There was never a time, or virtually never a time, when parents could look at the world, or would-be parents, adults could look at the world and say, ah, things are going so well, I really want to make kids. The irony is when things are affluent and good and so on, people don't have kids. So they have every reason, if there's affluence and things are great, I don't want kids, they're gonna cramp my style. They're gonna impinge upon my freedom when there's so much I could do in this wonderful world. If the world is going bad, why would I want to bring kids into a bad world? So it's almost like there's always a reason not to have kids. But there's no hope for the world if wonderful people like you don't have kids.
