Day 4: The Benefits of Being with Optimistic People

Dr. Don Wood (founder of the Inspired Performance Institute) introduces Day 4 of the "12 Days of Heart" series—short video tips for reducing holiday anxiety. In this chunk he greets viewers, frames the series, cues holiday music via Alexa, and makes a lighthearted remark about the "fourth day of Christmas" lyric (calling vs. "collie"/blackbirds). The piece is conversational and intended to lead into a tip about optimism and being around optimistic people.
You.
Welcome to the 12 Days of Heart. And heart stands for holiday anxiety reduction tips. This is day four. My name is Dr. Don Wood. I'm the founder of the Inspired Performance Institute, and I'm your guide throughout this series of tips on how to reduce anxiety. So this is day four. We're going to get into the holiday spirit again. To kick it off.
There we go. Right or left? It's like the same thing with graduation. It was supposed to go see it better on the right. Let's get Alexa involved. Alexa, play some holiday music.
Here's a station you might like. Holiday favorites on Amazon. Holiday favorites.
There's no place like home for the holidays. Isn't that true? So perfect song. So let's go. Fourth day of Christmas, what did the true love bring? So let's look. On the fourth day of Christmas true love gave to me Four calling birds. Seriously, what's this obsession with birds? I mean, really, Come on. Okay. But. Oh, okay, this is interesting. I didn't know this. The question is, is it calling birds or collie birds? It looks like it may have been collie C, O, L, L, Y birds, which really refers to blackbirds. Okay, so now we got birds that we thought were singing collie birds, and they're actually not. They're just blackbirds that really don't sing and partridges that don't fly or hang. Don't hang around in trees. Okay, whatever. So it's the fourth day, whether it's calling or collie birds. Right.
Obviously, the person bringing these gifts. Right. Really is believing. They're pretty optimistic that something's going to hit here. So they like the bird theme. The bird theme seems to be working. So anyway, they're optimistic something's going to happen. And that's really the tip for day four, right? Optimism. So optimism is the key to defeating anxiety. If you're an optimistic person. Right. You really, really will make your life totally different. You know, some people will talk about optimism. I'm really a pessimist. I don't believe that. I don't believe they're a pessimist. I just believe they're low on optimism. So optimism, the higher your optimism is, the more relaxed you're going to be in these kinds of things when your true love keeps bringing your birds. So optimism will defeat anxiety. Hang around optimistic people, especially around the holidays. So if you're feeling a little anxious, you're feeling a little down. Right. Get around your friends that are really optimistic. Find the most optimistic friends person you know, whether it's a friend a family member, whatever. Just hang out with them, call them, get a little bit of insight from them. Just being around them will make you feel more optimistic. And when you're optimistic, the more you hang around optimistic people, the more optimistic you are. You're building up your resiliency, and that makes it a lot easier. So when things like anxiety come up, you're a lot more resilient. Right. So be optimistic, practice it. Hang around optimistic people. And maybe if you're really optimistic, your true love will stop sending you a whole bunch of herbs. All right, so stay tuned for more of these tips. Look for them in your inbox. And there it is.
