In this video, the creator—an avid Sony user who owns FX30, FX6, FX3, A7S III, and A7 III—reacts to recent leaks about Sony’s upcoming FX2 cinema camera slated for a May 28 release. He walks through the rumored specifications: a full‑frame 33 MP sensor shared with the A7 IV, 4K 60p recording with a 1.5× crop, 32‑bit float audio, and a large tiltable electronic viewfinder. He notes the projected $3,500 price, compares it to his own FX30 ($1,700) and FX3, and questions why Sony would place a full‑frame, slightly larger body between the APS‑C FX30 and the higher‑end FX3. He discusses ergonomics—body thickness, hand‑comfort, gimbal suitability—and wonders whether the FX2 merely duplicates the A7 IV’s capabilities, especially with rumors of an A7 V on the horizon. Throughout, he expresses confusion and skepticism about the camera’s niche, while remaining a fan of Sony. He invites viewers to share use‑cases, opinions, and camera preferences, promising future follow‑up once the FX2 is in hands.

All right, y'all, I'm a little bit confused and flabbergasted, if I must say so myself. The new leaks of the Sony FX2 are out, and they've been out for a couple days. I've been seeing it surface up everywhere, and I wanted to just talk about it because I am a Sony lover. I am a Sony user. I use Sony FX30s, I've used Sony FX6, Sony FX3s, Sony A7S III, A7 III, all the above. And it's just a little bit confusing to me, and it almost feels like we're taking a step backwards. Um, but I wanted to go over some of the specs and some of the leaked information about this upcoming camera, which is supposed to come out May 28th. And so the FX2, obviously, you know, the FX3, it's a great camera, it's a beast of a camera, and this is going to be a step under the FX3. And let's just talk about some of the specs here. Okay, so first of all, it's being priced around $3,500. Um, I have an FX30. For the body, I paid about $1,700. It's a phenomenal camera. I, I don't need to take pictures, which is why I have an A7III if I end up doing anything, take pictures at events or that kind of thing, or portraits. And so I have that, and I have a camera, a video camera that's great for literally what is that, $2,000 almost cheaper than the FX30. It uses the same sensor, so the FX2 is supposed to use the same sensor as the A7 IV, the full frame. Um, that would really be the biggest difference. I mean, the full frame sensor, I, I feel like the APS-C sensor on the FX30 is already plenty good. I don't see any need to go in between the FX30 and the FX3. It just doesn't make sense there. A few things: it can record 4K 60 with a, uh, 1.5x crop, um, which is— I mean, I believe that's what the A7 IV does. And so it's a 33-megapixel full-frame sensor. The audio— this is actually a good thing. So not everything is bad. Not everything is bad about this camera. The 32-bit float audio for high-quality sound recording, that actually is a good thing. I think that should be a standard on all cameras moving forward. Um, something interesting, it's going to be coming with a tiltable EVF. A viewfinder. Um, the way that they described it, it's quite big. Um, and it's not going to be— they're saying it's not going to be like the Lumix GX9. So if you know the EVF on that one, then it's going to be much larger than that one. It's going to be more like the GFX100. So if you don't know what that looks like, go Go look it up, there's tons of pictures. But yeah, the body size of this camera, they're claiming it's going to be a bit thicker than the FX3. And if you know, if you've held an FX3 or an FX30, you know it's not the smallest camera in the world, but it's also like not too big. It's quite literally, if there was a perfect size camera, I think that they have found it. It's comfortable in the hand. You can put it on any gimbal. You don't have to worry about it being too heavy. You can carry it all day long. It's a perfect size. Now, I don't see a reason, unless there's something, something different or better that they're trying to stick in the body that's going to make it cost to be bigger. I mean, maybe like I don't see them putting in a new battery. Um, but still, to have this camera using the same sensor as the A7 IV and putting an EVF on it, I mean, at this point, why don't you just buy an A7 IV? There's also been rumors of an A7 V. Um, it's supposed to be coming hopefully in August. And so I don't know, I just don't see where the FX2 fits in the lineup. And maybe you do. If you have an idea or have a use case for this exact camera, I'm, I'm looking forward to it actually coming out here in a few days. And maybe then we'll get our hands on one and we'll go over kind of the pros and cons and see what it actually feels like. Who knows, it may be a lot better than we're thinking. I I'm a big fan of Sony stuff, like I said earlier, and so I'm not trying to hate on Sony. I'm not trying to hate on Sony and their stuff. I'm just trying to make sense of what's happening and their plans. And it's just weird because I'm not going to upgrade to an FX2 if the FX3 is available. Um, and maybe they're just trying to do a revamp to I don't know. I don't know. Let me know in the comments below what you think. Um, and we'll be hopefully talking about this more, um, in the future. What cameras do you guys shoot on? Are you Sony fans? Let me know in the comments below. Hope you guys enjoyed today's video and hope it brought some value explaining a little bit about what this FX2 is going to be about. Um, again, full frame, 33-megapixel sensor from the Sony A7 IV. Um, with an EVF, and it's a part of the cinema line. So it's going to be interesting, folks. Going to be interesting. Stay tuned, hit the subscribe button, and we'll see you in the next one. Peace.
