Struggling with ADHD?

Dr. Don Wood argues ADHD isn't a fixed brain defect but an adaptive response to childhood stress, where kids learn to shut down and avoid focus. He offers his TIP program and audio series to retrain the brain and address root causes.

A lot of people will say, well, I struggled in school because I have adhd. What it actually is, the mind can't stay focused for very long, so it's easily distracted. A lot of people will say, well, there's something wrong with the brain, so they're going to put them on some kind of ADHD medicine. What I say ADHD is, is coming from a stressful childhood. If you had a lot of stress in your childhood, children don't have the ability to either fight the stress or, or run away from the stress. So how do they defend themselves against all this stress? They tune it out. They shut down. So they stop focusing deliberately so they don't have to focus on the stress, so they become easily distracted so that they can do anything but focus on this stress. Now what's happening is their brain in that early development, what is it learning to do? Shut down, tune out. So would you be able to focus when you get into school? Would you be able to focus when you become an adult? No, because you trained your brain not to. ADHD is actually a function of the brain. It's a protection against stress. So what's the answer? Retrain the brain. The TIP program that we use is really designed to. First, let's get to the root cause, which is what created the adhd. Once we have that resolved, the code about ADHD is still running, so the mind still knows how to deal with stress by not focusing. We have an audio series that are all designed to teach your mind how to focus. Again, retrain the brain. That's the solution to adhd.
