Make Believe Evil

Dennis Prager argues that the political left manufactures fake moral crises—from gas stove bans to DEI programs to electric car mandates—to consolidate totalitarian control through fear. He connects COVID lockdowns, World Economic Forum rhetoric, and green energy subsidies as evidence of a coordinated ideology built on invented threats rather than real evil.

And there's a palpable feeling upon leaving Florida, where I was for 10 days, where people are free, to an increasingly police state. You know what was most interesting there is— I want to speak to you about the mass shooting in Monterey Park, California, and many other things. But the, the most interesting— I saw this on Tucker Carlson— they announce that they are going to proceed with banning gas stoves, and then when there's a lot of blowback, one left-wing commentator after another said, what are these right-wingers making up these phony stories. It gives gaslighting a bad name, or a new name. You, you are— there are a handful of things to understand, and when you do, your life changes for the better. That truth is not a left-wing value. There are liars across the spectrum. There's no guarantee knowing anything about anyone that they're not a liar. There is a guarantee that if you're on the left— I don't mean liberal— that truth does not matter to you. This is as good an example, and there are so many, as exists. We— what are they talking about, these right-wingers? What are they talking about that we that people on the progressives want to ban gas stoves. It's like Reuters came out with a, you know, their fact-checker, left-wing fact-checkers, as I wrote about the Politichek. Is that right? That's the name of it, Politichek? PolitiFact. PolitiFact. Yeah, PolitiFact. When they did something on me, I wrote, you know, what is it I wrote? Truth is to PolitiFact what truth was to Pravda. They're just left-wing organizations. Their commitment to truth is that of a left-winger. And they wrote that, oh, this thing going around that the World Economic Forum wants people to stop eating meat— oh, false. Just plain judge false. Then you see the— first of all, one of the major speakers, the head of Siemens, S-I-E-M-E-N-S, Exactly says that. I mean, I have the recording. I heard it at the World Economic Forum. It is true the WEF did not officially come out with that, but people aligned with it have. Yes, there was a woman— as a remarkable story, I'm going to stay in touch with her. In fact, I gave her my email address. So at having a lunch or brunch yesterday before my workout, a woman came over to my table. I would say she's 35, and fascinating story, fascinating. She's an Iraqi, and she said, I was, I was on the left, I was a leftist. And now I'm what you call a liberal. But that, which is fine with me, I mean, the, the woman has left the left. And she was so obviously intelligent and thoughtful. And I asked her, what did it? And, and so a lot of you will think, oh, listening to you or PragerU. You know what she said? COVID. Do you know that there are a lot of people who left the left after 9/11, and there are a lot of people who left the left during the lockdowns? The, the— why did they leave the left during 9/11? It's an interesting question.
They—
I, I don't know exactly why, to be honest. That's why when I say it's an interesting question, it's not a rhetorical device. The, my assumption is that they realize there really is evil. See, the moment you realize that evil is evil— see, for the left, there's evil if you drive a gas-powered car, that's evil. So they have make-believe evils. I said this all of my life, they don't fight real evils, they fight make-believe evils. American racism is a left-wing made-up evil. There are racists in America, but America is not racist. They say America is racist. The reason that there are disproportionate number of blacks in prison is not because a disproportionate number of blacks commit crimes, but because America is racist. That's an out-and-out lie. The whole thing about police brutality against blacks Ask anybody in your family, how many unarmed blacks a year do the police kill in the United States? The last year, the year before that, the year before that, and the number is in the low 20s. They'll all say 1,000 or 500 or 100. When you don't fight real evil, you fight evil. So a lot of people realize there's real evil. And they started and they got more patriotic. It was, it was a real— that was the last bloom of patriotism at 9/11. I remember kids selling flags at the corner of my house. A young girl, it's a high school girl, I said— and it was a little flag— I said, how much? Said $20. I gave her $20. Just to see a young girl selling flags was so— such a nice thing for my heart. And then why did the lockdowns cause this? I'd like to— I'd like to follow up on this. I haven't read any commentators, have you, who have pointed to the lockdowns as a shift to conservatism among Americans? I think that a lot of people start to realize that every left-wing group, especially teachers and medicine, are corrupt, are morally corrupt. So when you start to think that, you start to think, wow, maybe conservatives have been telling the truth and the left has been hurting people and lying. What teachers did is so inexcusable, but they're excused. You know who might compare the teachers unions to? Southwest Airlines. They do all this damage and nobody gets fired. Remember I said this to you? I'm talking to my producer. Said, why isn't anybody fired? And I remember your response. You said it's too soon. Well, now it's a month. Has anybody been fired at Southwest? We live in the age of non-accountability. You're only accountable if you said something anti-woke, then you're accountable. If you say men don't give birth, you're accountable. If you say there's only one race, the human race, if you call America melting pot, ah, then you're accountable. But even that is starting to shift a tiny bit. The New York Times had an article I read every word of which saying that all these DEI things that the cowards at your local company force you to sit through is— this is the New York Times had a piece on this. It's actually causing people to resent the whole DEI movement, diversity, equity, inclusion. It's actually having a backfire, which it should. There's no difference between these DEI sessions and the Mao reeducation sessions in communism in China. It's a cultural revolution. Everyone should be fired. The entire DEI, many billions of dollars on it. Stanford has as many administrators as it does faculty. No, as it does students. Has tiny, tiny— oh, faculty is like one-fifth. I made a mistake. So this woman at the restaurant, she awakened at COVID, and then she started listening to the show and PragerU, and the rest is history. Very interesting woman. Now my producer is going to find the bombshell part of what she said to me really interesting. She said, oh, and I think you might find it of interest, I converted to Judaism. How many Iraqis do you meet who convert to Judaism? I never met one. Isn't that fascinating? The people I meet is one of the great joys of my life. The thinking people. There's been a bombardment of information now that having friends is crucial to health. I wonder if left-wingers have as many friends. I would love to know if there's more friendship, well, certainly among religious people. COVIDtaxrelief.org got a small retail business almost $80,000. COVIDtaxrelief.org got a manufacturing business nearly $250,000. And COVIDtaxrelief.org just got a large distribution business almost $900,000. If you run a business, church, or nonprofit and paid your employees through all or part of the pandemic, you could qualify for up to $26,000 per employee through the government's CARES Act. But beware of clickbait or pay-up-front companies that make you do the work and take a huge percentage of your refund. COVIDTaxRelief.org receives a low, reasonable commission only after you receive your refund. And with 300 CPAs and tax experts, no one is better at getting you the maximum benefit than COVIDTaxRelief.org. Visit COVIDTaxRelief.org now because this plan expires soon. That's COVIDTaxRelief.org. COVIDTaxRelief.org. Refund examples are not a guarantee and not all businesses qualify. Hi everybody, I'm Dennis Prager. Wonderful to be with you. It's an interesting question. As I said, why would, why would the lockdowns— I never say COVID, it's such a phony statement, and people aren't being intentionally phony. I just want to make that clear. The issue of 2020, 2021, and 2022 or going into 2022 was lockdowns. That's, that's what created the havoc, much more than the COVID So why would a person leave the left during COVID So I got, I got IM'd a theory on that subject. I wonder if— have any of you experienced that with anyone in your life? Someone shifting to conservative from the left because of the lockdowns, or if you will, COVID. So here, for someone like your Iraqi woman, she probably thought the left stands for freedom and the right for repression and control. And then COVID came along and demonstrated that the exact opposite is the case. Could be, no? Wow. It shows you how effective the brainwash is if there is any American who thinks that the right in America stands for repression and the left for liberty. I'm speechless. It's like saying night stands for light and day stands for darkness. It is the exact equivalent. It is not possible for the left to be in power and not have less liberty. It is not possible. Liberty is also not a left-wing value. Control. That's right, control. I keep reading Americans are buying electric cars. So did you see the number? It went from like 400,000 to 800,000. It's like 5% or 7% of the cars sold. And this is with staggering subsidies from the government. You want to hear something truly immoral? I mean, immoral means anti-moral, not amoral, meaning outside of morality, beyond good and evil in Nietzsche's terms. I mean truly immoral. The tens of billions, or is it hundreds of billions? I don't know how much money has been spent now on on green projects over the course of— over the course since they started this, uh, this false religion, this fake god?
Hundreds of billions.
Hundreds of billions. That's what I thought. I was thinking all of it is a wasteland, by the way. It is just— it is. And it just made a handful of people very wealthy. But here's why it's immoral. Think about what $100 billion could have been spent on to improve the lives of people in, in Western society. That's where the money was— has been spent. Think about it. What if $10 billion had been spent on cancer research? Or Alzheimer's research. I could cry, and I mean that literally. I could cry at the evil the environmentalists have perpetrated on us. John Kerry is about as loathsome a human being as I know outside of mass murderers. But the damage this this fake left-wing religion. It's fake, and the proof it's fake is they're anti-nuclear power. If they really wanted to get off fossil fuel, they'd have built nuclear power plants. And just think of the number of nuclear power plants we could have built, and then you could have truly gotten off fossil fuel. Just use nuclear power. Think of the desalination plants. Drought California, drought in California, drought in California. Think how many— how much does one desalination plant cost? A billion dollars? We don't need a— you don't need it. You don't need 100 of them. Israel went from a desert country to a water-exporting country thanks to desalination. And we have the whole Pacific Ocean, the largest ocean in the world. They just have the Mediterranean Sea. Think of the weapons we could have built We're worried about the, and rightly so, we may not have the stockpile left if China invades Taiwan because of what we're giving to Ukraine, and it's right to give it to Ukraine. There's one argument among the, my fellow conservatives who were opposed to aiding Ukraine, I disagree with them completely. But they are my allies in virtually every other arena, so they're my allies. I don't kick people out of my circle of allies because we differ on one subject. But I tell them, you know, when they say, oh, it's a corrupt regime in Kiev, I think, well, if we can't aid corrupt regimes, can't aid ourselves. I'm sorry, at this point, hearing that another country is corrupt, I have the opposite reaction that I've had all of my life. And it's a painful, very painful change of position. We have no right to lecture anybody about corruption. The CIA and FBI and, and virtually every elite group in the United States is utterly corrupt, dangerously corrupt. Southwest fired no one. Did any intelligence agency fire any of these 51 people, some of whom were retired admittedly, of intelligence agencies who lied in order to get Biden elected by signing a statement that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation a month before the election in 2020. They lied. For every head that I know of, of anything having to do with American intelligence is a bloody damn liar. And you're telling me Kiev is corrupt? How could you be more corrupt than that? I'm sorry, big people, adults can take bad news. But you fight. You don't despair. Thank you. Many investment advisors have been recommending cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. They claim it's the new gold. This is Dennis Prager for AmFed Coin and Bullion. Why would you buy the new gold when you can buy real gold and silver, which have maintained value for thousands of years, versus the highly volatile crypto market? When I purchase gold and silver, I do so from my friend— and I don't often say my friend in these ad copies— Nick Grovich, owner of AmFed Coin and Bullion. Coin and Bullion. I like the fact that it's tangible. I can hold it and control how it's stored, unlike digital currency that's held in a digital wallet. I want to preserve my wealth, which is far from the case with Bitcoin's spiraling drop in price. Nick's been in the precious metals industry for over 41 years, and he has established a reputation built on trust, transparency, and fair pricing. Call Nick and his team at AmFed Coin and Bullion to take advantage of his honest advice and extensive expertise. 800-221-7694. AmericanFederal.com. AmericanFederal.com. I am looking at a tweet here. I will verify it and then play it for you from a Scottish member of the Scottish Parliament that they plan to reduce car kilometers and discourage car use. They talk about the end of the private car use. Leftism, I have said this all my life. This I have known. This was not a revelation of the last few years. Leftism is totalitarianism. The only thing that stops leftists from being totalitarian is the right. Not conscience, not values, nothing. Leftism is totalitarianism. They want to control everything you do, whether it's your gas stove or it is your car use, or it is the temperature in your home, or it is the size of your home, or who will live in your neighborhood, and of course your speech. They even want to control your thought. The difference between Kim Jong-un and The left in America is opportunity. That's the only difference. If they could control your thoughts like Kim Jong-un attempts to do so, have you— I met many years ago doing research on communism, which is my field of study at graduate school. I went to Korea to interview North Korean defectors. Made a very big impression on me. For example, in a North Korean apartment, you have a speaker, not a radio. There's no such thing. A radio will get you tortured. You can't own a radio because then you could pick up South Korean stations broadcasting in your language. They have a speaker As in audio speaker. The only thing you can do with it is change the volume. You can't turn it all the way down, but you can make it lower and stronger. Of the North Korean state. If the left in America, if the Democratic Party could, that's what it would have for us. Only left-wing stations would be allowable. I want, I want that to sink in. I want you to understand there is, there is no cutoff in leftism. There's a cutoff between liberal and left. There's no cutoff among leftists. If you're a leftist, Kim Jong-un is the logical end of your leftism. Control everything about you, including how you think. Excuse me. Already young Americans have the notion, as I've mentioned to you on many occasions, 45% of young Americans according to Pew Research, which is fairly reliable in polling, at least on attitudes, I don't know if it's reliable on elections. I don't know who is. About 45% of young Americans, that's college-age Americans, say they believe in free speech but not for hate speech. That is Kim Jong-un. That is Mao. That is Stalin. I will declare what speech is allowable. Half of America's youth believe that. That should scare you way more than fossil fuels, way more than COVID. That half of young Americans believe that, that is a, uh, that is remarkable. They will determine what speech is allowed. Congrats. I congratulate the left. You have truly ruined a generation. Not every member of it. You've ruined them with fear, with anger, resentment, ingratitude, and the sick notion that they're not a boy or a girl until they declare such. Sick. And you know what? There's only one thing that gnaws at me. Well, maybe a lot of things that gnaw at me, I guess, but this is the one the most. Most people on the left never hear what I'm saying. Never hear, not just from me, from anyone. We hear them, we study under them, we read them, we watch them. They don't read us, watch us, study under us, or hear us or read us or whatever verb I missed. 1-800-PRAGER-776. You don't fight, you don't deserve America to be free. Simple as that. Okay? Oh, you're, you know, you're disgusted? Okay, fine. Just remember the guys who stormed Normandy Beach, they were disgusted too. The evil of the left is is immeasurable. I'd like to read to you what the Scottish Minister for Transport said. I don't have the date. I think it's— yeah, January 17th. Yeah, so we said it last week. Listen to this. The principle of a just transition is at the heart of our route map supporting our work to tackle inequality and child poverty. We recognize that for some people reducing car use, especially in the short term, will be more challenging, including disabled people and their families, but we also need to recognize the unfairness of a status quo where the car is king and where car use is made too easy at the expense of other healthier, fairer options. Do you understand anything I just read to you? It's truly— and so now it's not just in the name of carbon emissions, it's in the name of equality. So the disabled will not be able to have a car in the name of equality. Leftists are evil. I'm sorry to say this. Not liberals. Liberals are naive and foolish because they vote for the left. Now, not every human you know who's a leftist is evil. It would be absurd, any more than every conservative is good. But every leftist supports evil, otherwise they wouldn't be a leftist. They'd be a liberal or a conservative. This is evil. They want to control your life in the name of some utopian, really dystopian ideal. It is not possible. I've never said this before. It is not possible that as the left gains power, there will not be violence in the Western world. It is not possible. At some point, people will say you've gone too far. Will it be when they come to take your car away? When they come to put you in a smaller apartment? When, when they move people into your neighborhood who are prone to antisocial behavior? I don't know. There will be a point. It is— we are not all lobsters being boiled until it's too late. Many are. They're called liberals. Liberals are the proverbial lobster. It's a frog. Why did I think lobster? Hmm, that's funny. He said, 'Cause I'm hungry.' But I don't even eat lobster. That's the irony. That's the irony. Did you know it is a frog? What have you heard it as? I think it works for lobsters too. You can boil lobster. No, it works for lobsters, but what is the general— the general— it's at least a frog. Okay. And now this is a major moment in The Dennis Prager Show. They have not heard my producer, the living martyr. What is it? It's a living martyr sighting, you know, you know, right? It's, it's like a rare species. That was cool. I saw you press a button and go, wow. That, that's a good analogy. The liberal is the frog. You can keep boiling me until I die, but the boilers are the, are the guys on the left. This is a very scary thing from Scotland. Why the Scottish? You, you think they're the most left-wing group in, in the Western world? How did that happen? Weren't they radically pro-liberty from the, from their, from the outset? Wanted to be free from the English. And, and that's okay. Look, look at how many Americans have abandoned American values. I mean, the Scottish had an Enlightenment, their own Enlightenment. Talk about rolling in your grave, turning over in your grave. Oh my God. We recognize that for some people, reducing car use will be more challenging, including disabled people and their families. But we also need to recognize the unfairness of a status quo where the car is king and where car use is made too easy at the expense of other healthier, fairer options. What is he talking about? I'm disabled and it's fairer for me that there was no car use or much less car use? What are they talking about? How will they get around? The giveaway is challenging.
You can't go to the store to get milk and eggs.
That's challenging. Right. So why will not having a car make it easier to go for milk and eggs? I guess that's, that's, uh, it's a toughie. All right, why use the word challenging? What does that— what does challenging mean? You're focusing on equity, I'm focusing on challenging. Okay, fair. All right, Newport, California. Bob, hello.
Good morning, Dennis. Okay, first of all, they do have a speaker in the room. It's called the mainstream media. You go to your doctor and the doctor tells you what they want you to hear, not what the doctor actually thinks. If— same thing with everything we do, they're involved in. AM radio, they want to get rid of it. They want to get rid of Fox News. Everybody we talk to, all of our friends or acquaintances, they don't hear anything. Nothing. We talk to them about the border issue and what's happening. They don't see any of that.
That is correct. That's my, that's my claim. That's exactly right. They go, what are you talking about? Or if you tell them about girls' breasts being removed because they say they're boys They go, oh, that's crazy. And then they move on and they still vote for the left. With Dr. Jordan Peterson and 6 scholars teaching the Book of Exodus, 2 hours a day, be on Daily Wire. If the first 8 sessions, 16 hours recorded last August, is now up at Daily Wire, and now the Second, eighth, the next 16 hours will be coming up shortly, I presume. They had so many cameras, the editing is so excellent, the photography, it's so first class. At the end of these sessions, and we all got quite close, you could imagine. I mean, think about how much time we spent together— 16 hours in, in August and 16 hours in January. And time afterwards at a restaurant or at Jordan Peterson's home in Florida. Very, uh, it's a very beautiful thing. So I'd like to tell you what I said at the end. At the end, they asked each of us just to reflect on the 32 hours. So I said, among other things, something many of you have heard I think, because I, I'm very— as one caller put it— transparent, and I aim to be. So here is one of the things that I said. I said, I want you all to know, I think that one of the divisions of humanity that you can make is between those who want to be stars and those who want to be on an all-star team. My nature has always been I'd rather be on an all-star team than a star. That's what I felt. It's exactly what I felt. And by the way, I think they all felt that. There was no big ego at the table. I mean, we're talking about some major thinkers here. Two of them were professors of the philosophy of religion at Cambridge University. This is a high-powered crowd. And Jordan Peterson himself, who is quite a human being, remarkable man. So I also reflected on this. Name me a— name me something on the left where a group of people spend session after session talking about anything that was as deep and uplifting as what we just did? Can you think of anything? What would they study? Karl Marx? I'm not being cute. What would they study? What, what would change the lives of viewers for the better, as I know this did. 600,000 people paid to see this. That's astonishing. And I— there will be many more because there will be a brief period when they'll, they'll just put the whole thing up on YouTube, I believe. I hope I'm not giving away a secret, but then it'll be back behind the paywall, which it should be. Daily Wire spent a fortune to make this possible. God bless Daily Wire. They have— they've put teasers on YouTube. Yeah, well, good. I never thought I'd be a tease. This is— you reach status in life that you never really Never expected. But really, tell me, what, what, what is the left-wing alternative? If they had people, I mean, why would they, why would they discuss global warming, American, American racism? And, and there was virtually no even reference to the political for 32 hours. Life and meaning and good and evil. I'll give you an example, folks. I'll give you an amazing, life-changing example of an, of an insight. So the very last session was not on the Book of Exodus because Jordan Peterson wanted to finish the story with the Israelites getting into Canaan, into the Promised Land. And by the way, Jordan Peterson is— his whole life has been secular. He has begun to appreciate the utter significance of a religious outlook on life. The man is a— I very rarely say that he's a brilliant human being aside from a good one. He's brilliant, and his knowledge is astonishing. Anyway, listen to this. So the Israelites in the book of Numbers, chapter 21, I believe it is, they are attacked by snakes, and Moses instructs them to look at a bronze serpent, a bronze, and they they will no longer be in danger. It sounds like hocus pocus, correct? Right? Magic, hocus pocus, superstition. Jordan Peterson is a professor of psychology, PhD in psychology, University of Toronto professor until they kick him out. And we all— he He, he made the point, and he spoke for about 5 minutes on this, which is rare. Most people speak for a minute at a time, maybe often less. If you look at what you fear, you will no longer fear it. He spoke of an example of a patient he had who was scared of entering elevators. And he spoke about how he cured her. He actually went with her to a building with an elevator. Are you familiar with this? What? How are you familiar with this? Oh, he has talked about this? Well, I obviously— I hadn't heard it. I hadn't heard it. And if I'm missing something, you know, let me know. But basically, he just stood with her and had her watch the elevator. And then he would have her walk a few steps closer to the elevator. And obviously the end of the story is that she ultimately conquered it. I have a video up at, uh, at PragerU. Is it on fear? Yeah, is the whole— what, what is the name of it? People should watch it. Do what you fear. Do what you fear.
My—
that's my whole thesis. I mean, I loved hearing it from Jordan Peterson, and I love the fact that he tied it to Numbers 21, chapter 21. But that's the only way to conquer fear, is to do it. You're afraid of flying? Get on a damn airplane. If you have to, take 3 people with you that you know, whose hands you could hold. But get on the plane. Giving into fear— that was the greatness of FDR's comment, and I'm not an FDR fan, but truth is truth. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. That's a life-changing thing, just that, on some obscure little— I think it's 4 verses In, in the Book of Numbers, which is what I'm working on now, the fourth of the five books of the Torah. Look upon what you fear. My brother told me that when I was a child. My older brother— and younger brothers look up to their older brothers— I told him I was scared of monster movies. He said, just keep watching them until you start laughing. And that's what happened. He said the more you watch them, the less frightened you'll be. Fear is paralyzing. Fear is the root of the left. Inducing fear is the modus operandi of the left. With fear, you can do anything. You can have people deprive their children of school for 2 years. Thanks to irrational fear. Yeah, that's what they did. People hurt their children in the name of fear. Hurt their children. Yeah, your girl— your daughter says she's a boy? Give her hormone-blocking medication, otherwise she'll commit suicide. That's it. It's fear. That is the currency of the left. Ruin your— ruin society in the name of fear. The fear of climate change. Get people afraid, you can do anything, anything. The Nazis said fear Jews. Okay, we'll fear Jews. Kill them.
Yeah.

Okay everybody, Dennis Prager here, and, uh, a Scottish minister actually got up in the Scottish Parliament We should put this up at, uh, dennisprager.com. It's about this, uh, reducing the amount of mileage, or kilometrage in European terms, or worldwide terms, that a person can drive, and how ultimately they're going to get rid of cars. I read to you the statement. I read it to you last hour. Now I want you to hear it. Now, the Scottish accent may not make it— first, there were two problems with what I'm going to play for you. It's one minute, one minute and nine seconds to be precise. So there were two problems. One is the accent, but there's a bigger problem because, I mean, we speak English and It's not, it's not an English accent or British accent. It's a Scottish accent. But the bigger problem is even if he said it slowly in an American accent, you wouldn't understand it. I, uh, there were subtitles, so I followed every word, and I might even repeat it to you and you still won't understand it. But basically, the left, and there's nothing in the— no big group as left as the Scottish left in Western life. Maybe, well, maybe the American left, but percentage-wise, American left is half the country. I know you'll say that's not true. American left is 20, 30%. Liberals are more numerous than leftists. It's true, but there's no— they don't make a distinction in their own minds for liberals. That's the tragedy of America today, the liberal, who compare January 6th to communist genocides. As you heard from a caller last hour, sounds like a sweet man. January 6th, zero killed by the demonstrators. 2 demonstrators killed compared to Gulag and North Vietnam and North Korea and the Soviet Union and the Holodomor. 5, 6 million Ukrainians deliberately starved to death, ate their children. And he compared it to January 6th. I don't, I don't, uh, I, I don't get it. I don't know how you hear truth and then say I reject it. I don't know, I don't know. It's a different mindset. Anyway, listen to the Scottish minister and I'll interpret. Go ahead. On transport, our second strategic transport project review published just 2 weeks ago confirms that the era of catering for unconstrained growth in private car use is well and truly over. Okay, hold on. Did you get that? Was that clear to everybody? The era of unconstrained car use is over. Again, you must understand that the, the only difference between the left and Kim Jong-un is opportunity. If you do not rebel against the idea that they can tell you when you can drive a car, you are an ally of totalitarianism. You are an ally of evil. That is as scary as it gets. Continue. The review follows the sustainable investment hierarchy which aims to reduce the need to travel unsustainably and prioritizes making best use of enhancing existing infrastructure before investing in new capacity. Okay, I didn't understand that. I, I, I heard it just the third time. Did you understand that? Sean, Sean is currently, uh, not, not, not exactly on planet Earth. And not exactly off planet Earth. And I don't blame you, by the way. This is, uh, okay, continue. Furthermore, we have set out how we will reduce car kilometers by 20% by 2030 in our draft route map, a truly world-leading commitment demonstrating a level of ambition in meeting Scotland's statutory targets. Government have commissioned research exploring demand management options to discourage car use, and using the research findings, we will work with local and regional partners to develop a demand management framework by 2025. Okay, there you go. This is the American future, by the way. Scotland is the American future. There is no leftist— again, distinguishing from liberals— that finds what you just heard anything but beautiful. It is music. It is sublime music. Getting people out of their cars and into public transport. The car is the symbol a symbol of personal autonomy. I go where I want, when I want. That is intolerable, intolerable to leftists. If you, if you don't understand that, it's because you don't want to understand that, like my caller from last hour. 100 million people killed by communists. And then he says, yeah, but what about January 6th? My life has, uh, has been confirmation of two sources of wisdom in life. One is that the secular world shatters wisdom. The second is, if you don't accept that human nature is not basically good, you build no foundation for a good society. I really have hostility to those who believe people are basically good. When adults choose to remain naive, to live in a fairy tale, it does not elicit respect from me. I'm going to take calls. I— oh, I got so much. You know how many left-wing leaders, i.e., Democrats, said it was a hate crime before they knew anything about the mass shooting in Monterey Park, California. Turns out it was an Asian guy killing Chinese, but they had already declared it a hate crime in the Democratic Party. So a— they call him an Asian. I think from the name, I think he's a Vietnamese American, 72-year-old man very strange, murdered at least 10 people, wounded others, many others, in this Chinese New Year's attack. And the despicable people who run the Democratic Party said as follows: they called it a hate crime, and they were rooting for it to be so, because if you can get America to hate whites you can get America to hate the civilization that we live in. That's really what it's about. And, uh, it's clear whites made the West and they hate the West. Okay, these are very bad people like Karen Bass, the fool who is the the Marxist fool who was the mayor of Los Angeles. The reports coming out— this was her initial statement, I have it from Twitter— the reports coming out of Monterey Park are absolutely devastating. Families deserve to celebrate the holidays in peace. Mass shootings and gun violence are a plague on our communities. As investigations determine whether these murders were motivated by Asian hate, We continue to stand united against all attempts to divide us. Hmm, what is this attempt? Well, first of all, it's Orwellian. Nobody divides us like the left. It's gaslighting. Doesn't even come close to what it's about. We divide you and then call you dividers. And others were worse. There's a piece in the Washington Times about what left-wing politicians said about the murders, so I'll give you an example here. Okay. This is Chuck Schumer. A man who stands for Chuck Schumer. There is nothing beyond Chuck Schumer in Chuck Schumer's universe of values. If anybody should believe in God, it's Chuck Schumer, because there's no accounting for how a person of such little depth got so high in political power. That's the norm. People who live for political power are very rarely deep people. So this is what this unimpressive human being said, the Senate Majority Leader: We must stand up to bigotry and hate wherever they rear their ugly heads. Hmm, there you go. Before he knew a damn thing about what happened, at the shooting. Bigotry and hate. And anyway, I learned this when I was in college. Only whites can be racist. Your kids learn that. This is— this was— I was taught this. This is the 1970s. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries Another New York Democrat. This is a very bad combination— arrogance and superficiality rolled into one. Said he was horrified and deeply saddened. We, quote, we must crush the rise of hatred and intolerance whenever and wherever it is found. Yeah, you never know. The Vietnamese hatred of Chinese must be crushed. Wow. Let's see, we have another one. Oh, another truly unimpressive human being. Scarier than even the other two. Adam Schiff. I think of artificial intelligence when I see him speak. 10 dead in Monterey Park. I am sickened. A horrific example of needless gun violence. Okay, well, at least he acknowledges that there is sometimes needed gun violence. That's, that's good. With bigotry toward AAPI individuals as a possible motive. That is Asian American and Pacific Islanders. Yes. When I return, I will tell you actually who commit most anti-Asian crimes of violence. I wonder if you'd ever read that in any left-wing source like the New York Times. Hi everybody, welcome to the Dennis Dennis Prager Show. I told you January is the fastest month. I mean, let's be honest, it's the 23rd of January. Doesn't it seem yesterday was New Year's? January is the speediest. I have a theory on most of the months of the year. You would think February would be because it's 3 days shorter except on a leap year, but it's really January. But February then zooms by, then we're into spring, then summer, and then the year is almost over. That's right, folks, it goes fast. So you might as well do a lot of good with your life. And the best, the best good— well, it's not— there are many best goods. There isn't one best good. For most people, the best good you can do is raise a good human being, your child. That's— that's— or others, other children for that matter. That's the best single thing most people can do. The other is fight evil. Let's see, that's bigger than, uh, than even doing good. There's no good that is as good as fighting evil. So it is in the time that we have here, and have a lot of joy and fun doing it. I feel vindicated so often Warning people about the erasure of distinctions. In the 1980s, I wrote about how erasing the male-female distinction would lead to totalitarianism. The beginning of the war on tobacco. I knew the country was upside down morally. They should have— if you're going to go after anything, you go after alcohol. No, no issue divided me from my conservative listeners as much as my saying I'd much rather have my kids smoke cigarettes than weed. The number of conservatives who called the show to say, no, weed is not nearly as dangerous— like, that's the only, the only consideration is lungs, not mind— that didn't, that didn't seem to matter to them as much. Cigarettes don't damage the mind. Marijuana does. I hate marijuana. I've always hated it. But people decided to hate tobacco, including cigars, which is particularly absurd given how undangerous they are. One, uh, one other way of the many that I feel vindicated is how early on from the Happiness Hour, which is now 24 years broadcasting every Friday, told you you should date for friends like you date for a spouse. Remember that? How often I've said that? Now this big Harvard study, maybe that'll be more impressive on people. Than me, than I, has come out. The most important thing for happiness is having friends. It's so important that it adds to your life as much as cigarette smoking, inaction, and a whole host of other things. As much as they may take off years of life, friendship adds. And I don't know how you have friendship with people who are not kindred spirits. That's the thing you need to find. That's the biggest argument on a personal level for your coming out of the closet against the left where you work, or just even on, uh, not even where you work as much as through social media. You will be hated, but you will find people whom you can love. I, I don't mean love romantically. I mean love. I love a lot of people, and I mean it really. Love, it is the great, the great secret of my strength. I've always sought male friends aside from having a love in my life who was female. Very important stuff. On a completely different matter, probably wouldn't expect me to say what I'm about to say But I really, really, really, really am devoted to truth more than anything else. I hate lying, and I hate liars. Everybody tells a lie, but it doesn't make them a liar. A liar is one who does it regularly, like the mainstream media. So Alec Baldwin, Wall Street Journal. Alec Baldwin to be charged with involuntary manslaughter in fatal Rust shooting. Rust was the movie. I read to you. Prosecutors plan to charge Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the movie Rust in New Mexico in 2021, the district attorney in Santa Fe, New Mexico, said Thursday. The film's armorer overseeing weapons, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, will also be charged with involuntary manslaughter in the incident. I'll read to you more in a moment. What did Alec Baldwin do wrong? I can't stand Alec Baldwin. He's a colossal left-wing fool. But it has no impact on, on my moral read of the case. If you're handed a gun as an actor, told by one of the directors— I think, what is the term? Cold gun, I think it is. Anyway, you're handed it What are you supposed to do, shoot it to the ground to make sure there's no live ammunition? Why isn't the— why isn't that assistant director and the armorer, the one in charge of the arms, why— they are guilty. I don't know why he is. The film's assistant director, David Halls, has agreed to plead no contest to the charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon. The shooting occurred on the set of the low-budget Western outside Santa Fe, New Mexico, in October 2021. During preparations for a scene, Mr. Baldwin discharged a live round from a revolver, killing 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins. The film's director, Joel Souza, was wounded. Luke Nikas, Mr. Baldwin's lawyer, said in a statement that Mr. Baldwin had no reason to think there was a live bullet in the gun or anywhere on the film set. Doesn't that seem logical? He relied on the professionals with whom he worked who assured him the gun did not have live rounds, Mr. Nikos said. We will fight these charges and we will win. A Democrat elected to her first term in 2020, Ms. Carmack Altweis, Altweis, a Democrat said in spite of his being an A-list actor, were treating everyone the same. Ms. Carmack-Altweis said the investigation hasn't revealed how live rounds wound up on set, that the question likely won't be answered. That's very depressing. How did, how did that happen? How did live rounds get into that gun? I don't think it matters to the crux of the matter, which is that they got into a gun and then the trigger was pulled in that gun while it was pointed at Helena Hutchins. Well, it doesn't matter to the crux of the matter Well, it does matter because whoever did that is the truly guilty party. So it would seem to me that it does matter to the crux of the matter. Andrea Reed, the special prosecutor assigned to the case, said if any one of these people— Alec Baldwin, Hannah Gutierrez, or David Halls— had done their job, Halyna Hutchins would be alive today. What was— what was Alec Baldwin's job? Maybe, maybe one of you who's been on a set with, with guns, or maybe— was he expected to test the gun out? 1-8-Prager-776. I can't stand the man, but it's irrelevant. Back in a moment, The Dennis Prager Show. Reading to you from a Wall Street Journal article on Alec Baldwin, who I think is a moron and a fool and does— has done a lot of bad with his views and, uh, megaphone. But it doesn't matter. Truth is truth. Just like Donald, uh, Donald Trump was defended by Alan Dershowitz. Alan Dershowitz voted for Joe Biden. To his everlasting sadness, I hope. And he lost all his friends. See, the left doesn't understand that principle is more important than people. They don't. So if Alan Dershowitz, a lifelong Democrat liberal, defends Donald Trump, he's not my friend anymore. But I'm defending Alec Baldwin. It's a good example of the difference between liberal and leftist and conservative and leftist. Both Mr. Halls, that was the assistant producer, what was his role? Assistant director, one second. Let's see, Halls, assistant director, first assistant director, yeah. And Ms. Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer, the person in charge of arms handled the gun before it was given to Mr. Baldwin for the rehearsal in which the actor was practicing pulling out the revolver. So why aren't those two responsible? Why is he? Not only that, listen to this: according to affidavits from the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office, Mr. Halls took one of the three pop guns laid out on a rolling cart and handed it to Mr. Baldwin to film the scene Mr. Halls yelled, "Cold gun," indicating the firearm didn't have live rounds. Mr. Baldwin took the gun and fired it. Why is he responsible? Mr. Baldwin has repeatedly denied— this is, this is odd, I have to say, this I find odd— Mr. Baldwin has repeatedly denied pulling the trigger of the gun, including in a December 2021 interview with ABC News. Mr. Baldwin has said he pulled back the gun's hammer and let it go, after which the gun fired. It's like when the kid goes, ah, the grape juice spilled. He didn't spill the grape juice. According to the DA's office, a Federal Bureau of Investigation analysis shows that Mr. Baldwin pulled the trigger of the gun. Finally, Mr. Baldwin filed a lawsuit against several Rust crew members, including Ms. Gutierrez-Reed and Mr. Halls, in November. The lawsuit alleges that the crew members were negligent in their duties to protect the cast and the crew, including giving Mr. Baldwin a loaded gun. In response, a lawyer for Ms. Gutierrez-Reed said Mr. Baldwin, quote, is the only one responsible for this tragedy. A lawyer for Mr. Halls didn't comment at the time. There's a real problem in the legal profession because you have to defend your client, and, and a lot of lawyers think it's okay to lie on behalf of your client. Does there— does the— does the client for— does the lawyer for the armorer Ms. Gutierrez-Reed believe that Baldwin is, quote, the only one responsible for this tragedy? Does it? It's what I love to know. I— when people tell a lie, do they believe it? Some do, some don't, and some come to believe it if they say it enough. Like men give birth. Nobody believed it when they first heard it, and now a good chunk of the country, especially its female chunk, believes it. He is the only one responsible. She is not. She's the— so why, why is there an armorer on a movie set if he's the only one responsible? She has no role. I, I've always wondered this about lawyers, and not all lawyers lie. Obviously, I'm talking in any event about lawyers in the criminal justice system, criminal defense attorneys, some of whom are doing really noble work. But a lot of them lie with the ease with which, as I always say about the left, you breathe.
He—
how does the lawyer— if you're a lawyer and you can get into the show, I'd like to know How do you explain her lawyer saying Alec Baldwin is the only one responsible? Under what conditions would the armorer be responsible for what happened? Her entire role is the safety of the arms. To provide the arms needed, the armaments, arms, and to make sure they're safe. That's all she's there to do. The rest of the day she can listen to the Goldberg Variations by Bach. That is one great job. My friend Mike, if he's listening, loved that one. Hi, Mike. Uh, let's see here. Irvine, Jeff, hello.
Hey, Dennis, uh, what a pleasure to speak with you. Um, I've been a long, long time listener, and I just—
I've been a long, long time broadcaster.
Yeah, and everything you say just reinforces a lot of my own thoughts, and so it's just a pleasure, you know.
Good. Good.
Yeah, I have to address this thing with Alec Baldwin because anybody who picks up a weapon is obligated to check and see if there are any live rounds in it. Anybody. And, you know, to not do that and point it at somebody and then, of course, pull the trigger, which he now denies, by the way.
Yeah, I read that and I thought that was absurd. That's when I compared it to the kid who says the grape juice spilled. I didn't spill it, it spilled.
I mean, this is not a case where the, the, the, the, uh, weapon was thrown on the ground and, and it landed on the hammer and the hammer, right, you know, right, right.
So, okay, yeah, all right. So I got to take a break, uh, I will address that. Okay, everybody, Dennis Prager here. Interestingly, you wouldn't have expected it, I guess, but it's part of the charm of the show, I suppose. Talking to you about Alec Baldwin and how it seems to me, just on common sense grounds, that the armorer is the primary guilty party. The assistant director is the second. He's the one who handed the gun and said, 'Cold gun.' and Alec Baldwin is either not responsible or minimally responsible, but he is responsible if it's assumed that every time an actor gets a gun in any, in any film that utilizes guns, checks it for live ammo. Now I've never been on such a film set making a, an adventure film with guns, so I don't know. And now, if that's true, then he is responsible. If being told by the assistant, first assistant director, it's a cold gun, meaning safe, he still has to check it, then yes, then he is a guilty party. And as the last caller pointed out, and I pointed out before the last caller, he denies he even pulled the trigger, which I thought that I find hard to believe. Uh, let's— so, so here's an actor calling in, Dylan in Pittsburgh. Hello, Dylan.
Hi, Mr. Prager, it's a pleasure to talk with you. Um, just to give you some background, I worked on a TV show in San Francisco many years ago where I had to handle numerous weapons, and I'm experienced in my own life handling weapons, so I know safety procedures. Anyway, in this particular episode, I actually had to shoot and kill someone. And basically all three, uh, that you're talking about are responsible— the armorer, the assistant director, and Alec Baldwin— because the process is The armorer checks the gun to make sure there's just blanks or it's empty. Assistant director checks it's empty, safe. And the actor also does it. And sometimes there's even a fourth check. And you never point the gun at anybody, even when you're in rehearsal or when you actually do the whole, uh, shoot the scene. So Alec Baldwin is definitely responsible, along with the other two, because it is your responsibility. You're handling the gun. To double, triple check. And Alec Baldwin was top dog on that set as executive producer. He was calling the shots more than director because it was low budget. They're trying to save money. They hired a legacy hire with that young woman because of her father. She was inexperienced. They had a couple of people had walked off that set because of safety regulations being abused.
Oh, I didn't know that. Oh, wait, wait, wait. I didn't know that. That's fascinating.
Yes. Yeah, give me an example.
You have an example?
Oh yeah, because a couple of live rounds were discovered and were fired. Misfires happened on the set, I believe, 2 or 3 times prior to the killing. Prior? Yes, prior to the killing. So it was already— yes, it was already an unsafe situation. And I think Alec Baldwin was trying to save money and cut corners. And it's his job.
Has Alec— so here's— all right, so I don't know if you would know this, but do you know if he had been in any movies using a gun?
I couldn't tell you that, but he's been around a long time, a lot longer than me, and he's a much bigger star.
Okay, so you—
he knows what he's doing.
You recall from your days shooting films that the actor who would shoot a gun always tested it first?
Oh, you— oh, and you do it with the armor and another person.
Okay, then he is— then I was wrong.
Safety is a priority.
Yeah, no, clearly.
Yeah.
All right, all right. Thank you. If that's the case, this doesn't seem to be complex. He was negligent, she was negligent, and the first assistant director was negligent. That there, there really is only one remaining, and it's huge, and maybe apparently will never be answered. How did live ammunition get into that gun? Oh, I would love to know that. Frankly, that's up there with why did God make the mosquito for me. All right, I'm going to move on here, but I'm going to summarize some of your calls before, before I do, so don't hang up. The tragedy is so intense. Also, I didn't know that you don't aim at anyone even if you believe it is blanks, even if you know it's blank. Well, Does anybody know, is there another situation of somebody being killed on set by a gun aimed at them? Dennis Prager here. Thanks for listening to the Daily Dennis Prager Podcast.
