Will Women Bulk Up With Weight Training

Deenaz explains why women won't bulk up from weight training. Lower testosterone and higher estrogen make rapid muscle gain unlikely. Resistance training builds strength, burns more calories at rest, and increases bone density, which a year-long program showed could improve by 2% in women over 70.

Hi, my name is Deenaz, and this video is for all you beautiful ladies out there who are scared of weight training. Have you felt that you might bulk up if you do weight training? Are you scared of weight training? Is it like you'll become big and bulky like a man? I'm sure that a lot of women these days have fears about bulking up. But I have some awesome news, and so keep watching this video right up till the end. In this video, I will be sharing what happens when you do weight training when you are a man and what happens when you do weight training when you're a lady. So when you are a lady, I mean, for all the women out there, you do not have the big bulky testosterone muscle— that testosterone hormone that actually causes you to bulk up. So when you do weight training, you will not bulk up as fast as men do. So we as women have more estrogen and we have less of, less testosterone, and men have it the other way around. So when we talk about workouts, women are always constantly just focusing on cardio workouts, which is walking. I rarely see women going into the gym And most of the times women are scared to bulk up. So I want you to know that for men to bulk up as well, there is a certain kind of a routine which involves a lot of sets and lot of weights and a lot of heavy reps, and that causes the muscle to bulk up. And that's like an almost a 12-month long routine. We women need not be worried about that because when we work with smaller weights and we work with more repetitions, we are constantly focusing on toning the muscle more rather than bulking up. So first and foremost, I want you to do one thing for me and listen to me carefully. One most important thing is let go of your fears of— let go of your fears that you're going to bulk up if you do weight training. I can assure you that you will not bulk up provided you do things in the right way. A, because you have less testosterone. So when you want to start weight training, The advantages of weight training are way more than your fears of bulking up. So let me share some of the advantages of weight training. Some of the best advantages of weight training are your muscles will get stronger. So when you do cardio activities, you're burning fat for that moment, but when you do weight training, your muscles are becoming slightly bigger, slightly stronger, and these muscles are what is actually going to help you to burn more fat in your cardio segment. So when you do a weight training session, say today you've done a 1-hour weight training session, for the rest of the day your metabolic rate will stay up. So you're actually burning calories throughout the day. But if you do a walking schedule like a cardio walk, then you're burning calories and your metabolic rate is high for that 1 hour, and for the rest of the day it's not that high. So the biggest, biggest advantage of weight training for women especially is that their metabolic— your metabolic rate will stay high and you will be burning calories throughout the day. A lot of women as they grow into their menopausal years and post-menopause are at risk of getting osteoporosis, and that's nothing but when the bone density starts to come down, your calcium in the body starts coming down because your estrogen levels have come down, and so that's why you are at a risk of osteoporosis. There was one German scientist called Dr. Wolf, and he said that as you put pressure on the muscle and on the joint, your density of your body, of your bones, will go up. So as you're doing weight training, your bone density will go up and your bones will become stronger and much more taut, much more toned. And I actually did this, did this test on a handful of 4-5 senior women who were 70 and 75 years, and I got their bone density checked before I started the program. And I ran an entire year's exercise program, weight training program on them, and a year later I could see that their bone density had actually gone up by 2%. So there are huge advantages of weight training. So women out there, don't get scared. It's okay to do weight training. Don't worry about bulking up because it's way more advantages for you to do weight training rather than for you to be scared and not do weight training. So go out there and start your weight training schedule.
