Do You Know This Secret To A Long & Good Marriage?

Dennis Prager argues that saying "yes, dear" keeps marriages from ending but not from being miserable. A good marriage needs a husband willing to say no when he means it. He asks women whether they'd actually want a partner who agrees with everything.

So it's the Male Female Hour. Hi everybody, I'm Dennis Prager. Most honest talk I know of in the American media about men and women. So I have an interesting topic. If it weren't interesting, it wouldn't be a topic. And therefore, to a certain extent, interesting topic is redundant. Well, I have a topic that will make you think. Very often when couples married for, let's say, two decades or more are asked, so what's the secret to your long marriage? By the way, it's, it's sort of a, uh, an incorrect question. People should be asked, if they're going to be asked anything, they should be asked about the secrets to their long and good marriage. Long and happy marriage. A long marriage, the secret to a long marriage is not getting divorced. So that doesn't answer anything. The question is, if you have an essentially happy marriage, what is your secret? So one of the most common, I would say the most common answer that I have heard from men, I don't recall what answer women give. It's an interesting one, interesting question unto itself. But the most common answer that you hear from men is, well, I learned to say yes, dear. So, allow me in my usual heretical way to argue that "Yes, dear" is not the route to a happy marriage. It might be the route to a long marriage, but it is not the route necessarily to a happy marriage. So, here's what I want to bounce off you. I don't think that most women want a husband who always says, yes, dear. 1-800-PREGGER, 776-877-243-7776. So do you agree or not with that thesis of mine? That it sounds cute, it sounds nice, it sounds like women go, yeah, that's the man I want, man who always says yes dear, but I don't believe that. I don't believe that that's what most women want in a man. I think they want one who will say yes dear when appropriate, and no deer when it's appropriate. What do you think? 877-243-7776. 1-800-PRAGER-776. Maybe I'm wrong, by the way. I would be very obviously interested to hear from women in this matter, but if you're a man, We will not reject your phone call on that basis alone. We do not discriminate on the basis of sex.
