How I Manage My Time (for Fitness and Personal Wellbeing)

A mother and community leader shares her daily routine: meditation and a non-negotiable one-hour workout, then a black diary system with a habit tracker and prioritized to-do list limited to six tasks. She marks completed items in red pen with hearts, logs out at 7:30 PM for family time, and emphasizes that you have 24 hours, not a time shortage.

Hello and welcome back. This is one question that I get asked all the time: how do I manage my time? Well, I'm known to be a multitasker. I became one because I wanted to achieve a lot of things. I want to do a lot of things. And very early on in my life, I realized that if I want to achieve a lot of things, I should know how to and figure out how to do a lot of things at the same time. And many people come back to— come back and tell me that we don't have the time, especially to work out. We don't have the time to look after ourselves. I figured that out when my older son was born. When he was born, I wanted to start my fitness journey. Every time he would be sleeping, I would be working out, and every time he was away, I would be eating so that my food was digesting and I was able to work out and feel fit. So the first thing I want all of you to know is where there is, where there is a will, there is a way. Now when it comes to me, how I manage my time, I lead an extremely tight schedule now with a community of over 4,000 people, working with them digitally every single day, showing up for my tribe, showing up for my community. Takes up a lot of my time, but don't forget that my first priority is my family. Like you, I'm a mom. Like you, I'm a wife, and I have elders to look after. So I have the same, same things that you have. The only difference is I manage my time. And in this video, I want to tell you exactly how you can manage my time— manage your time. These are the things that I did for myself. The first thing I do is, as soon as I wake up, I finish my meditation practices, my affirmations, everything, my mind programming. For me, priority is mind programming. I finish my mind programming practices, and then immediately I get into my gym wear because I know that not working out is not an option. What I practice, I have to preach. So I get into my workout gear and do one, one hour of workout. Every single day, however busy I am. Now, when there are days there's lots to cook, I get started in the kitchen when I'm not taking a live session for my community. On the other 3 days, I go to my kitchen. While I'm cooking, while the onions are frying, or while the pressure cooker is on, while something— the meats are cooking or the veggies are cooking— while I'm doing that, I'm still doing my workout and doing multitasking. So when I do that, also able to work on my workouts, and I'm also able to cater to my family. That's the first thing that you need to do is don't get hung up about doing only one thing at the same time. And at the same time, I'm doing things around the house, maybe picking up the house, maybe tidying the living room. So there's a lot that's going on. So when it comes to your workouts, it doesn't have to be that dedicated one hour, I'm not going to budge. Nobody enter my room. Don't make such a big deal out of it. Find the time to do it. And as soon as all that is over, breakfast is over, I finish my shower and I come to my desk. The first thing that I do is in my black diary, which is right here, I'm going to show it to you. Not very tidy, I'm going to show it to you. The first thing that I do is I write down all the things that I have to finish for the day. So I write small things. I start by— I have a tracker, habit tracker. So I start by— the first thing I write is habit tracker, and after that I write items, work that has to be done on priority basis. Now I also gauge my day. If there is a— if it is a day where I have to go out either for a lunch or I have to go to the supermarket to shop for the family or to go to the mall to shop for myself, I write even that down. I write that down because if I write too many tasks to be done in a day, I know I'm not going to be able to complete it. If I don't complete it, I feel very demotivated and I'll stop writing. I've gone through this many times and this is what has worked for me. And as and when I complete my tasks, I'll show you I'll show you right here. I keep a black pen and I keep a red pen. With a black pen, I write down all the things that I have to write— I have to do. With the red pen, I keep ticking off all the things that I have done. That makes me feel really happy. When I feel really happy, I make a little heart or a smiley face. Do things that you can complete in a day. On a priority basis. When I ask some of my Quantum members, they say, oh my God, my to-do list has got 21 items. My to-do list has only 6 items in a day. Why? Because at the— in the evening, I still want to get up, get out of my desk, and again do my workout. That is my time. So you have to strike that balance between your family, your work, and your own body. However busy I am the whole day and how much ever work I have, how many ever one-to-one calls I have to complete, whatever it is I have to do, I complete it by 7:30 sharp. At 7:30 in the evening, I log out of my laptop and I shut down and I go and spend that evening with my family, whether we are watching a TV serial or a movie. Are we just chit-chatting about our day? So for me, I prioritize my life with the to-do list that I can manage, that I can control, that I have control over. Now, for some reason, I've not completed my job, my tasks for the day. I cross it and I immediately write it on the next day. Now, the next day, if I'm going to be out of the desk all day long, I make sure I don't write it there. I write it on the day after that. So use your mind. Use these simple techniques. There are many techniques out there, but these are my own techniques which I've shared with you. And when I do these things, I'm able to manage my time better. Try this out and time management will never be an issue. And the last but not the least, the most important tip I want to give you is don't say I don't have the time. Experience the abundance of time because you have 24 hours in a day. And don't say I— 24 hours are not enough. Experience that abundance and you'll be able to manage your time better. Hope you like the video.
