Hidden Dangers of Online Sexual Supplements

Do you know that over the counter sexual supplement can be tainted with prescription medicine that you could be taking Viagra or Cialis or even testosterone without even knowing it?

In this episode, we're going to go over sexual supplement that you can buy online that is tainted with prescription drugs that are not safe for you. So I'm gonna dive into it right now because I have seen this in my patient where they come to see me for ED after many, many years and with buying supplements online to help them with their ed. And they said they're not on testosterone, they don't take Viagra or Tadalafil. I would do blood work and lord and behold, in the blood work I would see high level of testosterone or we would see that there's Viagra in there. And they show me the supplement they've been taking and on the ingredient, you don't see anything about testosterone or Viagra, but yet it shows in their blood. And this is more common than it is uncommon. And the reason why it is dangerous is because the reason why testosterone and Viagra or Cialis is a prescription is because they have very severe interaction in your body if not monitored by a physician. For instance, if you take Viagra and then you have high blood pressure that combined with an antihypertensive or medicine that lower your blood pressure, you can, can have such low blood pressure that you can pass out or that you can have a heart attack or even had a stroke because you're taking the supplement and you don't know that it has Viagra in there. And Viagra, how it works is that it relaxes the penis muscle, but by doing that, it also lowers your blood pressure as well. And it also has other side effects such as stomach upset, stuffy nose, headache, dizziness and visual problems. So you may be taking a prescription medicine when you're just taking over the counter medication. And that's why I did prescription in the first place. And testosterone is actually a scheduled drug. It is on the same level as a pain medicine and it has to be prescribed. But yet I have seen several of my patients that take over the counter supplement and we do their blood work and I see testosterone high level in their blood work. And. And why is that dangerous? Because high level testosterone can be dangerous for not only your heart, but also your prostate as well too. And they need to be monitored on a frequent basis because testosterone can convert to dihydrotestosterone, which is can affect hair loss as well as enlargement of the prostate. It can be converted to estrogen which can cause you to have fat deposit on your breasts as well as your love handle. So very serious side effects that should be monitored by a physician. And from blood work on September 9th I saw this article. This is the FDA. So the FDA monitor prescription drug but do not monitor over the counter supplement. There's too many to monitor but they only screen some that are reported to them and just know that somebody can make a supplement and in the garage and bring it by the store that you see and say hey if you sell this I'm going to give you a commission or something like that. So it's not monitored, you don't know the potency, you don't know what's in it. So on this website here on this page and I'm going to link it in the show note for you so you can refer to it. Tainted sexual enhancement and energy product that are in the supplement that is over the counter. What's the dangerous part? You can buy this over the counter and yet it's it has prescription medicine in it and the FDA cautions you in using these products. So on this website here I think it was like 50 pages of sexual enhancement product that is tainted with prescription medicine such as either testosterone or Viagra or Cialis for instance. These two, there's many, many, many of them. I can't list it. I just got these two because they were identify on September 5th of 2023. And this one has Sudenophil which is Viagra in it. When it is supposed to be over the counter it says men's maximum energy supplement. And this one here in the bottom Big Guy Extreme powder is marketed for focus, energy and mood. Nothing on here says for sexual. And then this one here has both Sudenophil and Tadalafil which is Cialis and Viagra in it and it's named 10,000K infinity and it is marketed as an energy supplement. And this one here is a natural miracle Zen. It's marketed for energy and stamina and it has Viagra and Sudenophil in it. And so what I suggest is if you are wondering if what product to buy, I have a website here, health fraud product database. You can go to this link and then type in the product that you are thinking about buying online and see if they've been reported as fraud. If it is, don't buy it because it's not safe for you. And the website on the second time is for the sexual enhancement product. I was amazed because when I was on the health Fraud Product Database 196 pages of product that had undeclared ingredients such as prescription drugs. And on there they have products that are sold on Amazon that have medication as far as steroid in it, a medication that help you breathe better, not only for sexual enhancement, but for other prescription medicine as well. And just be really careful, the older you are, the more sensitive you are to side effects of the prescription medication. Protect yourself. If you are buying stuff online, you do not know the effectiveness and the potency of that. So go to the product database. I'll link it in the show note. And if you plan on buying something, type in the name of the product on there to see if it shows up or not. And this is for all supplement, by the way. It doesn't have to be a sexual product, it's all supplement. I am just very surprised that this is going on because I started to see this in my patient more common than uncommonly. And I was very surprised because it shocked me. And what happened is that when we do blood work and we see this, the patients that they're not on any type of testosterone or under a treatment of any doctor or anything, we have to repeat the blood blood work again, they have to get off of their supplement. Sometimes we have to wait for like a month to repeat the numbers and to see what their real numbers are. And these medication, the reason why I did prescription for a reason, it has severe interaction, it could affect your liver, your kidney, and definitely if you're taking other medication, it will have adverse side effects as well. So I can't stress you enough to check the fraud product website out before you buy anything online. And that's the reason why I only get my supplement from a pharmaceutical company that makes supplements. That way I know that it is FDA cleared approved, that is 100% potent and there is nothing tainted in the product. And I know that it is pure. Oftentimes get it from the doctor that you're working with, you buy the supplement from. And also if the claim is too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. And just do your research from now on going forward and talk to your doctor oftentimes about what you're going to buy online first because your doctor may be able to look it up for you and will tell you that as well. I'm very concerned about this process going on in having prescription medicine tainted in supposedly benign supplement that you buy at either at the gas station or convenience stores or in vitamin shop but they actually have prescription medicine on there.
