Hi, I'm Dr. Don Wood of the Inspire Performance Institute. We hear a lot of talk right now with this coronavirus about our immune system. So do you really know what your immune system is doing for you and how it works? It's a brilliant device. Our immune system is basically our white blood cells that are going to come in and fight any kind of an infection, foreign invader that comes into our body. It can not only fight it, it can identify what it is. And the more experience it has with something, the easier it is for it to fight it. So the coronavirus is something new. Your system may not be able to identify as quickly, so it will take a little bit longer, but it will identify and it will fight it. The stronger your system, the better able you are to fight it. Now think of it this way. I'm originally from Canada, so I can say this. So the Canadian army is not as big and strong as the US Military. So if you think about the Canadian army being the foreign invader and the US Military being your army, your immune system obviously is going to be able to be much stronger to fight. Doesn't say anything about the Canadian army not being good fighters and tough, but it's just a volume. So if the immune system can get in and fight early and take it out before it builds any mass, then it's going to defeat this foreign invader. Now reverse that and make the Canadian army your immune system and your foreign invader, the US Military, if it comes on and it's not strong enough to fight, it's just going to overwhelm it. And so what we need to do is to. This is an opportunity to really start thinking about how do I make my immune system even better, even stronger. So we don't need to wait because this virus may be around, they say basically 18 months before we really develop a great way to battle it. So for 18 months, you've got a chance now to continue strengthening your immune system. Start eating a lot of fruits and vegetables. Vitamin C. I use vitamin C all the time. I very, very rarely get sick. I've got a strong immune system. The vitamin C for me is not necessarily fighting the infection. It's flushing it. So it's basically can't build any momentum because it's constantly getting pushed out. Drink plenty of water. Exercise is a good thing. Start using probiotics, strengthen that gut. So there's a lot of things you can do now to be proactive to improve it. What you have to remember is your immune system right now may be fighting things not the coronavirus, but other things. I mean, a lot of people who aren't even symptomatic for flu, but they're actually got a flu virus in them, but their immune system is taking care of it. So your immune system is doing a lot of things you don't even know about on a day to day basis. So we need to appreciate it, help it build up its strength. So give it the tools to fight. And chances are, if you ever do contract or get this virus in you, your system should be strong enough to be able to fight it if you have taken the right precautions. So take care and good luck.
