This is a YouTube video titled "THIS changes when you become a founder" containing a monologue or personal reflection from January 23, 2024, where the speaker discusses their experience transitioning from a finance role to founding their own company, emphasizing the appreciation for branding, marketing copywriting, and the operational aspects of running a business.
Since starting my own company, I've just come to appreciate how much all of these little things matter. The branding, the positioning. I remember having a moment a year into equals where I was sitting down, having to write the copy for the marketing site, and having to write the first copy of things that were going to go out to customers or prospects and just have a whole new level of respect and admiration for every field and the things that they do. And starting from a blank page is just so fundamentally different than like, picking at something that somebody shows you in a meeting or even just editing something. And so, as a grumpy metrics oriented CFO to now outbounder, it's just you come to appreciate these things and you understand the value of them, and you understand the art behind them. I don't know how practical that is, but maybe more finance folks should be in operating roles to understand that.
