Two speakers discuss how CEOs shape marketing strategy and the friction that comes with aligning marketing efforts to leadership priorities. They explore why this relationship matters especially in small teams where marketing often lacks dedicated resources.
Marketing is always going to touch everything. I do a lot of marketing. Obviously it's a three person company, but to your point about it being your baby, like marketing is always going to touch everything. Like everything inside of a company can be marketing, like the product, the brand, the website, the language, the story. The CEO is going to be involved in all those things. And so maybe they're not the marketing executor of those things, but they're going to own the vision. And I think that's the realization is like, I can help shape this, but I'm going to have to pretty much carry this, this order out, right?
Yeah, exactly. And you really have to know when to pick your battles. And those battles that you do pick, how are you going to win those battles? Do you need data? Is it more of a storytelling thing? Do you need examples? It is going to be different from CEO to CEO.
It's healthy.
A lot of times, but at Some point some CEOs just have too divergent or they're too delusional.
