Eric Eggers discusses provisional ballots, which get discarded for signature mismatches or missed deadlines, and reports that Republican observers were barred from Philadelphia ballot-counting centers. He emphasizes the need for bipartisan oversight to ensure election fairness.
Are there not counted votes?
Not counted votes, as in votes that are cast. So there's provisional ballots, right? So provisional ballots can be cast if there's some question about legitimacy or accuracy of that ballot on the day that the vote is cast. If somebody said, hey, I sent an absentee ballot, but I'm not sure you've got it, and they say, okay, well, we'll let you cast a provisional ballot. We have to go back and verify, did we get it? Has it counted? Things like that. So there are the provisional ballots. I mean, there are ballots that won't be counted because the signatures don't match or they received after the deadline, things like that. But yeah, so then— and that's, I think, that's kind of where we're getting to, some of these states. Are you—
forgive me, are you aware of the reports out of Philadelphia that Republicans are not allowed into counting centers?
I am aware of those reports, and I've seen some instances. I think there may have just been a recent ruling that said no, they are allowed in there now. But I think that's another example of something that just sort of raises eyebrows, right? Like, why would we not be wanting, to me, right, both sets of political eyes on the process to make sure that it's as fair as possible? That's exactly right, yes. All right. If there's any good news, Dennis, it's that my wife might finally believe that sometimes I might be right about things.
You know, I can't tell you the joy that brings me. You're a good man. Thank you. What men will do to have their wives say you're right. They will write books. They will climb Everest. Dear man, Bruce Hershenson, Dennis Prager, one of the wonderful Americans of my generation, of this past generation, had a line once. He said to me, "In the beginning, the Lord created man and critic."
