In this brief interview segment, Lou Dobbs affirms his long‑standing support for President Trump, describing him as a needed "disruptor" and "builder" who embodies independence, pragmatism, and the ability to get things done. Dobbs explains that his admiration stems from a focus on political economy and a love for innovators who break orthodoxies. The interviewer asks Dobbs to explain the hatred directed at Trump and notes that it is Dobbs' birthday, which he confirms.
Were you surprised? I think he's turned out to be a great president. Did this surprise you? I admit it surprised me.
It did not, and I have believed in this president from the moment he announced that he was running. It's because the country needed a disruptor, and he was that. And maybe it's because I've spent a lot of time worrying about the political economy, not just the economy or politics, but the political economy. Political economy. And I'm enamored by people who are innovative and who can break through orthodoxies and actually have a sense of timing to know when it is most propitious to do so. This president wanted— expressed— and, by the way, when I was saying to you, when I said to you that I thought he would be a great president, I didn't know he would be this great. But I knew he would be great because of his independence, his pragmatism, and his ability to get things done. He was a builder. The country needs a builder. A builder is, by definition, optimistic. A builder, by definition, does not want to be fettered by unnecessary regulation or nonsense. And a builder, by definition, also Is someone who likes people and must work with people of all walks of life. Yes, indeed.
Lou Dobbs, uh, I have two more questions for you if you could stay on. And one is good. I ask everyone this, to explain the hatred. So I'd love you to do so. By the way, well, I have a question. Is today your birthday?
