LIVESTREAM - Tips On Social Media, Personal Brand, & Content Strategy

In this live livestream, the host (SPEAKER A) guides viewers through the fundamentals of creating a personal brand from scratch, selecting the right social media platforms, and establishing a consistent posting strategy. The discussion covers common mistakes business owners make—such as over‑reliance on static graphics and neglecting video—followed by concrete video‑first engagement tactics for Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube (hooks, thumbnail titles, short‑form reels). The host then shifts to monetization, outlining how small but loyal audiences can be turned into revenue through podcasts, community groups, courses, ebooks, and coaching services. Throughout, the host promotes the free Howdy Media Insiders Facebook group, an ebook titled Content That Converts, and upcoming paid offerings, encouraging viewers to join the community for daily live Q&A and future events. The tone is conversational and enthusiastic, with a focus on actionable steps and community support.

Click the link in the description, it'll take you to Facebook group. Um, and you can join there. Whenever you're on the group, you can ask us live Q&A questions every single day. We usually do it at 1 o'clock. We usually do it at 1 o'clock, but today we had to do it a little bit earlier just because we had a shoot. We had to shoot during that time and I can't change it. So if you see me looking up, looking down, we got like 3 different things I'm looking at, plus my computer. So go ahead and put it in the chat if you want to talk about any specific topics. Uh, we've talked about resolution, frame rates, um, type of content that you can be creating. Mike is in the background getting it set up for the shoot later. Let's hope he hears some luck. That's not what that is. He may join the live in a little bit. We'll see. People really want to see him. But we got some questions here just to kind of start off the conversation, start off the live stream. Hope you're doing good. Hope you're having a great Tuesday. Um, okay, so question number 1: What's the best way to start building a personal brand from scratch today in today's social media landscape? Okay, so So I want to break that down. The first step is to, first of all, figure out who the heck you're wanting to reach and what you have to offer. Everybody has something to offer, by the way. Um, just pick something you're passionate about, pick something you're good at, and then target it towards pain points of your ideal audience and There you go, there's your offer. But pick a service, pick a product that is solving problems for a specific pain point and start there. Once you figure that out, then you're going to want to get on— I, I recommend at least 3 social media platforms. I don't think you necessarily have to get on all of them at the very beginning. Just because it's a lot. It's a lot of work. Welcome, Yelly, to the livestream. Yelly's a part of the Insiders group. Welcome on Instagram. But having it more than 3 platforms can be a lot at times. And so just pick 3, like, just start off with— make it simple, make it easy, um, and figure out 3 platforms that you like and you are able to use and learn Brown. Uh, my 3 platforms are YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram as of right now. We pushed TikTok for a while, but I decided to bring it back in, kind of make it more simplified. Hey hey here on IG, what up y'all? Um, if you are watching in the insider's group, you're watching on Instagram. Instagram or YouTube, make sure to leave a comment so that we can respond to these questions. We have a list of questions actually that we're answering today, but the first question, if you weren't here, what's the best way to start building a personal brand from scratch in today's social media landscape? So find your target audience, discover what it is you're gonna be offering. I think that's probably the most important thing. That's the foundation for everything. Second thing is to figure out what platforms you wanna be on. And there's tons of platforms, it's just a matter of which ones are you gonna tackle. So once you have those 3 picked out, and you wanna expand to all the platforms eventually, but like once you get systems put in place and people to help you with this stuff, that's when it becomes easier. But once you get these 3 figured out, Then you're going to start thinking about your strategy. How many times are you going to be posting? What are you going to be posting about? Um, who are you going to be collaborating with? Right? So those are the main 3 things to focus on whenever you're starting at the very beginning, because at the beginning it's going to be straight up a quantity. You're just going to want to get your face out there as much as possible every single day. And if you really want to see the most results, the fastest results, you're gonna have to do it daily. There's really no— unless you're just like somehow gifted with creating a viral video every single time, you're gonna have to go and post every single day, be present. Like, you have to create the content and post like you have a million followers, like you have 500,000 followers. And even if you have a few hundred followers, like, create some stuff, create your content, give it enough value, and pretend like you're showing it to half a million people. What up, Danny Rubio? Welcome to Instagram Live. We're live on the Insiders Group as well. If you want to join the Insiders Group and ask questions in there, it's free. Let me know and I'll send you the link. But That's what I would say for that first question. Uh, let's see. What are some common mistakes business owners make with their social media that hinder growth? Well, there's a lot of mistakes. Um, it depends on your niche. So like, for example, real estate. We have a lot of experience with the real estate social media stuff. The old-fashioned way of doing it— and by old-fashioned, I mean like 2 or 3 years ago— you could get away with using a Canva graphic of just listed or like under contract. Now, with how in-depth video content is and like creators are going on these platforms, like, you have to kind of match that. You, you can't just put up a picture and expect to get tons of engagement, tons of likes, right? So let's see, one thing I learned at work was to show up as the person I wanted to be. Same with content. Even if you're not there yet, show up as if you have made it. Exactly, exactly. And so like, Ellie, for you, I would be making your content like you're reaching 5 million people, like create it so valuable that 5 million people, if they watch it, they would get something out of it. But that's one of the common mistakes is thinking you can just post camo graphics and basic cheesy Instagram posts. That doesn't work anymore in 2024, which is why like we're pushing this so hard and And video is a huge part of that. Video is massive. What up, Lexi? What up, Mike Dale on Instagram Live? But it's become huge. Like, video has become the way that people communicate the best. You get to know somebody's personality through video. You don't get all their personality through photo. So that's why we're advocates That's one of the common mistakes is they stick with photo and they don't do any video stuff. Like they don't follow any of the trends. They don't research other companies in their market. What's up, Sarah Palmer? Welcome to Instagram Live. We're live actually in the Facebook Insiders Group right now. So if you're on Instagram and you wanna join the Insiders Group, let me know and I'll give you an invite. It's free. Absolutely free. But we're going live every day like this. Usually it's at 1 o'clock. Today we had to move it back just because we had a shoot planned previously that we can't move. But we kind of go live every single day, so watch for the updates. If you're on YouTube watching, make sure to click the link in the description and go join our How to Meet an Insider. Okay, calling mistakes again. The question was, what are Common mistakes business owners make, uh, with their social media that hinder growth. So first thing is having a limiting belief on what you can post. Like, can't go grab— um, people want to see authenticity. Thumbs up, that's fine. People want to see authenticity, they want to see behind the scenes, they want to engage with you, which is why I'm going in on YouTube, I'm going in on doing livestreams and helping people directly. So like, be engaging, spend a little bit more time on your content ideas, research, find 3 other pages. This is what we tell people, find 3 other pages that you like their stuff, you like what they're putting out, it kind of fits your vibe, and it's also getting traction. Like, they have the followers, and then not only do they have the followers, but they have the engagement, they have the reach. So if you see a page with 100,000 followers, they're getting 200 to 300 plays per video, like, watch for that. That means they bought fake followers. So like, don't copy what they're doing, it's not going to work. So if you're seeing content that's going viral, that's doing well on Instagram, look at the shares. Like, there's like a comment there's the likes button, and there's the shares button, which is a little paper airplane. If those numbers on those 3 things are high, then it's a good piece of content. And that's how Instagram sees it. They want you to share with friends, they want you to engage and create conversations in the comments. That's what Instagram is about. So create engaging stuff. Like, if it's not performing well, don't do it again. If you put up a video and you're like, man, I think this is going to do really well, but it flops, it's okay. It's trial and error. You got to learn a lot of these things through trial and error. And turn around and don't post that same video. So learn from what you've done. That's what we do with our accounts that we manage. Like, we'll put out a week worth of content, we'll see what works, and we'll keep things that work. Doesn't work, we'll throw it out, we'll completely scratch it, and the next week we'll find a different idea. And so that's where the creation and the creative part comes. But you gotta do research, research other businesses, other, uh, influencers, other pages that do things that you want to do at all. Oh, can you share your top strategies using video engagement on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube? Okay, top strategies to increase engagement. Um, you really want to spend time— we'll talk about— let's start with Instagram. You really want to spend a lot of time thinking about the 2 to 3 seconds of your reels. And this is whenever you're making specifically short-form content, like you're sitting down, you're filming stuff for short form, which you can do it that way, or you can do it the other way, which we like to do, converting all your long-form content into short form. Takes up a quarter of the— but make sure to pick, to pick topics that are eye-catching. Like, there's these trends. We did one a while back and it was like person who falls off the stretcher, and then it's like it switches as soon as they hit the ground, and the person in the video is rolling with that clip. Looks like one thing, but it's funny and people remember that. First 3 seconds. And unfortunately, people like seeing those types of things. Like, if you drive by a car wreck, people look. It's like, it's— they're so curious, they want to know what happened. They're like, they look towards the negative. But that's one of the strategies, like, make sure you have a good hook, make sure your idea is good, your racer. And on YouTube, make sure your title and thumbnails are on fire. Great. All right, we got time for one more question if you have any questions. I got something in my eyeball. Holy moly. If you got any more questions, leave them in the comments. We want to hear you. We're currently live on the Insiders Group on Facebook. You want to be part of it? Free. Let me know, I'll send you an invite. Oh, let's find one more question. What advice would you give for monetizing a small but loyal audience on social media? So small creators— okay, to be a small creator, I'm a small creator, but it's like, how do you make it worth your time with those small numbers, because it's different for somebody who has 200,000 followers, um, and they can just put out a post or an ad and all of their fans see it and they all buy that product. We don't necessarily have that capability. So like, creating ways to monetize your audience, one of the ways is to start a podcast. This is probably the best way to earn loyal customers— or not customers, loyal fans that could eventually create a customer. But loyal fans, podcast is the way. Because if you look at it, you're spending more time hanging out with them than you are on short-form content. They're seeing like 30 seconds and then they forget about you. If you're posting long-form content like YouTube, or you could even post long-form on Facebook, they'll sit there and watch a 20-minute video if you make it engaging. And Google put out this stat that I, I'm gonna say every single day until people catch on, but you have to have about 7 hours of content before somebody trusts you enough to buy from you. And so if you think about it, you have 7 hours of content. I do talk about— I actually— shout out to Amazon Kindle. I just released an ebook that you can buy. Um, if you're part of the Insiders group, I'll send you a free copy, but it's on Amazon. It's called Content That Converts. Go check it out. Um, the whole point is just helping. Like, I'm not trying to get rich or anything off this book, but I just tuning in. All this information that we talk about every single day, if you don't want to watch our livestreams, you can read this book and you can learn the same exact thing. It's like 14 or 15 pages. It's a quick read. Check it out. Um, if you're watching this after the livestream, make sure to leave comments, submitting like questions, like DM me questions you want to talk about the next day. And we'll cover it. Um, but monetizing a small but loyal audience on social media— let's get back to that question. So after you build the trust, if you're wanting to genuinely make this a business where you can make money, you're gonna have to funnel these loyal members into something of like a service or product. And so One of the ways that you can do this by creating a community, which is why I started Facebook, the Facebook group, Media Insiders Group. And so it's free right now, but it's eventually going to switch to paid. And you get in for free right now. It will remain free to be a part of the group, but you can offer your expertise and your skill set. You can teach your loyal fans these things via programs, courses. You can write books, let them buy it. You can do coaching calls. You can have it promote everything to your website. If you clean houses, you can find an audience of moms, of cleaning companies who want to know some quick tips and hacks on how to clean faster, more efficiently, and you know everything, buddy, because that's your profession. Like, utilize that knowledge. There's a lot of things that you do in your daily life that people don't realize you do that could help a lot of people's situations. Like, you hold the knowledge to so many people's pain points because they're not as strong in that area. And that's what makes every single person unique and everybody else coming off. And so you're business-minded, you're wanting to start a business, like, keep these things in mind. One of the simple things that I forget people don't know how to do is like editing a simple video or posting a video to YouTube, posting a video to Instagram. Like, there's a lot of people who don't even know how to do the first step. And so how much would you pay for somebody to show you how to monetize this group, show you how to build a following on YouTube or Instagram? Like, how much is that worth to you? So if you're struggling in that area, if you're struggling on like what content you want to make or how to use cameras, that's one of the pain points that we solve. And eventually we'll have an offer where you can buy this knowledge, you can buy access to us as a media team so we can help you. But you do that, workshops, a lot of things that you can do. But funneling your views, designing your content strategically, funnel your viewers into something else, landing page, send them somewhere where they can buy something. Don't just make content for fun. Like, if you're genuinely just wanting to start something that is going to make money for the long term, you don't have a lot of followers, like, be very strategic with how you make this stuff. What up, you've asked for— see, a long time to see, brother. We're currently live in your Howdy Media Insiders on Facebook. If you want to join that, absolutely free, just let me know. But that's not all the time we have. We have a stream coming in at 12:30 here in the podcast studio. Um, if you like this video, give it a like. If you're on YouTube, don't forget to subscribe. Say what up, Mike, in the background. Hello. Uh, join the Insider Group on Facebook. We'll be going live every single day. Moving forward every single weekday, not on weekends. I'm not a heathen. Go spend time with your family on the weekends. But we'll be going live every single day talking about content, talking about strategy, talking about this business stuff. And eventually we'll be doing live in-person events. And so I'm kind of trying to build a community of small business owners, of creators who just want to network with people. Like, if you have a podcast and you're looking for a guest, this is the first place to eat. If you're looking for advice on the video or like a question on how to make a certain type of video or post, this is the group for that. So utilize it. It's free to you guys, especially if you're in now, it'll be free. It will be switched once we hit a certain number of members. But that's a conversation for another day. If you're already in the Insider's Group, thanks for watching. Um, yeah, you'll always be in for free. Congratulations on getting in early. Uh, we'll be live tomorrow again, probably. We'll see. Might be 1 o'clock, it might be 1 o'clock, it may not be 1 o'clock. We'll see. Um, we have a church plant that we're going to every other Wednesday. Got 3 kids, so I gotta spend most of my days up there. But you just joined live, sorry, we are currently, um, about to hop off the live. Make sure to give the Facebook Howdy Media Insiders Group, um, go request to join and I'll let you in. But that's it. Have a good Tuesday, guys. Everything's going well. Uh, this Instagram will stay on for a little bit longer. But howdy, Media Insiders group, uh, we'll see you tomorrow. We don't go live on Instagram today, by the way, so you need to make sure to join the group so you can hop on these lives. All right, peace y'all, and end the stream on YouTube and Facebook.
