Dennis Prager argues people act on what they want, not what they can't control. Politicians keep bad positions because they benefit, not from lack of courage. Real change comes from shifting behavior through incentives, not emotional appeals.
People do what they want to do. If I gave somebody $100,000 to shut their mouth and not bring up any family problem, how much you want to bet that they would shut up? That is— people don't control themselves because they don't want to control themselves. There's no such thing as I can't control myself.
I agree. That's my whole leftist thing. I think they, they realize that their positions are crap, but they don't want to be brave and change them, or at least publicly come out against them because they think it personally and professionally advantages them. I agree with you that it's about wanting. There are some people who are just too far gone. And if there's anything I've realized in my life—
condition is pathetic. You can't control—
there's only, there's only managing the situation.
I am— the reason I raise this is I want to go back to my whole thesis of life: you make a better world behaviorally, not emotionally.
