You.
Welcome to the 12 days of heart. And heart stands for holiday anxiety reduction tips. My name is Dr. Don Wood, and I'm going to be your host through this series and be your guide. So I want to start off by getting into the spirit. The holiday season can bring a ton of emotions, including anxiety, and that's normal. There's nothing wrong with you. And as we say at the Inspired Performance Institute, there's nothing wrong with anybody. There's nothing wrong with anybody's mind. Our minds work perfectly fine, so when anxiety comes up, we can calm it. So we're going to show you how to do that through this series. First, let's get in the spirit of the holidays. I'm going to start off with my hat.
And we'll put that on.
Like a little saying, I've been good, because I have. Right. It's a little tight. That's okay.
Alexa, play some holiday music.
Holiday favorites. Oh, perfect. So we're going to use the theme of the 12 Days of Christmas. And so the 12 Days of Christmas people are generally familiar with it, but we're going to use that as our theme throughout this series. So on the first day of Christmas. Let's just look this up. What did. So on the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me A partridge in a pear tree. I don't get it. But anyway, that's what this says. It's a partridge in a pear tree. So what does that mean? So there's a lot of symbolism around partridges and pear trees, I'm sure. So let's just do a little research and see what it's all about. So partridge and a pear tree. Oh, cool. I just got an ad for 40% off of partridges. That's cool. That's really good. Oh, I've got another coupon here for buy one, get one pear tree from Lowe's. That's really good. I'm gonna take advantage of that. Hold on one sec. Perfect. There we go.
My wife just got the email. It's okay. Yeah, that was me. Great deals. So, okay. Partridge in a pear tree. What does it mean? Let me just look it up. A partridge. Oh, that's strange. Partridges don't go into trees. They're ground birds. What was the author thinking? Didn't he do any research on this again? They didn't have Google then, so I guess not. So let me see. So back to the research.
As you can see, the tip for day one is laughter. So we need to laugh. It's impossible to have anxiety if you're laughing. So laughing is basically the antidote to anxiety. So if you have a favorite movie, a favorite comedian, something that just makes you laugh, laughing reduces the anxiety by producing endorphins in the brain. You chemically change your brain when you laugh and so that's where anxiety can't exist, can't live. So I have favorite movies. I love Planes, Trains and Automobiles with John Candy and Steve Martin. That's maybe my favorite movie. It's a Thanksgiving but it's still holidays. I could watch that movie a hundred times and I laugh every time. Or maybe you like Chevy Chase and Christmas Vacation Home Alone. Those are all great movies to make you laugh. Or maybe you have a comedian. Whatever it is, find something that makes you laugh. And believe me, trust me, you will not feel anxious when you're laughing. And there it is. Now also remember that there's more tips coming so keep looking for your inbox. You're going to see more tips coming in. And there it is. Have a great holiday.
