Dave Kashen breaks down core emotions using the feelings wheel and Conscious Leadership framework. He identifies four primary feelings—joy, sadness, anger, fear—then explains why shame and guilt matter: shame means "I'm bad," guilt means "I did something wrong."

I'm not a feelings guy. That, that's a very common refrain you'll hear. So I have some very 101 questions. What are the feelings? What, what, what, what are the different feelings that people have?
And, and so there, there's a bunch of good tools out there, like feelings wheel, and we could, we could post some of them in the show notes. But the, the primary feelings, as I learned them from Conscious Leadership, are joy, excitement or creative energy or sexual energy. I'm using those three synonymously. Sadness, anger, and fear. And then I've been finding it useful lately to throw in shame and guilt because a lot of people experience those. Conscious Leadership would say, you know, shame tends to be kind of fear and sadness and a story that there's something wrong with me. And guilt is the same, but a story that there's— that I did something wrong. Right. So shame is like fundamental. I'm bad. Guilt is I did bad.
