This is a YouTube video titled "Ask yourself THIS question as an employee" containing a monologue or talk recorded in July 2024. The speaker discusses the importance of employees understanding their own career needs and preferences, especially regarding remote versus in-person work, and encourages self-awareness when applying for jobs that fit individual dispositions without moral judgment.
There is no right or wrong way in terms of remote or in person. The question is, as an employee, where am I in my career? What needs do I have as an individual? What needs do I have as a professional? And will this company meet those needs? Like, Clear is kind when I hear you say, like, I'm trying to sell it as a positive. Some people, it's going to be super positive. And they're going to say, this is exactly what I've longed for. I'm not going to be fussed on a Saturday if I get a message from you. There are other people that are going to be like, oh, my gosh, my hair would fall out if I started getting messages on Saturday. And the trick is, as an applicant, you to know that about yourself and not should yourself into something else. Not being like, oh, I should want to work with Dave because he's, you know, flexible and innovative. Like, I should want to do that. It's being like, oh, no, I don't think that's for my disposition that doesn't meet my preferences. And applying to jobs and working in jobs that reflect those preferences without valuation on your moral good and badness.
