This is a short podcast/video segment (host: Dr. Anne Truong) explaining what Peyronie’s disease is, how it forms (scar/plaque in the tunica albuginea often after micro-injury or via autoimmune processes), and how it can cause penile curvature and contribute to erectile dysfunction. The host outlines management options (Xiaflex, PRP injections, surgery when severe) and recommends evaluation (including blood work for autoimmune disease) and specific supplements (vitamin E 1000 units and vitamin D3 ≈5000 units). The episode closes with a call-to-action to join the Modern Man Club for more guidance.

This podcast is for you.
The modern man. I'm Dr. Anne Truong, your host.
I'm an intimate health medical doctor and best selling author of the book Erectile Dysfunction Fix. I'll do a deep dive into sexual health and performance and and how it affects men of all ages and backgrounds. So let's get started and be sure to visit my website@sexualhealthformenpodcast.com for more information and resources from the show. See you on the inside.
What is Peyronie's disease? Peyronie's disease is a connective tissue disorder that causes a little plaque plaque or little nodule on the penis that causes a curvature. It affects about one in a hundred men, but likely, probably more, it's undiagnosed. So essentially it's almost related to trauma to the penis or maybe an autoimmune condition where you have little scar tissue that is actually present in the tunica albuginea, which is the fibrous, fibrous fascia that lines the penis muscle or the corpus cavernosum. It starts out as a scar that feels like a pimple or feels like a little rice grain that is in your penis. So when you feel may or may not be uncomfortable, but it's there and sometime if left for a long time, the scar will get bigger and create a curvature, either a small curvature or large curvature. And it really occur because a micro injury that happened in the penis and about 20% of men will notice some type of injury, but the rest doesn't really recall any type of incident that may cause that. Now depending on the curvature, it may be uncomfortable for you and or your partner and sometimes because of the curvature of the penis it lead to more of situational anxiety, of performance anxiety because you feel anxious or embarrassed about the curve to some degree. But the point is if you notice a little nodule or not in your penis, get it diagnosed, go see a sexual health expert and because it will get worse and it will create a more significant curvature. Now there is some treatment available for this.
You can get a injection called Xiaflex.
Injection by urology would dissolve the scar tissue. Or you can get an injection of platelet rich plasma PRP injected into the nodule to dissolve the nodule. There are less side effects with PRP compared to xiaflux if the curvature is significant or the nodule is big, you may have to require surgery to correct the curvature. And because of the scar tissue and the curvature, a lot of men with peyronie also have ED as well and it is associated with autoimmune disease. So most likely you need to get blood work tested to make sure that you don't have autoimmune disease such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis or other connective tissue disorder. But it's also associated with micro injury to the penis as well. So the bottom line is Peyronie's is associated with ed. If you find that you have a nodule in your penis, whether it hurt or doesn't hurt, get it evaluated right away because chances are it may get worse and it will contribute to your ED and will cause a significant curvature in the future. And sometime PEY does happen, but we do know that it usually happens in men that has low vitamin E and also low vitamin D as in dog. So if you do have Peyronie's I would recommend vitamin E 1000 units and vitamin D at least 5000 units and take vitamin D3 instead of D2. Now to find out more about peyronie and how you can treat it, go in the show notes and join the Modern Man Club where I I will coach you on peyronie and how to restore performance again. Or if you just want to find out how you can maintain performance until for a lifetime, well, I'll see you in there. Until the next episode.
