Dennis Prager argues that leftists seek totalitarian control by silencing dissent, unlike conservatives who tolerate opposition. He contrasts this with 1977, when liberals defended neo-Nazis' right to march in Skokie, a Jewish community. Today's left, he claims, suppresses opposition and dismisses critics as fascists and Nazis.

In their heart, all leftists would like to be totalitarian. The proof is they shut down all dissent. Your existence as an anti-leftist must be gotten rid of. I'm not saying they want to kill you. They probably do want to, but I'm not saying they would. We don't have that. We're perfectly fine. If you dissent against conservatism, it's a non-issue. I remember I was a kid when Nazis, real Nazis, okay, when people understood what Nazi meant, and the left hadn't screwed up the term, marched or wanted to march in Skokie, Illinois, which these sadists picked because there were Holocaust survivors living there. It's a Jewish suburb, so to speak, of Chicago. And liberal Jews said, look, that's what freedom of speech is about. The most evil people around are allowed to say what they want to say. They can march in a Jewish neighborhood of Holocaust survivors. But that's, that's a liberal view. The left-wing view is we suppress all dissent, and we will destroy you in any way we can. And they try in every way they can. Fascist, Hitler, Nazi, racist— I mean, all these terms are used against anyone who dissents against them.
