Yeah, I'm allergic to apples and bananas. No, I'm good.
Well, maybe this is for the better.
Yeah. Hey, I'd rather go down on the Howdy Podcast. You know what I'm saying? If there's one way I'm going to go out.
I agree.
Yeah. Okay.
I'll drink to that. All right, Mike, you got to count us down in Spanish.
3, 2, 1. I don't love it. I don't love it. I don't love it. Oh gosh, why are you struggling so much? I'm really certified with mop techniques. If you throw up on the floor, I can mop it up. That was a journey.
Wow, life's a journey. That was really—
she's got it.
You went through all 5 stages of grief and all 7 deadly sins, I think, in that moment.
Feeling in my soul.
I had my emotional support Harry Ball, so it— I think it helped me.
Oh my gosh, that's supposed to happen. I love whenever you chug applesauce and you get the fantastic aftertaste of fog. Mike, you idiot.
Hey, you didn't add that to his resume. He can log into computers.
Very pretty soon.
Oh yeah. He can't understand this, right? We're going to talk about that.
He doesn't understand a thing.
Yeah. He doesn't know that we're— okay. Yeah, that's good. Well, hey, I gotta let—
gracias.
I gotta appreciate the, the, uh, supplyment, supply.
Me, whatever you call it.
Supply of refreshment.
We've got some more goodies, don't you worry.
Okay, so we're just getting started, boys.
This is just— that was the intro.
Okay, um, welcome to the real podcast.
All right, have you ever eaten Mexican candy?
Mhm.
Oh no, Mike brought this from his home country.
Oh gosh, I can't—
can you read that? Can you read that for me?
The whole audience in Mexic— in like In the native tongue?
Yeah, read it in Mexican.
Benny Rindo.
It's probably the whitest Mexican accent I've ever heard.
Well, yeah.
I'm about to throw up.
I'm a janitor, what can you expect?
I mean— I need some Celsius to wash that down.
I'll join you there. If we had anything better than Dasani, I'd drink the water, but—
Just got to be honest, my eyes were burning a little bit from that fog. Maybe because it's anti-non-toxic.
What?
It's not vegan either.
Put ethanol in the fog machine. Yeah, we got an ASMR—
like, what'd you put in the fog machine, like vegetable oil?
Yeah.
All right, smells like we're going to do a taste test.
Yeah.
Of Benny Rendo Mexican candy.
Okay, we got to get it in the mic.
We got ASMR.
Oh, come on.
Mubs Edition.
Taste testing.
Mubs Edition.
Is this— you— have you had these before?
I have never had this before.
No, it looks like a bottle. Okay, I'm noticing bottle. It's giving bottle. Hey, we need to cheers it. It's a bottle shape.
Cheers to Mubs. Cheers to Mubs Concert and Make a Mub Foundation.
Yeah. Making Mubs.
Have you ever thought about starting a foundation called Make a Mub?
Not until this exact moment, but it's already, it's already turning gears.
I think we should. Yeah. Okay. All right, we gotta take one lick.
Oh, lick.
I thought we were gonna maybe bite or—
One lick at a time. Okay, I'm gonna count you down each lick.
Oh, okay. 3, I'm in it.
2, ready? 1.
I don't know what— just, I don't know what that flavor is. I think I'm just gonna pop it in.
It tastes like, hmm, Coke.
All that.
Maybe it's a Coke candy.
Hmm. What is it to me, Michael?
What does this mean?
¿Cómo estás, Michael?
What does that Benny Rendo mean? I know, it's your language. I don't even know.
He's an idiot sometimes.
I flunked out of Spanish class.
So what do you do other than music? Let's get to the nitty gritty here.
Well, besides, um, I wish that I could say I was one of those janitors that's like secretly solving really hard math equations on the board, like Good Will Hunting movie.
Yeah.
But I'm kind of just a mundane janitor. I mean, you know, some people janit— that's the verb— as their passion, you know, but I, I just have to. I mean, Mubs, you know, the Mubs stuff doesn't take off greatly. Don't have a lot of money with that, you know, so you just gotta janit all the time.
So you're a janitor and a magician.
Magician known as Mubs. Yeah, and yeah, mainly, I mean, I've been learning a new instrument.
So, so hold on, but I mean, it's all music, man.
My life is— I mean, what can I say? It's my passion. No, I play the Wordle, play Fortnite, the new Korra stuff. It's pretty cool. I don't play that much Fortnite. Well, like, it's like a collab in Fortnite. I don't play Fortnite a lot, but if I, if I've gamed in my past, it's been more refined specialty items, like—
So you play a game called Fortnite?
Just a little bit. What's that? Um, it's what you call a battle royale. So it's basically like everybody just loses and I just win by shooting them.
Is that when you see the memes about all the little kids being good?
Yeah, like iPad kids that also play Fortnite.
But are you an iPad kid?
No, I probably was when I was little. Yeah, but like iPad that just came out.
They had iPads when you were growing up?
Yeah. Wait, say your birth year.
I thought I was saying that, bro.
You're not a lady, just say it. I feel like you're old enough that it's—
I'm mubbin' not saying it, dude.
Okay, bro, back the mub off, bro. No, I was born, um, for anywhere from the last century to the current day, but somewhere in there. I'm— I forget sometimes. The trials of the infinite mopping, sometimes I just glaze over and lose myself in the reflective tiles. I just forget my own identity. I just get lost in the passion of mopping, you know. But if I do have any free time besides music, besides school, besides the ministries on campus and things like that, okay, I'm pretty social.
Ministries? This is the first time I've heard of ministries.
I have a good friend group. Oh, ministries. Yeah, well, um, Hardin-Simmons campus, the MUBS concert is actually sponsored by the Baptist Student Ministries. Okay, the show.
Um, so, so are you like involved with them?
Yeah, I'm involved with them. Um, a lot of great people over there. And the cool thing about college is that, well, the small college is like if you do one thing, everybody else kind of does that thing, and then you might see them in other things. I know I can think of a bunch of people that like we all do the same like 4 things, or like people Different people overlapping stuff.
Like a cult.
Yeah, it's kind of like a cult, but it's kind of— it's like we don't drink Kool-Aid, we just, um, drink Celsius, drink H2O. Yeah, yeah, sometimes tea to go, you know, that's how— that's my style. Yeah, it's like a cult except for, um, except for what? Except for you replace, um, I don't know, it's like, like, think about like Waco cult, you know what I'm saying? It's like It's like, it's like a cult except for like young people all getting married to the same person. It's like we're all the bride of Christ, we're just like pursuing God. But yeah, and with— but the, you know, you can't level up like in a cult, you know. You ever watch that part of Community when Pierce thinks he's a Buddhist but he's just like, I'm a level 5 laser lotus? It's like, what are you talking— okay, well, I'm gonna move on.
What is this show?
Community. It's about a community college. I connect with it a lot because Every community college has a janitor.
So where do you walk? How do you have time to watch Community with your—
I just do it in class.
You're on the road?
Yeah, I walk, I watch it.
So you're, you're a student too?
Well, I mean, I thought you were a janitor. Why do you think I have to— I make so little money. I'm a student, man. I'm in debt. I got a janitor.
So you janit.
I janit to make up the money. So you keep mobs.
Yeah.
And dubs. I mean, there's a very specific pipeline in everyone's life where I mean, in order to mob, first you must janet. I mean, that's the way of the world.
Wow.
No, but mob started in high school. Just kind of, I like, I was, I went to a, I was homeschooled to be honest, kind of half. It makes a lot of sense.
You were half homeschooled?
Yeah, I went 3 days a week to this co-op thingy. So I had Mondays and Fridays off. So when I had like an extra weekend time or whatever, I would just write stuff.
And they gave you a diploma?
Somehow.
Mike, what are you doing?
We're getting more sunlight in here apparently. I think the fog is like adhering to my glasses. I can't really see anymore. But yeah, no, shut the mob up.
I'm mobbing, bro.
Let me mob first.
Mike, what are we doing? Mike's about to jump out the window. Mike, don't do it.
No, uh, you got a good solid—
the doctors gave you 3 months.
Yeah.
Don't make it zero, Mike.
Are we, are we also lowering the countdown? I feel like it was 4 months earlier. Oh yeah, it just hit, it just hit the other month just today.
Yeah, it just gets exponentially worse. So like the longer he has it, like the worse it gets.
Yeah, yeah.
And the time just diminishes.
No, I get that, I get that. Maybe I can write a song in memoriam after.
Okay.
Yeah, no. That's a good idea.
No free labor here other than Mike.
I think it was William Shakespeare that said—
sorry, what?
I was just gonna say, I think it was William Shakespeare that said, um, uh, live and let die. I think that's what he said. He also said—
no, he said I love rock and roll.
No, he said blackbirds singing in the dead of night. And then he said to mob or not to mob.
That is the mumps chin.
That is the mumps chin.
All right, we're gonna have our last taste test here.
Good.
Mike, can you get me some scissors? Oh bro, you just cut your arm hair with that.
Ew.
Are we gonna get his thing if— can it be transmitted by hair follicles?
Oh no, no, we're not cutting it anymore. We're just gonna take a bite. Can you eat cheese?
I can. Might have to like walk out of the room and—
taste test. Oh, I—
we're going to— you want to Lady and the Tramp it?
No, just take a bite. Okay, don't smell it.
Why am I supposed to be concerned about this?
Okay, it may be expired. I don't know, it's been sitting in that mini fridge for like months.
Cheese is better aged.
Yeah, I agree. Oh, Mike wants to try. If you wait— no, no, he doesn't really know how to eat, so you're gonna have to tear off like a small piece and just kind of feed it. Okay. Put the knife up, Mike.
Yeah, thank you.
Do you want any more of this?
I'm quite fine. Yeah, are you sure? Yeah, I think I'm pretty good. Oh, he's got a pet.
Oh, oh, Mike's got an emotional support animal.
Hey, that's valid, man. Good for you.
Where did you get a rat?
El rata alada.
Remember that from the Batman?
I've never watched Batman, so— Mm-hmm.
I've watched this really sad orphan that beats people up.
I have watched Ratatouille.
Mm-hmm. Cool. With, um, there's those in it. Yeah, with the chef and all that stuff. You know what's like Ratatouille? The Bear. Have you watched The Bear? It's like Ratatouille.
I really only watch The Office, honestly.
Well, The Bear is like the Ratatouille.
I need to wash that cheese down here.
Oh, with some steak. Like I was saying, The Bear is like the Ratatouille, but instead of a little rat controlling you with your hair, it's your brother's suicide that controls you. But he makes really good food in that show. That's some good meat right there. Is that Venice? Is that jerky? Steak? Beef? Pork? Venison? Chicken? Duck?
Right, uh, actually, so we just lost our dog, and instead of cremating, we decided to make more use.
So yeah, yeah, I'm wildly, I'm wildly disturbed by that, but it was a good dog. I appreciate— I'm never going to turn down—
have you ever tried horse cheese?
Cheese from a—
yeah, Mike, Mike loves it.
Not willingly. I don't think I've willingly tried that. Mike loves it, dude.
Good.
Hey, you can't stop eating. I have to take it away from him because he doesn't stop eating it, bro.
Yeah, I know, bro. Hey, I have cravings too sometimes. I'm a big cookie butter guy. I know, cookie butter. I eat that crap up, man. Eat the mub out of it.
Mike, can you please put the rat away?
What's the name? Yama? Llama?
It's, it's mubs.
Rubs. Miyama.
Small. To-ama.
Small rat. Small Peter.
Bit long.
Big footlong.
Goalposts.
Footlong churro.
Goalpost baguette.
Football.
Football. Oh.
Cubs.
No, you—
Nubs. Nubs. Okay, football. Nubs. Nubs the Rat.
Nubs the Football Rat. Full name.
What a great— he's so creative.
I know, you have a bright mind.
I'm so proud of you, man. You've come so far.
Well, if you make it, my show is April 26th. If he survives till then, um, you should pull up.
April 26th of what year?
The current one, 2024 on the Hardin-Simmons campus in between the Moody Center and the Connelly Mission Center in between the BSM and the Student Life Center, basically.
So what, okay. Let's say hypothetically I decide to go.
I'm glad it's in your mind.
Yeah.
So, cause I don't plan on going.
You can. Yeah. Well, you can expect, um, me and Mike are not going to be there. So yeah.
Yeah, can you just walk me through it?
That's your John Cena day with Make-A-Wish?
No, I just, I just really don't.
Yeah, that's fair. This is the most FaceTime we're gonna get for a long time.
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, well, if you would, if anyone would be so kind to show up, we're gonna do a bunch of fun stuff. Um, we're having like a little thrift market. So doors open at 6. That basically just means that you can come outside at 6.
So doors?
Yeah, doors, because it's outside. So there's no like doors, but it's like a little thrift market. So I have a bunch of cool little pop-up companies like selling their clothes. I'm selling some of my clothes. Gold Coin Thrift, Mari Thrift, all these things. Great prices, great cheap thriftables.
Wake him up, please.
Um, and we're gonna sell them for cheap. Harder. And we're gonna, um, hit him in the chest. It's okay, I, I'm a sleepy boy. He's afraid of me. He's afraid of me.
I don't care what Mike thinks.
You know what you need? You know what wakes you up is going to my show April 26th. Because like I was saying, you know, okay, yes, no, uh You can buy clothes and stuff. You can buy Mubs merch. Uh, what's that look like? We maybe have underwear? No, we maybe have some adhesives is what I like to call them. Adhesives. Um, and we're gonna—
I don't want it to stick to my body.
Oh, you can put it on your laptop. Yeah. And then we're gonna— we maybe have some signed posters. But yeah, we're, um Our friend Hondo is gonna do some live music at like 6:45, 7. He's got a bunch of originals, and then we'll take a couple minutes to set up, and then I'll have a set with my band, with the Mubbin Band. Okay, Mub, Mub, Mubs and the Mubbers. I just came up with that.
Yeah, Mub, Mub, Mub Daubers.
Okay, yeah.
Yeah. Robin Mubbins.
Or we could do Mubs and the Wishers, like Make-A-Wish, you know.
Mubs and the Maggots.
Yeah, I don't know if we're gonna make a wish there, but we are gonna make a disco.
I mean, maybe Mike will survive to see it.
Yeah, I hope.
I'm gonna make a wish that you will stream my song Make a Disco, my debut single.
Wait, before you do that, before you do that, before you do that, we've got a couple questions.
Good.
We're gonna play this game.
Okay.
And it's basically like, I want you to tell me the first the first thing that comes to your mind whenever you hear these song titles.
Like one word? Yeah. Okay.
Let's Make a Disco.
Mubs.
Trap Queen.
Uh, Fetty.
Chasing Wind.
Uh-huh.
Fart. Uptown Funk.
Julio.
Valentine's. Madeline.
February. Why? Just because it's the season of love. February is the month of Philadelphia.
Is it Madeline or Madeline?
It's both because the whole aspect of the song is just like, you know, you don't know them well enough to know how to say their name, but you still are like, you know, going on that Pursuit. It's a poetic story about, you know, sounds really sad, the world's worst holiday. Oh, you like Valentine's Day? Because I'm just kidding, a lot of people have problems with it. I don't mind it. I think it's okay that Hallmark sells their soul to the devil every year and just makes a million cards.
I mean, I watch it. I watch Hallmark every day. I know, like even when Christmas isn't around.
Yeah, I think Mubs would— my life story would make a good Hallmark movie. You know, like the humble janitor with the bored headphones, falls in love with the podcast producer. It's just, yeah.
Not you, Mike. Not you.
He understands now.
It's a miracle.
He picks up some words, like if you say like burrito or podcast or 3 months.
Yeah. 3 months.
No burritos after 3 months. Sorry, Mike.
You ain't getting no burritos after 3 months.
Yeah. Yeah, bro.
Can you grab us the hairy ball, please?
I feel like the most thing that matters is that, you know, the thing that matters the most is that you're just going to be, um, mubbing up in heaven. I really do feel like Mike has enough of a free spirit. You know, if I understood the definition of mubbing, I don't— I think I would probably tell you, but it's It's kind of everything.
Yeah. Yeah.
You can mub when you're down. You can mub when you're up. You can mub all around. You can mub.
You can mub when you're sad.
You can mub when you're happy.
You can mub when you're mubbin'.
Yeah, you can. You can be spontaneously mubbin'.
Flubba dub dubbin'.
Yeah, flubba dub dubbin'. And like, I feel like if you're spontan— you can be spontaneously mubbing while you're purposefully mubbing at the same time.
Yeah. Man, that's so inspirational to all the young children out there.
We are destined to MUB.
Wow, maybe we'll get some shirts.
Yeah, it's— I feel like it's— I feel like it's maybe like 1 John 4:19 or something, or maybe John 4. It says, uh, we MUB because he first MUB'd us. Look it up. That's the MUB's—
what?
International version.
I've never read that.
The MIV, MUB's Interpreted Version.
Yeah, I haven't seen that one in the stores.
Don't tell Dr. McGraw, I sound like a heretic.
You wanna play us a little, uh, some-some?
Yeah, I get to have one that I've written before for this, or I get to make one up?
Whatever.
Or can it be a cover?
Whatever you want it to mother be.
Yeah. Oh, should I let you pick? Like a 1, like a 1 through 6. I have 6 ideas. Pick a 1 through 6.
Mike.
He's— yeah, it's language barrier.
Let's do—
hmm.
What number should I pick? I'm not listening to you, Mike.
3. Okay, 3 was— is my new song. I can play the new one.
Oh, one that just came out.
You want the whole thing? It's 2 minutes. Sure. I don't even know how to play it.
I just, you know, it's all ghostwriters, so I don't even do my own songs, you know? That's how it works.
Well, I've seen you around here, or maybe your smile, it ended my nightmare, at least for a while. I should have told you sooner. Some percussion going on. I need you closer. Closer, sooner, everybody.
Can I play the drums for you?
Yeah.
Go!
3, 4. I'm really trying, you know. My friends like your hair.
All right, no more, no more, no more.
There's something there. I said only a spark. I said only a glimmer. Hey, do you want to go far? Not just in my Kia. I've got an idea. I should have told you sooner. It's I need you closer.
You have to harmonize with me this time. I need you.
Closer.
Watch out for minor chord.
Closer. There you go. I wish I'd have met you sooner. I wish we could grow old faster. I just really wanna hold ya. I just really want you closer sooner.
I'm gonna end it soon for you.
Wow.
You have to listen.
You have to stream the last 22 seconds or you won't know what happens.
Closer Sooner by MUBZ.
Wow.
I almost called it—
the lyrics, you know, they say, I wish I'd have met you sooner, I wish we could grow old faster.
Yeah.
I just really want to hold you.
I—
it's a little like hard for me as a creative because sometimes like in your heart of hearts you just know what the lyrics should be. Yeah. You have to conform to modern audiences. 'Cause I don't think they're ready for the true lyrics, you know, like, "I wish I'd have mubbed you sooner. I wish we could mubbled faster. I just really want to mub ya." That's— they're not ready. I don't think they're ready for that. I don't think I'm ready for that. I don't think I'm ready for the repercussions of that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Honestly.
I mean, all I can hope and pray for is that, you know, people would accept me as a humble mubber. Yeah. Just mubbin' all the time. I mub unashamedly. That's, you know, the way that's life, you know.
Wow. So it's been great so far. We have one more thing.
Oh, good.
So we went ahead and took all your songs and kind of made one song.
Yes! Good old-fashioned mashup. I love it. If you didn't hate my songs before, I'm sure you will now.
So basically, you don't have to go very far on this, but All of the songs that you released on your last album—
Yeah.
—are in this one song. Okay. So I'm gonna need you to sing another one.
Okay. Okay.
Mike, give the guitar back.
Go over there.
Go lay down.
121 notifications on this message app with this man right here. That's what I'm more worried about. In the heart of the night, we're ready, we take action.
And like stars aligning, sparking interaction, we make a disco under the moon so bright, dancing together till the morning light. Chasing wind through the streets, we roam. Valentine, Madeline, in this dance, we're not alone. In the rain with the city's glow, in this rom-com ending, our love will show up and out in the world so vast. Here we go, moments together, we're making that podcast for you. Every note, every line in this perfect melody, our hearts intertwined, you know it. Chasing wind through the streets, we roam. Valentine Melon in this dance, we're not alone in the rain. I lost my spot in this rom-com ending. Our love will show. Wow.
For you, I'll be the beacon in the night.
With you, every wrong turns right. One more time. For you, I'll be the beacon in the night. With you, every wrong turns right. Together, we're the perfect team living out our wildest dream. Wow. Okay, okay, Chase.
No, yeah, we're good. Now I want you to Finish the next verse and I want you to merge it into Take Action. We're testing your multiple ability here. This last verse?
Yeah. Take action, make this moment ours. In the echo of the night, Feeling the power, chasing dreams. Under the moon, soft ending with you, my love, forever ascending.
All right, now go on.
Should we just do the real chorus? Now go on the regular one, real one. Now I'm ignoring what you say, and my thoughts of you were led astray. Gotta take, gotta take action. Gotta take, gotta take action. I hear a voice, it's you, I pray. I've been on the bench, but I'm out to play. Gotta take, gotta take action. Gotta take, gotta take a few more steps. Just one step. Before what's left all turns to rubble.
Wow. Yeah. Mike, give him a round of applause, please. Show Some Respect. It's my favorite song.
I know, I see it on your Instagram stories. You know, that one's for Darren. No one else gets that. That's just— hey, action! You don't get my heart out in that one, only you. Wow.
Well, Mubs, thanks so much for joining us on the Hottie Podcast today.
Hey, anytime, man.
Is there anything else that you are just dying to tell all of my thousands of listeners? I don't know. What are you pointing at?
What are you pointing at?
Oh, look at that camera. Okay, okay. Yeah, sorry, I thought he— I thought Mike was having a seizure.
So look at this one. Look here.
Look at that camera right there.
That's a camera? Yeah.
Dang, it's like Hot Ones. They have an extra camera for me to plug, you know what I'm saying?
Yeah, and I have this one. I just can't see cameras.
I got the fog adhesive on my glasses.
Anything I would— vegan.
I think if anything I'd leave y'all with is go to my show, Abilene, Texas.
Look on the— my Instagram, mubs.mp3, for the house show, April 26th. Listen to all the episodes of the Howdy Podcast because these are great guys.
Um, where can they find you on social media?
Instagram, TikTok, both mubs.mp3. Um, Spotify, just M-U-B-S. Apple Music, M-U-B-S. Mubs. I'm just mubbing there. Um, more songs coming out this year. 2024 is gonna be a good year. I'm gonna keep mopping, grinding, cleaning, you know. Um, if anything, just like live, laugh, love like you never, never have before. Mubs is supposed to be a positive message, so I hope you all can get that. I hope y'all can find solace in my vibey tunes. Um, you know, working towards a more, um, enlightened, righteous, uh, being of ourselves with mubbin', you know. That's amazing.
So thanks for joining us, thanks for watching, and we will mub you later. Love you.
Later.
