So researchers have found that measuring the APOB may directly predict your heart and blood vessel disease much better than your cholesterol panel because it is APO B protein carries 1 to 1 with LDL. So having said that, it is a good risk predictor for people with metabolic syndrome or diabetes because the LDL may be a little smaller or denser and therefore a lipid panel or cholesterol panel may not show that accurately at this point.
