This is a YouTube talk titled "How To Prevent A Heart Attack" (created 2022-01-03) featuring a single speaker, Dheenas, speaking from her home office in Hyderabad. It is a personal, informational monologue that combines family experience (her father died of a heart attack at 51) with lay explanations of what a heart attack is, common risk factors (age, diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking, sedentary lifestyle, obesity, poor diet, cholesterol, and stress), types of heart attacks (including silent/asymptomatic events), common symptoms (chest pain, breathlessness, nausea, dizziness), and urgent actions (seek medical care, ambulance, CPR). Dheenas cites guidance from the American College of Sports Medicine, recommends lifestyle changes—regular exercise (minimum three times per week, ~45 minutes), stress management, meditation/visualization, and muscle work—to reduce risk, and emphasizes prevention and awareness. She notes she is not a medical doctor and urges listeners to seek professional care when needed.

I am speaking to you from my home office here in Hyderabad, and in today's session I will be talking to you all about heart attacks and may give you some brief information which you can absorb and digest. First and foremost, you need to know that there are some risk factors involved. According to the ACE, American College of Sports Medicine, which is the ACSM, the American College of Sports Medicine. They do all the research and they allow— they lay out the risk factors and they lay out the guidelines. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, there are a few risk factors for you possibly could get a heart attack. Number 1, men above the age of 45 could possibly get a heart attack. Women above the age of 55 Diabetes, blood pressure, smoking, stress. People leading a sedentary life, which means you're sitting at your desk for more than 8 hours, is also a reason that you could get a heart attack. But today, top of the list is stress. If you are leading a stressful life and you're leading a sedentary life, I want you to know that there is a huge possibility that you are at risk of getting heart attack and you need to know everything about it so that you can take adequate action to prevent a heart attack. So what exactly is a heart attack? Heart is a very small muscle. It pumps blood. I'll make it very simple for you. It pumps blood. Blood— bad blood goes in and good blood comes out, and it goes into our body. And again, the bad blood from the muscles, working muscles, goes into the heart, gets purified, and sends it back to the blood. Sometimes the walls of the heart— remember, it's a muscle— so the walls of the heart would have thickened because of plague, bad diets, KFC, fried foods, sweets, cholesterol deposits over there. Junk food, eating a lot of food, obesity is also a risk factor. Because of all these reasons, the walls of the heart might be thickened and the arteries start getting thickened. And sometimes when the blood goes in for purification, there is a constriction over there and the blood does not come back to the working muscles and the blood does not go back to the brain. If the blood does not go back to the brain even for a fraction of a second, you are going to get a stroke. And if the blood does not flow in and out of the heart freely, the heart stops working for a brief second, and that is called a heart attack. There are several types of heart attacks. I'm not a medical doctor, but I can only tell you that there are asymptomatic, heart attacks and symptomatic heart attacks. The asymptomatic heart attacks are scary because you don't have a symptom and you suddenly drop dead. And you've seen, learned a lot of people— a lot of people have gone to bed in the night and have never woken up because they had a silent heart attack. But a lot of people have symptoms. Like chest pain, breathlessness, tightness, nausea, dizziness. So if you know somebody around you who's going through this indigestion, who's going through these symptoms, you immediately need to take them to a doctor. If you are not a doctor and if you don't have a doctor around you and if you don't know how to do CPR, either throw them in a car and take them to a hospital or get an ambulance ASAP and take them to the hospital and let the hospital deal with the situation. So therefore it is very important for you to look after yourself so that you don't get a heart attack. But you need to be aware that these things can happen to anyone at any age. Therefore, it's important for you to change your lifestyle. Wake up, guys, wake up! When are you going to wake up? When you get a heart attack? No! Start exercising on an everyday basis. Again, according to the American College of Sports Medicine, you need to do minimum 3 days a week workouts for 45 minutes to prevent a heart attack. You need to get your heart rate up and work at a certain intensity. to prevent a heart attack. You need to work on your muscles, you need to work on your stress, need to work on your mind. The mind plays a major role because stress is a huge factor. It's a silent factor and not many people are aware of it. And to avoid stress, to prevent stress, or to deal with it, you need to have a very strong mind. And programming your mind on a day-to-day basis is very important. The right kind of meditation, the right kind of visualizations, the right kind of techniques to let go. When you learn these right kind of techniques to let go, you will be able to deal with this in a better manner. So don't take this lightly. Don't think— when my father died at the age of 51, and I was just a young girl, We didn't think that heart attacks would happen in our homes. He did not know that he would have a heart attack at the age of 51. So therefore, it is important for you to take adequate action, prevent a heart attack, and if someone is getting a heart attack around you, get them to a doctor immediately. Look after yourselves, guys, because It's your body and it's your heart. Thank you.
