Social Media Management Is BURNING Your Marketing Dollars (This Is Why)

In this solo‑presented YouTube episode, the host critiques social‑media‑management agencies that sell high‑priced packages focused on activity—regular Canva graphics, static Instagram posts, and a few reels—rather than outcome‑driven video content. He explains why this model fails: audiences now expect entertaining, short‑form video (thanks to TikTok) and are unlikely to engage with static, newspaper‑style posts. The presenter urges business owners to confront their agencies, ask why video isn’t prioritized, and consider the cost and skill barriers that agencies cite. He shares his own experience, noting that shifting to video has multiplied his clients’ engagement and leads (up to 10‑100×). To help viewers transition, he promotes a free, limited‑spot, one‑on‑one “5‑Day Build with Video Challenge,” promising to teach the video‑creation tactics that have driven his success. The episode ends with a call for comments, suggestions for future topics, and a reminder to subscribe.

Today's episode, we're going to be talking about if you're working with a social media management agency and they are not getting you results and you're like paying them a lot of money and you're asking yourself, am I going to see a return on investment? Uh, am I wasting my money? Do they know what they're doing? There's a couple of things because I've been doing this for a few years. All those are valid questions. First of all, So business owners watching this, you're not alone. Every business owner goes through this, this mental cycle. And whenever I talk to other business owners, these are the first questions that I get and that I try to address before we even get to them. Basically, I was on, uh, online the other day. I was looking at other media companies and on their website it— there was a section talking about their different packages, their different plans. And, you know, like a normal thing that people were doing in like 2020, 2019, saying, hey, I'll manage your social media accounts for X amount of dollars. I think this package was like $1,500 a month. And this package also included, uh, 2 Instagram Reels. This package included weekly or daily Instagram posts. Uh, whenever I say Instagram posts, it's a Canva graphic. And look, like, everybody has to start somewhere, but these companies are still offering this and still signing people for these packages. For a lot of money whenever it doesn't work. Like, I tried to make that system work. No traction. I would literally post— I had probably 6 clients at one time when I started, and I was doing that. We weren't getting any video content. We were just doing like Canva graphics. Like, they look like a newspaper. They look like a magazine. Like, nobody wants to watch that. That's the only issue with that. Because now people are there to be entertained. Uh, people are there not online to be sold to. And so like, these are the things that come up whenever you are working with a social media management agency. And I want to encourage you that have a conversation with them, ask them, hey, why are you doing this? Like, Do you see this actually working for other clients? Do you see it working for us? Why are you not offering more video content? Because I saw this guy online, his name is Darren. He seems like he knows what he's talking about, hopefully. And he says you should post a lot of video content, primarily video content. Hey, really quick, I wanted to let you guys know about a 5-day challenge. Let's get back to the episode. That's what I post. There's exceptions like with carousels and stuff, but ask them why. Say, is there not another option or reason that you're not making more video content? And there's probably a good reason because a lot of people can't afford it. Um, they, they don't have a camera, they don't have the editing skills required, etc. But basically, whenever you're selling these types of packages, or if you're with a social media management agency, then they're selling you activity over the outcome. And so they're selling you, hey, I get this many posts per week. They're selling you, oh, my, my page will look professional. My page will look modern, up to date. It will be active. We'll be posting every day. We'll post your story. All of those things are great. Nobody wants to watch your channel or your videos or your content if it's just boring stuff like this. And so that's the whole point of today's video is, is your social media management agency focusing on content, on, on video content specifically? You can thank TikTok for this, by the way. Um, and whenever they came around, they completely changed the landscape, and all the other platforms followed suit. And now we're in this whole world of infinite doom scrolling, uh, entertaining content that there seems to be an unlimited amount of. And so businesses now, since that's where all the people are, they're needing to be in front of these people. So they're adapting and going with the video content. And so think about this, if If you've never tried video content, I wanna encourage you, take out your phone, give it a shot, uh, make a video on your own, see if you can do it yourself.
