In this brief excerpt from Dennis Prager's post‑election commentary, the speaker delivers an impassioned monologue using a vivid analogy. He likens the political left to a drunk, hit‑and‑run driver racing toward a loved one—symbolizing America—while the election itself is portrayed as a lamppost that the driver crashes into, resulting in the driver’s death instead of the innocent victim. The speaker’s immediate emotional response is one of stunned relief, emphasizing how the election prevented the left from harming the nation.

It's so good that my initial reaction was just stunned. I gave the analogy last hour of, you know, that a hit-and-run driver is about to kill someone you love, and at the last moment it hits a lamppost and it's the driver who gets killed. Not the one, the innocent one you love. Your first reaction is relief and stunned because you saw the car roaring toward your loved one. That drunk driver is the left. That loved one is America. The lamppost was the election.
