Dennis Prager argues the political left has abandoned patriotism, conflating it with nationalism. He contrasts his childhood when American flags flew everywhere on Independence Day with today, when displaying the flag is often called fascist. He contends love of country is a liberal and conservative value, not a left-wing one.
