In this segment of Dennis Prager’s show, guest Maddie Millennial shares her personal experience of economic hardship despite having a college degree and a decent job. She describes living with her parents at nearly 30, being unable to afford groceries, car payments, and other basic expenses, and questions how anyone can claim the country is "okay" given such conditions. Prager responds with empathy, noting her situation and recalling Bill Clinton’s famous phrase “It’s the economy, stupid,” while challenging the notion that voters primarily base decisions on economic issues. He argues that many voters, both religious and left‑wing, are driven by social or ideological concerns—environmentalism, feminism, socialism, Marxism—rather than pure economics. Prager cites a New York Times article showing that many Americans stay home because they can’t afford leisure activities, reinforcing the narrative of a deteriorating economy. He concludes by blaming Democratic policies for creating racial division and economic decline, positioning the left as destructive to American life.
Her name is Maddie Millennial, and obviously you could watch her if you're watching my show, or you could hear her if you're just listening. Take it away.
So like many Americans, up until recently I did not care about politics. Quite honestly, I didn't even vote until 2020. Um, I've ended friendships over views. That are just not okay. Why do I have a college degree and I make decent money and I'm living with family? I can't afford groceries, I can't afford my car payment, I can't afford anything. My parents have to help me, quite honestly, and I'm gonna be 30 years old. I really want to know, this is my question for the people that think that this country is okay, what are you watching? What algorithm are you on to think that this country is okay? What job do you have? What do your bills look like? What is your income? Like, I really want to know because I am just lost. I am so confused.
Wow. What are you watching? That's a great question. My heart breaks for her. She's 30 and living with her parents. She's bright, she's attractive, she's articulate. I hope she gets proposals from good men. Wow. Yeah. Bill Clinton famously said when he was running for president, "It's the economy, stupid." It's become a very famous phrase in American political life. "It's the economy, stupid." And it's interesting, I never fully bought that. He meant, of course, that That's the way Americans vote. They vote on the economy. Some do, but not people with ideologies, good or bad. Religious Americans don't all vote on economics. Many religious Americans vote on social issues. Many left-wing voters vote on social issues too because they have a religion that they adhere to as deeply as Christians do to Christianity, and that is all the leftist religions: environmentalism, feminism, socialism, Marxism. Yep. So it is not true. Maybe it was once true Americans voted on the, on economic issues, but it is No longer true for many on both sides, but it certainly is a valid question. The prices— I read to you at the Happiness Hour on Friday, there was an article on why more Americans than ever don't leave the house. I don't mean ever leave the house, but leave the house less than ever. And all of the most popular comments of the hundreds or thousands of comments on the article, the New York Times subscribers, readers reacted to the article and they all said, we can't afford to leave the house. That's right, they can't afford to leave the house. To go to a restaurant, to go to a show, to go to a ballgame. God, she's almost 30 and living with her parents. God, I grew up in such a different America. A bright attractive girl like that when I grew up, she'd now be, I mean, marry and have 3 kids. And I think, and be able to afford to, if she wanted to, to be able to afford to stay home with those kids. Because what you could buy with a dollar then. It's a very— it's actually a very, very sad video. That's why they have to tell you that it doesn't matter that we've wrecked your life racially. We've created staggering hatreds and anger between the races, all created by the Democrats. All of it. All they do is destroy because they're leftists. They're no longer liberals.
