Two leaders discuss how prioritization prevents disappointment and failure. They focus on managing expectations and limiting decisions to concentrate on what matters most, rather than spreading yourself thin across too many goals.
The idea that anyone can do everything to its full potential at any given time is a fallacy and sets us up. I think, for disappointment and failure, you have to prioritize. You have to pick three or two or whatever makes sense for you, given your disposition and the time in your life. So at this time in my life, my work is definitely a top priority. My children are too. My family is as well, but they're less demanding of my time and attention.
I think even just having that framework, it's freeing to be like, I'm putting all this pressure on myself to be like an A in every area, and that's just not possible. And so, like, let's just limit the decisions a little bit and focus on one or two.
