We're back after a few excuses, some festive excuses. How do you know if we're actually live, Brian? Can you actually see if it comes up?
I'm waiting for it to come on the streaming software so that I can then send it over. And here it comes, and there we go. So now I can go live.
Very good. Okay, we're cool, we're here.
Are we? So we're live now. Okay, so Karen, Karen, tell us, uh, you are this evening, you are the, the our fourth RPM member. We're delighted to have you here. You're the wrong sex, the hostess, unfortunately, uh, but you're the best sex, obviously. And, and so, so what have you hatched? What have you hatched?
Well, I've got— we've got 20 questions in total. The first round are 10 all about RPM this year, so anything that happened this year in RPM.
I thought this was just Christmas.
Yeah, it's not easy.
I must say, the wrong subject.
Yeah, I bet you were revising the road trip, weren't you? Or she's gonna have stats about the road trip. No, no, there's one on there about the road trip, but it's called RPM.
I can— yeah, I'm not sure I'm going to get that. I don't remember half that road trip, to be honest.
That's why I didn't do it.
I can't imagine why. Was it something to do with this, Conor?
Don't ask me anything about New Orleans. I remember coming in and seeing the road sign. And then I think I remember leaving. That was it. I had to put on my phone.
Karen, you got 20 questions. That's probably about 15 too many, but we'll do our best.
We can do it.
We can handle it.
Yeah, right, we're going for it. Are we just starting?
Yeah, we're going.
So anybody got any news?
Oh, shall I look at the comments to see whether anybody's actually joined us for our wonderful quiz? I'm going to tell you about something I'm going to experiment with on Dudley.
So Dudley is getting, uh, cataracts Cataracts for Christmas. And I think so anyway, he's got cloudy eyes now. That's some other disease that gives you cloudy eyes. I'm going to bring him down to the vet. He's got a couple of little lumps and bumps, but he's got these very cloudy eyes. And I'm thinking he's not a fan at nighttime, he startles easy, and I'm thinking that'd be a cataract thing, wouldn't it? Anyway, I'm going to get down to the vet, so I'm going to get it assessed and see how cataracty he is. But do you remember about half a year ago I was telling you about this product? I am not promoting this product, I'm just showing you how small product can be like, that's my finger, look how tiny the box is and the writing is impossible to see. But I saw a study for this and it's lanosterol, so which is like a, it's a fat that's in all cell membranes, it keeps your cell membrane soft and it's in your eyes, your eyes are full of it. And apparently if you put this on it dissolves cataracts and it's got chrysanthemum in it as well. So I think this sounds amazing. So I bought this little tool but I never used it on Dulce. I tried it once and he wasn't having any of it, he did not want me coming near him. So I just gave up as I tend to do. And so I have this product and then I was reading today a huge amount of studies on the use of NAC, you know, N-acetyl carnitine. Cysteine? Carnitine?
No, N-acetyl carnitine is the one for the eyes.
Yeah, for the eyes. So carnitine is like an amino acid you get in meat, and N-acetyl is our version of it, and you stick the acetyl group onto it for preserving it and get it out of a conical flask or whatever it does. I'm sure Brian can give us more on the biochemical side, but it's our version of carnitine anyway, and they use it in a few different things. But you should see the cataract studies. Oh my God. Like incredibly impressive in humans. And then I found an awesome one in dogs, 30 dogs, and all across the board improvements in the eyes with the earlier you catch the cataract, the better. And I was thinking, oh, this is interesting. So what I'm going to do, and hopefully have it done, you know, soon-ish, I've ordered it back and I've got this product. I'm going to do one eye in this and I'm going to do one eye in NAC, and then we're going to— I'm going to get it assessed in the vets, and then I'm going to get assessed in the vets after the trial because they say in 30 days, and then we can compare. I'm assuming the cataracts will be similar in the eyes, but what do you think of that for an idea?
Is Dudley going to wear it? Is he going to allow you to put those?
Not really, not really. Any tips? Any tips from the vets for putting things in eyeballs?
Because he does always come from behind. Keep your hand against his hair.
Just like, you know, always come from behind. Anyway, from that point of view, just, yeah, lift the Place the nose away from you, lift the eyelid back upwards, okay, and then come from over the top of the head and drop in from there. Never approach them from the nose.
Yeah, I was coming at him, I was coming, and then ended in a headlock, and I was like, nah, this isn't, this isn't working. Um, so yeah, okay, so you come over the top so you can't see it, pull it back, and then drop it on his eye.
Okay, yeah, always keep it—
come from behind or over the top if you can.
Keep it in your trouser pocket for half an hour before you put it in his eye so he doesn't get a drop of glacial liquid in his eye. Yeah, that might just warm him to it, literally.
Yeah, I'll give it a go. So that's my little experiment. So I was very impressed by those. I was thinking, Jesus, is there that simple a solution to cataracts? Surely we would have heard of it or been talking about it before. So would you be doubtful?
Yeah, but then my cynical side says that there's a lot of money in cataracts. So if there was a simple solution, yeah, then they would bury that.
You would not hear it.
Yeah.
So we've got—
interesting.
I came across a longevity company 18 months ago that was selling exactly that product and have tried it in a few individuals. They eulogized about it. But as Nick says, if there's a simple answer, there'd be a lot of cataract surgeons not in business.
Yeah, precisely.
Honestly, I think if you had a droppy version, you've got to— it's one of those products I think you're needing to effectively use it before they actually get the cataracts. Yeah, that's really be effective.
One of the major studies said it reviewed the others and it said, yeah, when we— it like the earlier the better. And I mean, the eyes did not look like they had cataracts in them, not like donkeys, you know. So it's like I'm wondering, they're truly cataracts?
Or is it nuclear sclerosis?
Oh, I don't know. What would the— I need to Google that.
And okay, so one's an age change. So you will see in bright light it looks bluish in color for the lens, but in direct beam, so if you shine a light into the eye, you still get a lot of refraction which is not impeded back from the retina. So half of the retina, at least for dogs, is reflective. And you'll see the color coming back at you without any shadows across it. And that usually means that they've gone elderly, the lens is refracting light slightly abnormally, and that's why you get the bluish and diffuse light. But it's just that they can't necessarily focus. They can no longer read the Sunday Times, as I jokingly say to people. Whereas with true cataracts, when you look into the eye, you'll see a shadow of the actual lens fault, whether the material is obstructing.
I needed that, I needed that.
So you do need a vet to look into the eyes, but they may turn around and say, no, there's no cataract, it's just, you know, age change, nuclear sclerosis.
And so does your lens just fill up with junk over the years? Is that—
yeah, but both ways there's oxidative change. Both ways your there is impedance of your ability to read the, you know, Sunday Times. So, and if you can whack in some, something that stabilizes membranes and is massively antioxidant, then that's surely going to be a beneficial thing, whether it's NAC or your magic finger potion.
Yeah, magic finger potion.
Yeah, we're now being told off. For impeding upon our quiz master's time.
Oh, oh, oh, is that—
I was just about to say, I take NAC, I take NAC every day.
You take NAC?
Oh, it's part of my protocol with Rowan, so it's part of my sleep stack, so I take it in the morning.
That's N-acetyl cysteine.
N-acetyl cysteine, yeah, so there's, yeah, two in there, so I take that.
Why is there two NACs and one is carnitine and one is cysteine?
Okay, yeah, it's all about what you want to penetrate where.
Just one more thing before we start, guys. You both seem to be going a little like the Eagles, a little bit, a little bit of a goatee. A little bit goatee-esque. Yeah, you're not.
I'm trying to desperately grow Santa beard.
Yeah, you've done it, you've done it, dude. You've achieved it. How big are you going to go, Bren?
What, big bush?
Yeah, that would be so good.
You've only got a few days till Christmas, so, um, you know, don't get your hopes up.
Yeah, I think it's, uh, it's crowd advice.
Look, I can also—
got a full-on Santa beard coming out now.
Yeah. Oh yeah, there you go. Holding up a very, very, very small— looks like a, like a reindeer's bone.
Fluffy. Okay, enough of this piffle. Let's get on with the quiz. Little lemming, Karen.
You're just putting it off because you know you're not going to know anything. That's exactly what you're doing. I know your tricks.
I love quizzes. I love being at them. I just don't like participating in them.
I think it's not very good at them is what you're trying to say.
You don't like losing. Is that what it is?
No, I don't really mind. Yeah, I didn't. Yeah, I would never have liked that in sports. How'd you know that about me? I didn't like losing in sports.
Uh, but however do we know that about Conor Brady?
I can take it. I can take a table quiz loss.
You can take a beating.
I'm not just gonna flip the table and storm out, but, uh, no, that'd be really funny. I've accepted my general knowledge stats. There's something wrong with my ability to retain general knowledge. I just, I don't have any general knowledge, which is worrying. Uh, but I'm, I'd like to tell it's because I'm, I'm filling my head full of very important facts. Uh, they just, nobody seems to ask me.
I used to hate You know, we used to have an A-level called General Studies.
Oh, we did.
You do all of your other A-levels, but then they forced you to sit effectively a general knowledge quiz.
Oh no.
At the same time as you were trying to revise everything else.
No. Oh, that'd be awful.
A-level.
I got a C in General Studies.
Oh, there you go. I think, I mean, well done you. C's not bad. Yeah, very good. All right, Karen, let's, let's, let's have the first round.
Okay, so let's, let's go to the quiz. Enough of this.
First 10 questions.
We've got to drink at least a finger for each wrong answer.
Oh, that would have been good.
We should have done that. Wrong answer.
Yeah, you're on the ale, which is what, 5.5%? So we're on the, on the, well, I'm on the vino.
That's 6.5, that is.
6.5.
Yeah, I can't do too many.
No, 6 is— you're 6 and I'm about 13.5.
Yeah, yeah, we're going to be cursing in like 10 minutes.
That's just pure gin, so.
Pure gin of York.
13. Nice. Doing a little county.
Like Brendan's measures in Helsinki, that is.
Let's not talk about that.
Still bad memories.
Your liver.
Bad memories.
Yeah, yeah.
Right, anyway, come on then, let's go. Oh, right. Question 1.
Oh, am I putting up titles?
Do I need to write something down?
No, no, I would get a pen and paper.
Yeah, yeah, it's a quiz.
You'll mark it at the end.
Are you all ready out there? I hope you've got a pen and paper.
I'm gonna use it.
Just remember, don't help them out, people. Do not put it in the comments. Don't help them out.
They can't see the comments. You can put it in there.
Oh, fine.
Do what you like.
Conor has volunteered to give prizes to anybody who can beat us 3.
It's amazing that—
random shit. Yeah, half-eaten supplements and stuff.
Very generous indeed.
Right, okay, question 1.
Being judgmental and saying, drink water, children.
Yeah, I will.
Right, question 1: how many, how many guest shows have there been this year?
I can't believe the pain you've been through.
It could be anywhere between 4 and 30. I would agree with that. That's an answer.
That's not going to be it, right?
Okay, we're going to do the 1 point if you're within 5, 2 points if you were within 2, and Brendan's making up the rules as he goes along.
This is what it sounds like, guys.
If it's not spot on, there's no points. That's it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right, number 2: who was the first guest of the year? Oh, Nikki, you're gonna do that for every question. I love it. Oh no, I love it.
Please do. I remember looking at it recently going, oh, there are the guests then.
Yeah, don't you remember who was the first guest this year?
Who invited them, Karen?
Oh, I have no idea.
Oh, okay.
Uh, who was this?
There's no clues here.
There's no clue. Okay, okay, so we, we've just got to guess, right?
Yeah, right. Number 3: on the Valentine's episode that Conor did on his own, what was his rationale for why foods were—
ironic.
So why did Conor think that foods were an aphrodisiac? What did he say that he thought the reason was?
I don't know.
Listen to that because he's the one that spoke on it and me and Nick just went, why are we gonna listen?
The most hilarious thing I've ever watched.
Oh no, because I think I know what the answer is.
Just say that again. Just say that again.
Right, so on the Valentine's Day episode that Conor did on his own, what was his rationale for why foods were an aphrodisiac? Okay, why did he think foods were an aphrodisiac? The answer is quite hilarious, I have to say.
And that's a single, that's a single answer. Yeah, it's a thing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The reason why he thought they were an aphrodisiac. Okay, hilarious.
All right, I'm with you.
Number 4, on the episode with Lee Carroll all about mushrooms, How much ergothioneine did he say humans should have daily?
Oh, what a great question.
Oh, like, I've just had a whole plate, an entire punnet of mushrooms, and I thought of Lee as I had them. Interesting, I have to say.
Interesting.
But did you think about how much ergothioneine you were consuming?
No, I didn't think of how much ergothioneine. Okay, so milligrams or grams or where do you want to go? Milligrams.
Okay, good, good. I'll just really scribble that out.
It's not going to help. Yeah, that's probably right. Number 5.
Per day? Per day?
Per day?
Humans.
Oh, go per day. Per day. Okay. All right.
Okay. Number 5. What cooling remedy did Rita Hogan say is good for back pain? I don't know if the cooling remedy helps at all.
I know the answer to that.
Cooling remedy?
Really? We'll see.
Remedy or herb or remedy?
It's cooling remedy.
It's throwing me off because my answer has got nothing to do with that, but I just think that your question is wrong.
Would you know what was a cooling remedy and what wasn't?
Not a clue.
Not a clue.
Right, number 6. What did Billy Hoke say happened to the milk that he poured a crapshoot into after 6 hours? Oh wow, Brendan looks so confused.
Say that again.
Which Billy?
Billy Hoke. Yeah, so when he was on talking about fermentation, he was talking about when he poured a crapshoot into milk, he left it for 6 hours. What happened when he came back to it? What happened to the milk?
Crab chill.
I was like, a crab chill?
Oh, I'm sorry.
What?
You put a crab stick in milk. What happened to it? He didn't put a crab stick in there. No, that would have been— I mean, that probably would have been worse than the crab chill, to be honest. A crab stick.
Probably smelled better than the result that he actually got.
Not sure. Crab stick and milk. Oh, not sure about that after 6 hours. Right, number 7. On the Dogris 2024 review video, which wrong actor did Nick say played the original Willy Wonka? He said the wrong actor. Now what was his name?
How many of these shows did you watch? It sounds like a year.
Too many.
You really went into depth here.
Who do you think It's all right, you're all paying me double, so that's fine.
No, Conor, don't spit out that bit.
5 minutes.
Okay, so Willy Wonka, wrong actor. Okay, so we know who the right actor. Yeah, so, so old guy and the new guy, and I think there's a— there's an ultra new version.
I'm talking about the original one.
Procrastinating.
Yeah, no, he's right.
In fairness, the original Willy Wonka. You were talking about the original film and you said somebody totally different.
Okay, right.
Number 8: on the 2024 New Year episode, what did Brendan say would be the top 2 tests to do to start investing in your health?
2028?
2024. I would have to have a time machine.
Okay, okay.
On the January, on your first one, will Brendan say are the best Yeah, so on the New Year What? show that you did, what did Brendan say would be the top 2 tests to do to start investing in your own health?
Oh, okay. So, Bren, that's a gift for you, my friend.
Can you actually remember though, Bren?
Top 2 tests, uh, and, um, uh Can we have half each for, for a correct answer? Well, you know, Karen is so stern.
My goodness, there's no guesswork here. It's got to be both and it's got to be right. Come on. Okay, right, number 9. In last week's episode with Penny, she discussed kidney disease being an issue with captive cheetahs. What was missing from their diet that was found to be the main cause?
Real life out on the Serengeti. What was that?
I wasn't there, boys.
I hear you didn't notice I wasn't there until the bit on the side.
I didn't know you were there.
You weren't distracted by the lovely Penny? Not at all. I was lost.
Would you like to repeat the question?
Oh, what, number 9? Yeah. So in last week's episode with Penny, she discussed kidney disease being an issue with captive cheetahs. What was missing from their diet that was found to be the main cause? Come on, Connor, it was only last week.
I know, but I just— I don't—
but the question is, what do they feed captive cheetahs? Therefore, what do they feed, just out of interest?
Come on, these two better remember.
Come on.
I mean, I'm writing what my answer would be.
What do they think?
Yes, Michelle, you're right. This was just last week.
Okay. No, that's not the answer.
We can come back to Eddie if you want to go back over.
Completely agree.
Right, number 10, last one in this round. Which RPM superfan did the three of you meet in Williamsburg in October? No, which, which RPM superfan did the three of you meet in Williamsburg?
Oh, what a legend she was. She still is, I assume.
And she had a cry.
She did.
And yeah, and we all had a hug.
I don't remember the hug either.
Yeah, you blocked it out. You don't do hugs.
I can tell you where she was sitting in the crowd as well.
What, down to the left?
Down to the left, towards the front row, first or second row. Yeah, yeah, that's a good memory. The left.
Um, what is the kidney disease one?
Mr. Red, what do you want to do regarding answers? Do you want the answer? Do you want the answers now to this round? Yeah, all at the end.
Okay, I know, let's go, let's go as we go. Williamsburg.
Do you want me to read out any more, Brendan? Does anyone in the comments want any others read out?
Or any readouts? Anybody? I think we're all good.
Wow, Karen, you are a quiz master extraordinaire. You should give up working for what's-his-face and go into this full time. You're very good.
I think if this quiz was about somebody else's podcast, I'd get a higher score than my own podcast. I mean, my God.
Especially you can't remember last week.
This is a car crash. This is a car— I'm having a very relaxed December, by the way, guys. Nothing is going in. So any questions after in December, it's not fair. Uh, okay, let's, let's just get through this. Let's just get this.
What do you want answers to this then?
Yeah, yeah, let's do the answer.
The first one, how many guests?
Definitely 14.
Nick. Okay, last. If you're not including me, then it's 12.
Oh, include you. I think we should— I think we should include both your appearances, so that's 14. Thank you very much. This is an appearance, so that's 13.
I know where you're going with that, and it's no.
Okay, well, 13. Anytime class is a guess.
33 and a third. So I got 4— I wrote 14, Bren wrote 16, so I'm more right than Bren. So, so far so good.
And then so you might get it, Karen.
What?
This is literally one of my only things I was going to get. I'm giving myself a point for that. Nearly, nearly right. Nearly right will do.
Whatever you have at the end, we're just gonna be like, no, Conor definitely didn't win. Okay, who was the first guest of the year?
Oh, I, I know when you say it, it'll kill me because I looked at it recently.
I'm thinking Penny. No, no, no, no, it was Dr.
Josie Beug.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, it was.
I think she was the first one. I think I did that one last year. Last year's quiz.
Oh my God, are we in 2024?
Oh yeah, yeah, sorry, that was '23, mate. Right, let's have a look. So on the Valentine's Day episode that Conor did on his own, what was his rationale for why foods were an aphrodisiac? Come on, Conor, you must remember what you actually said.
I think it is, and I'm— I bet you this answer is still ridiculously wrong, but because of the shape, because the shape of the thing.
Yes, you said, you said because certain foods look like body parts, and I quote, an asparagus kind of looks like a willy.
Yeah, so it wasn't even anything nutritional. It wasn't like the nutrition gave increased fertility.
Yeah, anything like that.
And looking at all the childish shapes, because of the shape, an oyster look like Oh, next question, moving on.
Because of the shape, Bren, I can't believe we're sharing a show with a guy who thinks they're aphrodisiac because they're willy-shaped.
Can you— there's a bloke that thinks asparagus looks like a willy.
Well, he's very lucky if that's the case.
Yeah, no, if I get served asparagus in a funny kind of—
I know what time Oh dear.
Anyway, so does anyone know the answer for the ergothionine?
200 milligrams?
100 milligrams?
Definitely 200.
10 milligrams?
Yes, Brendan, 10 milligrams. 100 milligrams of ergo? I'd have to take the whole bottle, I think.
Is that per kilo, per 10 kilos of human?
Are you sure? Per human.
I thought you meant, I thought you meant pretend humans.
10 humans. That's right, 100.
10 humans.
After the fact.
It's a well-known measure of weight, the human.
The human.
It's not a lot really.
No. So what cooling remedy did Rita Hogan say is good for back pain?
Pine needle.
Oh, it's mountain pine. So yeah, oh, look at you!
Yes, this is good.
You're right, I can't actually remember what the other one was, but there was also a burning herb that's good for pain.
So pine bark, number 5.
Karen, pine bark.
I'll give you a break, I'm taking that.
I said pine, so yeah, the word pine is in there. Let's just, you know, he's not going to get any others right.
Thank you.
Let him have 2, just, it's all he's going to get. Right, so Billy Hoakman, what happened to not the crab stick but the crapshell that he put into the milk after 6 hours?
It exploded.
Oh, can you imagine that if it did?
Oh, it didn't.
No, no. Does anyone know?
Congealed, coagulated, clotted.
Oh, very solidified to cheese. Poo cheese.
There you go, there you go. I'm taking that.
Yeah, I, I will let Nicholas have that one. That is definitely—
yeah.
Didn't think so.
I like the fact that he just put all of those things down.
All the C words. Yeah.
So, so what actor— what wrong actor did Nick say played the original Willy Wonka in the Helsinki review?
Gene Hackman. He said it.
Oh, Gene Hackman! He did say that.
Oh no, remember me screaming at the screen, like texting each other after going, oh my God, it's not Gene!
Just who is Gene Hackman and who is French Connection guy?
You even said French Connection guy, Nick. You went Gene Hackman.
Gene Wilder is, uh, you know, yeah, with like the big eyes. He was in that, yeah.
And Gene Hackman.
Oh my God, French Connection.
French Connection, correct. Yeah, we said that. Yeah, have you had a head injury? We just been talking about her for the last 2 minutes.
Okay.
He's like the little grandpa in the corner at the Christmas. She's got a mince pie and a bit of rum.
She's all right.
Okay.
So right, come on then. See if Brendan remembers what was the top 2 tests to start investing in your health that Brendan recommended.
Easy peasy.
Go on then.
Dirty jeans. And some form of wee test, like Dutch.
There was a Dutch test, and then—
yeah, it wasn't a test. What are the tests?
Nobody knows.
The omega-3.
Yeah, you recommended the cellular health test, so looking at your omega-3 levels and vitamin D were the top two. So omega-3, cellular health, and vitamin D.
I think it's all related to the top tests. I think genes in urine, which I've written here, will be up there in the top one.
No, I agree with you. I agree with Conor, so I think I've changed my mind.
Yes, Brent, you're lying to us.
Yeah, I've written MTHFR. I won't announce— oh no, that was definitely a lie— what that might mean. And methylation tests.
Yeah, there you go. See, we all agreed. What was Brent smoking when he was talking about vitamins and all that other coffee cups?
This is all of that catholization.
Yeah, you know what it was? They were the most expensive ones. I was like, yeah, get those from here.
Okay, 40 quid.
Yeah, right. So what was the main cause? What was missing from the cheetah's diet in captivity? Oh, that was what they found to be the main cause of kidney disease.
Was it like collagen and fiber?
Collagen, Bren. Yes, collagen.
Oh my God, collagen! But like, how could they not get enough collagen if they weren't getting a load of meat?
You know, but that's what she was saying. They weren't getting—
they weren't getting enough—
they weren't getting the connective tissue. They were just getting chunks.
Brilliant. Did you see my Dr. Dre? Dr. Dre for number 7. I couldn't think of anything else to write. Yeah, uh, number 10 is easy peasy if you get this.
I'll win this with 3 marks.
Oh, come on then. Who was the RPM superfan Who you met in Willisburg?
Mrs. M-C-S-C-H. Yeah, yeah, it's what she calls.
Well done.
Yeah, it's just—
all right, did you say you were going to give me the point for 14 instead of 13 because that was very close? No, dude, you're definitely sure you don't want to give me that?
I'm definitely sure.
I think you're being very hard on me.
All right, well, that's nothing new then, is it?
And greetings to Martina from all of us this evening. Yeah, uh, greetings. It's festive time, and, and big hugs to you from us, and we look forward to seeing you again in the States one of these fine days.
Um, yeah, me too. I want to meet Martina now.
Yeah, she's great.
Do you want to, do you want to announce your scores, or what are we doing here?
No, come on, swiftly on.
Yeah, yeah, I agree. Uh, did anybody get to the halfway mark? Did anybody get 5? Good, good, good. Did you get 5?
I got 4 and a half.
I got 4 and a half.
Where'd the half come from?
Because you weren't allowed Dutch and I've just put the cellular health test.
Yeah, sorry, Brad.
Oh, you're being rigorous.
Yeah, no, we're not doing half points because I said 14 instead of 13. That should be a half point.
So if we're going to play by the rules, should it be a half when it was wrong?
So Bren and me got 4. Nick, what did you get?
2, my friend. 2.
Oh my God, you should be embarrassed about that.
I think Karen's winning.
Eating pro here and Crowing. I'm ashamed, but, um, worse things happen at sea.
It was hard.
I hope the next round isn't about dogs.
Yeah, it is all things dog.
We're gonna have words. This is the dog.
Right, next year, Nick, it'll be your year. It'll be your year. This might be— this might be your—
I think I usually win this, the, these quizzes, actually, by the way. You do. You do like not to win. Yeah, right.
Okay, so all things dog, there's 5 questions in this one. So number 1 in all things dog, which breed is known for its unique double dewclaws on the hind legs, a trait often used to differentiate it for it from other breeds?
Oh, I know that one.
So which breed is known for its unique double dewclaws on the hind legs?
The only reason I know this is because we crossbred them in guide dogs, and when the pups came out, we're like, what's the story with their hind legs?
I don't know if you've got the right dogs, Conor, because—
yeah, no, we did. We— for a reason, I'll tell you. It'll make sense when we—
yeah.
Oh, okay.
I was gonna say, I don't certainly don't remember them at my dogs.
Yeah, no, no, we just— we tried it out and we're like, uh, this doesn't work. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay.
Interesting. Right, number 2. What is the term for the condition in which a dog has 2 different colored eyes? And what genetic factor often causes it? Connie, you look like you're about to cry.
Bloody hell.
Did everyone get that in the comments, Bren? Because it was a bit of a long one.
Uh, no. Could you just read it out again for them? I think just to—
What is the term for the condition in which a dog has two different colored eyes, and what genetic factor often causes it?
In the back of my mind, this has been said to me.
It has many things that have been said to you.
I've met her, I've met numerous stars.
Genetic condition Bowieism.
Oh yeah, he got a punch, in fairness.
I think he didn't— he actually— with Bowie, I think he got an injury when he was young.
He got a punch when he was 8 years old.
There you go.
I just thought it was this condition. I didn't realize.
No, and the mate was in his band all the way into Conchords, or, uh, the Conrads was the first band he was in, and he was the main Brian Conrad's, and Bowie wasn't. And then after a while, after playing weddings and stuff, Bowie said, 'I'm going off on my own.' But they say best friends for life. Yeah, but he, he knocked—
it made him pretty cool though, didn't it, to be fair?
Yeah. Oh yeah, cool.
Um, right, number 3. I think you'll all know this, which probably is going to be really bad if you don't know. I said that. Which gene mutation commonly found in herding breeds like the Australian Shepherd makes dogs sensitive to certain medications? So which gene mutation commonly found in herding breeds makes dogs sensitive to certain medications?
I don't know.
Oh, I thought you'd know that.
Oh, you see, ivermectin. Oh my God, it's the ivermectin gene. I can't remember the name of it.
Oh no, Nick, come on.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it's the ivermectin.
I've never even heard this, to be honest with you.
I really thought you'd all know that one. I thought that's gonna— they're just gonna know that straight away.
No, it's not even ringing a bell for me at the moment. It's not even— no, I can't even pretend to pretend.
Yeah, yeah, I don't even know what to say.
I hope out there you're scoring yourselves and you're putting these guys to shame.
Yeah, shit.
Definitely, they will be.
Yeah, yeah, these are just— our following are pure dog nerds. There's no, there's no there's no— what you call this— there's no fluff, it's just solid dog nerdage. What's the word I'm trying to think of?
Solid nerdage.
Yeah, it is.
Right, number 4. What type of bone can a dog never bury? Whoa, getting a bit smart here now.
Well, their skull.
Yeah, I would actually love to see a dog I can name a few bones.
They're off.
Right, number 5.
This is the last one.
Bone never bury.
Yeah, I don't know what that is.
What type of bone can a dog never bury?
Is that kind of cryptic? Is this a straight scientific question?
It might be, yeah. It's not scientific, no. I may have gone into more I mean, this is cryptic.
Oh my God, if you give a dog enough time, he can bury anybody.
It might not be like that though. It might be like a little riddly thing.
Riddle me this.
Riddle me this.
Riddle me this.
Riddle me this. Which, which—
I need a jingle on my hat. Riddle me this.
Those ears are quite enough. It's fine. Right, number 5. What do you call a dog magician? We've all gone really quiet. I think that's the quietest you've ever been.
Let's all enjoy it, everyone.
It is quite pleasant. Um, dog magician.
What do you call a dog magician? Enjoy the peace, everyone.
What do you call a dog magician?
I trust Connor to break the silence.
Is he, is he a good magician or a bad magician?
I don't know.
I've got different words for both. Oh, they're just, uh, they are very good questions. Yeah, not very nice questions, but no, I just can't, I can't, I'm not flexible with my, my mental agility at the moment. It's just not happening.
At the moment.
What bone can't you bury?
I mean, what do you call a magician who's lost his magic?
Ian.
Ian.
Hey, that's right. I'm on Connor.
That's my cracker.
Oh yeah, I'm there, I'm there. That's funny. Don't have to explain it, but that's funny. I like jokes. I can't remember what question 5 was. What was it? I didn't even write a quiz for myself. What is this question 5?
What do you call a dog magician?
Oh yeah, dog magician.
It doesn't matter if he's bad or good, what do you call him? Um, I thought you guys would be all over that. Brendan's like losing the will to live. Right, you ready for answers, or does anyone want—
I have been absolutely.
For all the guys, just in case they haven't got them.
Yeah, what do you want, the all of them again?
Yep, just very quickly.
I'm gonna grab a cat.
Number, number 1: which breed is known for its unique double dewclaws on the hind legs? Number 2: what is the term for the condition in which a dog has 2 different colored eyes, and what genetic factor often causes it? Number 3, which gene mutation commonly found in herding breeds makes dogs sensitive to certain medications? And number 4, what type of bone can a dog never bury? And number 5, what do you call a dog magician? I looked up and Connor disappeared. He was there when I looked. Does he just like gone up in a puff of smoke?
Santa asked me, did you notice it's the Christmas version and he's got his He's got his room round the right way. Yeah. There's no mirroring. Do you notice? No.
Because we told him.
Oh, I see. You told him.
Because his RPM was the wrong way. So he said.
So his RPM was the wrong way. And Santa's little elf was totally wrong.
It was like Flea Lil's Astus or so wherever it was.
Have we done the answers yet?
No, we waited for you because we know you're gonna get them right.
Cool, here we go.
Number 1: which breed is known for the unique double dewclaws on the hind legs?
Same, that's a Bernese Mountain Dog.
Icelandic Sheepdog.
Bernese Mountain Dog.
Are they not also on Pyrenees? Pyrenees.
The answer is the Great Pyrenees.
What about the Briard?
Hang on there now, the Bernese Mountain Dogs have them as well. Extra Duke?
Uh, what about Beauceron? They also have them.
I didn't say Great Pyrenean Mountain Dog, I just went Pyrenean.
Yeah, Pyrenean.
I think, to be fair, there are, there are more than just that one.
I think, guys, there are 4. There are 4 breeds, well-known: Pyrenean, the Briard, the Beauceron, and the Icelandic Sheepdog.
Why is not there? That is not fair because I just Googled Pyrenees Mountain Dog extra tall.
Winja, isn't he?
This is a fiasco. This is an unmitigated fiasco.
That's why I was confused, Conor, when you said about you bred them, because I was like, I don't know how much you can breed a Pyrenees.
They use Pyrenees mountain dogs in Irish guide dogs.
Well, they're pretty close to the Pyrenees.
They cross them with Labradors and they made these absolute tanks. And these dogs, you couldn't keep them out of the kitchen.
They used to walk blind people into lamp posts.
Yeah, just, no, just walk me to the bakeries and supermarkets and they're just starving all the time. They're just huge. We needed them. We had some big clients and we thought maybe we'll make these anchors of dogs because you need a big heavyset dog. But didn't work out. The dog was just too hungry all the time. But Bernese Mountain Dogs, I insist on getting a point for that because I badly need that to be a point.
You can have the point, Conor Brady.
Thank you. Thank you.
I don't want you to cry.
Whoa, how much did you pay this lady?
Very, very little.
All right, it's going on the invoice.
Don't worry.
I'm on point given. Fourth thing, £100.
Here comes, uh, 4 wrong answers from Conor. Go, number 2.
Yeah, I was going to say, right, okay. So what is the term for the condition which— in which a dog has 2 different colored eyes, and what genetic factor often causes it? Brendan, come on.
So it's merle, is it not? Merle eyes. And it's not genetic dimorphism.
Well, the gene, the Gene is caused by the Merle gene, but the condition is called heterochromia.
Oh, it is called heterochromia.
I was so close.
Anisochoria?
No, anisochoria is basically different pupil size.
Yeah. Oh, I wrote, I wrote bichromatosis. It's close enough. I knew chroma was in there.
He's now just making up words.
I had a word.
I made a word.
I had a word. I made a word up. Jeez. I actually want to Google that to see if it is a thing. Quickly Google it, see if it does exist.
So what was the— what's it called?
So the condition's called heterochromia, and it's often caused by a lack of pigment in one eye due to the Merle gene. So the Merle side of it Brendan had. Um, but the condition— not the condition. Oh, never mind. Right, okay. Which gene mutation— number 3— which gene mutation commonly found in herding breeds makes dogs sensitive to certain medications? Brendan?
It's MDR1.
Yeah, she did know.
Conor cheated because he looked at the comments and somebody put it on there, and I saw him smile. Yeah, you didn't know, have a clue.
Conor, do you know what it stands for?
Um, motorbike drives randomly.
That is exactly it. Well done. Multi-drug resistance mutation.
Oh yeah, that makes sense. I've actually— I've already given myself 4 X's, so, um, even if I was to cheat, I've already marked them with X's. This is not good.
Okay. Number 4: What type of bone can a dog never bury?
Oh, the ones in the ear. Yeah, like the little tiny ones.
It's not that scientific, or it's not— it's a, it's a riddle, funny one.
Attention! A bone, a bone of contention.
Desperate. That is a desperate, horrible question, Karen. Yeah, bone of contention.
I will challenge you that the dog would not bury the ear bone.
Yeah, he just put his skull. Yeah, Barry, his own skull.
Good. Okay, right.
What do you call a dog magician?
Merlin.
Come on.
I just went with Ian because Graham said it already.
You still don't get that joke, do you?
It's a funny name.
We'll explain it to you after. It's fine. No, no, anyone in the comments, Bryn, having a guess?
Uh, come on, anybody in the comment want to— Merlin?
No, it's much better than that.
Yeah, somebody must have an answer to this.
No, I can't think of any other magicians. Is there other magicians, you know, Houdini?
See if anyone puts it in the comments.
Who's the greatest magician of them all?
It just looks like, who are, who are the top magicians?
You've lost everybody, you've stumped everybody, Karen.
Oh, okay. I just thought everyone will be all over this. If anyone watched James Oliver's Christmas thing last night, he actually said it. So a dog magician is called a labracadabrador. Come on!
Oh my God, that's brilliant!
I don't even care.
Somebody press the ejector seat right now.
I have to admit that that wasn't actually me, that was ChatGPT. I was like, ChatGPT is amazing. Lovely.
Oh, well, on the plus side, everyone gets it wrong, which makes me happy.
So you know what, I'm just gonna have to have another drink.
I think you should.
Yeah, I think it's the only—
I just scored 1 out of 5, a new low for Conor.
That was only because I let you have that and it's not—
that's true, yeah, thanks for letting me win. You're the goalie that just threw it out of the way.
Yeah, right, but not the—
oh yeah, what did you all get? So, Brent, you got 1-ish. Conor?
I got 1.
Brendan?
I got, I got 2 claws and I got collie gene.
Damn, damn, damn, damn.
So you and Bryn got 2 then, did you?
Yeah, yeah, 2 and a half.
No halves, no halves, no halves, no halves.
There's no halves. Or halves, as we'd say in Essex.
Yeah, no halves.
Well, other half getting you another drink.
Here we go, what's the third round here?
I'll ring the little bell, Steve will arrive with a gin in a minute. That's all right.
Lovely.
Right, the last round is all things Christmas. Oh, obviously.
Okay, good. I feel confident.
Number 1: In the 12 Days of Christmas, what gift is given on the 7th day? Now you're all singing it in your head, aren't you?
No, because I don't know the words.
You don't know any?
I know 2 turtle doves, if it helps. Do 2 next.
No, such a good question.
Everyone knows 2.
7.
Uh, oh, come on, surely.
Okay, I truly cannot cope with the ears on that hat anymore.
Okay, I'm going to—
I'm there.
Okay, okay, right, we done? Yeah, we ready? Right, number 2. Which exotic spice often used in Christmas desserts was once so valuable it was referred to as black gold and traded as currency? Which exotic spice used at Christmas was once so valuable it was referred to as black gold and traded as currency?
There were, there were, there were a number, Karen, if that's your real name.
The King's Was it one of the three kings that brought that black gold?
I'm not saying anything. There's no clues here.
Oh yeah, they— oh, that's a good one.
So tough.
Yeah, so tough.
I've never seen it like this. Yeah. Oh my goodness me.
So what's a black spice? I don't really know what spice.
Black spice. It's called black gold. Yeah.
No, you said it was a spice though.
Yeah, I didn't say it was going to be black.
If it's black gold, it's, it's, it's implying that it's a spice that's black in color.
That's okay, you keep thinking that.
Yeah, there's no black spices. Oh, oh, oh, that is the right answer.
That's okay, right? Okay, next one's a little bit of a riddle. I'm a number but also a song. I count up, but I don't last long. I'm full of gifts, joy, and cheer. What am I tied to this time of year?
Say again.
I'm a number, but also a song. I count up, but I don't last long. I'm full of gifts, joy, and cheer. What am I tied to this time of year? Did anyone used to watch Little Britain with the Scottish guy in the hotel? He used to do riddles like that. He'd say the answer and then go, what am I? Every time I do it, I want to laugh.
Can we have it again?
Yeah, I need it again.
Oh, how good is that? Steve must be watching the thing because he's just bought me another.
She's doing very well.
Considering I kicked him out of his office to do this.
Would you read— would you read that, uh, again please? Because I don't want that again.
Are you trying to act like you're working that out?
Something about counting and then—
I am a number but also a song. I count up but I don't last long. I'm full of gifts, joy, and cheer. What am I tied to this time of year? I love this silence.
I'm just gonna enjoy it.
Oh wow.
But I'm a number. It's the number thing that's got me.
I'm a number but also a song.
I think each one of those lines has me, to be honest. Um, just— I've just— I've got a monkey clashing cymbals in my head just going around. It's the ears.
To be fair, it could be one of those monkeys with those ears.
Come on, Conor, think of something.
I'm ready to just do that while you think.
I just start thinking of songs and it's like, who did that song?
Have you got a Duracell battery?
How many batteries do I have downstairs, actually?
I think I've got over 10.
Is that a quiz question? We've got to guess how many batteries are in your house.
Someone tested me for ADHD, I bet you I have it. I was looking at something, somebody was saying like 10 things you know you're ADHD. Like, it was supposed to be a funny thing on Instagram. I was like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, like, I've got all of them. So send me off to do something.
I'll do something else. Do you know what? Actually, somebody's realized ADHD is a human condition. Actually, just about all humans.
Yeah, yeah, definitely.
I think, I think some people are more, some people are less. Yeah, some people artistic ability. Yeah, some people can draw, some people can't. But even the people who can't draw can do a stickman. Yeah, you know, and some people can expect— my daughter, for example, she can draw amazing pictures even though, yeah, I'm, I'm 50-odd and she's 10 and she can outdraw me, you know. So some people have that ability and I think it's exactly the same.
Is she watching Ellie draw all the time, Nick? Yeah, because Ellie's a phenomenal—
but so am I, so am I. I watch her draw. Ellie's amazing with a pen.
Yeah, even when we're standing in New Orleans and she took out her— your hand and she said, here, get your hand, and she drew something on the back of your hand. Maybe she just doodles while we were waiting for the taxi and she drew that phenomenal RPM sign on the back of your hand. I was like, oh my God, that is so cool! That's like a great looking tattoo. Yeah, yeah.
Oh, was that Ellie who drew that? I remember seeing that.
Yeah.
Oh my God, thank God she didn't get us into a tattoo parlor in New Orleans.
Oh God, yeah, I would have gone for whatever.
I would have.
Yeah, that would have been so funny.
Yeah.
Santa's little elf on his head, that hat across his head.
Yeah.
Okay, number 4.
Right, number 4. What were the estimated average grocery sales in Ireland in December 2023? Now this could be like you get the closest. I just thought this was quite fun.
Gross.
What's the estimated average grocery sales in Ireland in December 2023?
For humans.
I'll be nice as well, you haven't got to get it exact.
Humans?
Humans. So humans.
Within the closest million.
Are we talking weight? Are we talking units?
So how much people spent, so the sales.
Oh, sales.
How much people spent on Christmas food.
Remember, it's euros, so half the value of—
okay, we're euros, yeah.
Okay, actually, how much did people spend on Christmas on groceries, so not Christmas presents, but just in Ireland.
Okay, in Ireland, in Texas.
4 million Irish.
Yeah, 5 million.
About, about 6 shillings and a couple of free potatoes. And they wanted a free hat at the same time.
Irish population, 5.3 million, so we're on the same page.
Okay, that's gonna really help.
Thanks, Justice.
I'll give you time to have a little think.
That's really helpful.
Groceries, not presents.
Yeah, grocery sales in that one month.
Does that include alcohol?
Oh, it didn't say. I didn't say.
Because that makes a massive difference in Ireland.
That's like a 2x.
And we also, we buy it all up in the north as well. We go across the border to save on the tax, so therefore it's going to the British coffers So is that included?
Let's not get technical.
Yes, so, so was the expenditure purely in Southern Ireland or was it in the total Ireland?
I just asked Ireland, so Republic of Ireland in December '23, average grocery sales in one month. I just thought it's quite interesting to do when we deal with food and stuff.
My figure is way too high, but I can't see it being anything less. It's like, who doesn't spend I'm taking it. Okay, talking to myself.
Okay, well, last one.
You've also got to take on board, although 5.5 million might be the population of Ireland, there is about 5.5 million Irish return to family in Ireland.
Indeed.
For Christmas.
Indeed.
Yeah. Yes. So yeah.
Do you know what? You just made me think about the fact of that 5.3 million, a lot of them don't have credit cards. They're very small, very small people don't buy shopping Do you know what I mean? Are you working it out?
Very small people buy—
No, no, I'll explain my thinking in a second. Don't worry.
Maybe we should do an economics show as well as a nutrition show.
Economics show?
Yeah. Socioeconomics.
I saw, I heard an interesting little thing, right? Um, someone was saying that, um, oh, this isn't that interesting because I've had a couple of drinks, but this would work if it was just the lads sitting around the table. Yeah, it's just that people are probably listening, this is really weird, why has he gone off on this angle? Um, now I've built it up too much, I'll just say it anyway. Um, they were saying that there were— if you're the government and you want to pretend that everyone's still getting on as well as they did 5 years ago, then you look at their standard of living and say, look, you know, they're still— they still have meat and they buy what they want in the groceries. But it turns out that when you start running out of cash, you buy less steak and you buy more chicken. So you can actually monitor the cheaper meats being bought. And so it looks like you've got the same standard of living, but actually you're just not choosing striploin steak because you don't have £7 for 2 striploin steaks. So you buy chicken, so the chicken sales go up. Yeah, so the cheapest protein sales, the cheapest proteins go up as you approach a crash. And I just thought, wasn't that an interesting way of looking at it? So people cheap, it still feels like you're getting the same bang for your buck in your trolley, but you're just picking all the cheaper items.
And then you go for liver, and then you go for testicles, and then you go for intestine.
Yeah, is that like you go to the supermarket? At what stage though financially do you just go, I'm gonna buy testicles?
You know, that's what you do when you're, when you're starving. When you're starving, if it's, if it's just potato broth. Yeah, 2 years. Or you will go with that every day.
Yeah, you probably would, I suppose. Better than no meat. Yeah, yeah, I promise you. Yeah, interesting.
Or hooves. They eat hooves in Indonesia even when they're not starving. There's a dish where you have a hoof and you cook it for, you know, like buggery for a very long time until it's soft. Soft, and then they just suck on this soft, chewy, rubbery— I kid you not, I kid you not.
It's a lovely sausage. Pizzle, yes, like chewing on a pizzle. I mean, pig's trotters are popular. We consider that kind of normal, and that's just as weird and gross.
This is where you're glad you're in a vegan household.
Yeah, pretty gross. You don't want to see a foot hanging out.
Yeah, but you get plenty of collagen within that. Yeah, you know, you're not going to get kidney disease if you're—
give it to them cheaters. Yeah, yeah, eaters need that.
Trotters the whole time.
Wow. Right, do you want the last question?
We've got 2 minutes, 1 minute.
I was gonna say, right, right, this is a good one, right? I quite like this one. How much in royalties has Mariah Carey's song All I Want for Christmas generated from its release in 1994 to today?
Just so much, so much. Oh, it's impossible to know.
In, in euros, pounds, or dollars?
Dollars.
Oh, you see, it makes a difference.
Oh, uh, I don't think I've ever heard Brendan like that.
Do you want my carry-on? I can do a carry-on if you like.
Yeah, it was a bit like that.
Okay, I would imagine we've lost 99% of our audience by now.
I think it might go off and do interesting things.
Surprisingly, Nick, actually we still have 80% of our audience.
Oh no! Oh God, they're so sad. They're about as sad as we are.
They're patient. They're very loyal.
They just want the answers.
Yeah, so number 1: in the 12 Days of Christmas, what gift is given on the 7th day?
7 swans a-swimming?
Yes, Brendan!
Yes, Pot Hens a-Laying. Does anybody know what is a laying?
What are they?
Or what are they in the song? Do you not know what a hen laying?
There's so many— just Hens a-Laying. I'm checking it out now.
Farmers Christmas song.
What it means? I was like, do you not know what a geese laying is.
What was the answer?
What was the answer?
Cows are milking. Have you got cows are milking?
What was the answer?
I don't remember what the answer is.
7 swans are swimming.
7 swans are swimming.
Good.
7 hens are swimming.
7 hens are swimming.
7 hens swinging. Right, quiz number 2. Number 2: Which exotic spice often used in Christmas desserts was once so valuable it was referred to as black gold and traded as currency?
Cloves.
Nope.
Ah, so sure of myself.
Was it nutmeg?
Yes, Brendan!
Oh, okay, I'm gonna, I'm gonna chime in here and say there's an amazing book by somebody I can't remember called—
Oh, it's a book everyone!
Yeah. Nathaniel's Nutmeg. Okay. And it's an amazing book. It's rather brutal of what the Dutch did to the Indonesians and what have you. But it's all about that whole thing of how the West went to the East and pillaged their spices. And if you were— if you were—
right.
So you're a captain, you're fairly accomplished, you know, you've been around Europe and the seas of Europe and what have you. If you could get to the Indonesias, the Spice Islands, and back with one ship full of spices, you could retire at 30.
Wowee.
But your chance of getting back was something like 1 in 4, 1 in 3.
No way.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because that's interesting. And the Cape of Cape Horn, Cape of Good Hope, you can't remember which.
Because before you said it was in desserts, you see, I was actually thinking, because the Three Kings, one of them is frankincense, which is Boswellia. And so that's why I was thinking that you were going, oh, black gold, you know. I was wondering, but is that resin black? Because it's not, is it? So it's like Cloves are—
cloves are black. I bet you they are black, so I think I should get half a point for it.
Okay, well done. There's your rationale for what's happening.
Doing lots of oranges, they become a very Christmasy—
yeah, yeah, right.
Anyway, right, so number 3. Yeah, nutmeg is number 2. So number 3, did anyone get the little riddle thing?
No, because I was thinking Advent. I was trying to work out what the—
I didn't get anything. Nothing. One. Right, so I'm gonna say one.
I'm a number, but I am also a song. I count up, but I don't last long. I'm full of gifts, joy, and cheer. What am I tied to this time of year? The 12 Days of Christmas. I'm a number, also a song.
But you know, not the 12 Days of Christmas.
Well, yeah, but it's not a song.
Yeah, I'm a number, I contain a number, I'm full of gifts. Scratch that one, I think we should scratch that one. So my score— yeah, I'm looking at a zero score here and I can't have it.
You might not, you might get this one right. Okay, so what were the estimated— estimated, whoever gets closest— oh yes, estimated average grocery sales in Ireland in December '23.
It's whoever gets closest. That is a good one. That way I would have got a point for that 14. I'm not going on about it, but in that first round I'm still smart.
Yeah.
So coming back into it, I think the answer is 900 million, and you're going to be very impressed by mathematics on that.
Oh my God, I put 500 million.
But you're incorrect.
I put 2 billion.
No, no, it can't be. There's too many children.
What's the answer?
Too many children.
You know the school people that can't go shopping?
Yeah.
So Irish grocery sales reached a record-breaking €1.4 billion in December 2023.
You can rest your case on it. Like, you are miles away from a putty. I'm only half a billion away.
You're not closer.
You're not closer. You did €2.5 billion and I did €900 million.
I did €2 billion. €2 billion you did.
Oh, did you say—
don't want to say it now.
€900 million. And what was it? €1.5 billion.
€1.4 billion.
Oh, oh no, no, no, because Nick was 0.6 away and, and Conor was 0.5 away. Yes, Conor's got the point.
And I just want to highlight something to you all. I just want to highlight something to you all that I actually—
13, Conor, not 15.
I actually wrote the correct answer. Look right there, there, see that 1.5 billion? That's what I wrote for the answer. I wrote the exact right answer and then I dropped it to 900 million because Bren started going on about Irish kids And so I can't show you my workings. So my workings was 5 million people, and I thought, well, only 3 million of those are actually shopping. And then I thought 500 quid on shopping, but then I thought no, because yeah, you sound about ADHD.
Yeah, you've still got the point.
Yeah, good, good, good.
All right, interestingly, the average household spent €767 on groceries during the However, I want to declare that I think that 1 billion of that was on alcohol and the rest was on useless crap from Amazon which they threw out 3 months later.
The rest was on Santa's little elf hats.
Elf hats with a can inside. Yeah.
Right, so last one. If everyone's— is anyone still here? Blimey.
Yeah, they are. Surprisingly.
Surprising.
Well done.
That's amazing. How much in royalties is Mariah Carey's song All I Want for Christmas generated from its release in '94 to today?
Well, I obviously got this question and the previous one mixed up because I put 1.3 billion.
You're not far off. I, I put that about— I put the same 9— I put 900 million again because I wasn't quite sure.
I put 500 million.
$80 million. Yes!
Oh, that's it. Disappointing. Yeah, crap.
It's not bad for a song that only took 15 minutes to write.
Yeah, it's a great tune.
Oh my word, I'm really disappointed.
Yeah, I think yesterday only took 15 minutes.
Add up everything.
1 out of 5 again. So I scored—
how'd you do for the entire one?
And how, how did everyone do in the 6 out of 20, which is a fail. Yeah, it's not 6, 3, 4, 5.
I thought it was saying 45. I just mixed it.
7. Did you, did you get 7?
I got 8 and a half.
No, 8.
Yeah, Brendan, you win!
Oh my God, I actually won a Christmas quiz!
Nice! I'd love that. It's a great feeling. Oh yeah, cheers.
You win the lavish dog's first prize. We haven't decided what it is yet, but yeah, it will be on its way.
You can have 30 days credit on the next order.
We're gonna have some kind of a tiebreaker. Oh, establish who is, who is the ultimate, uh, raw pet medic.
Oh, okay, question off the top of your head.
Oh, I don't know. I've had 2 gins in. I can't do that.
2 gins in.
Let me see if I've got anything on here.
And if you say who's the tallest, I might kill you. I might walk to your house.
I wouldn't do that to you, Nick. Nick, I wouldn't. I wouldn't do it to you, mate. Don't worry.
Who's the shortest? I think he'd love it if you said who's the shortest.
That's a good one. I can't believe it. Quite tall.
Who can hold their breath with these freaks? I'm—
oh, here we go. You can hold the breath the longest.
Who can hold the breath the longest? And I just assume that you guys won't cheat, okay?
Who can down a drink the quickest?
No, so on 3, you have to hold your breath. Whoever can hold their breath the longest is the ultimate RPM. And don't cheat, don't be so childish that you're going to breathe through your nose.
Ready?
3, 2, 1.
Enjoy the peace, everyone. Again, it's marvelous. If one of you passes out, it will be the funniest thing ever. I hope that was your chair, Connor. This makes a really good, uh, this makes for a great podcast.
He's gonna have it, Nick.
Nick, are you awake? Nick, wake up!
No, he's passed out.
Actually, his camera's on pause.
I think he's asleep.
He's gone to the jacks.
Hey Nick, that was 48 seconds.
He was spoiling himself on his Christmas blanket.
Yeah.
Okay, I think I won that.
This makes for a great podcast.
Oh guys, thank you so much for watching.
Who, uh, Karen, who won that contest?
It was you, Nick. You're 48 seconds.
Hang on, I hadn't even finished. I was going for about a minute and a half.
We thought you needed a bit of a nudge. I was going to ring Ellie and say, you all right? To be honest.
Very good.
That is so hilarious.
So Brendan won, is it?
Well, with Nick.
He won with his brain. I won with my lungs and my masculine capacity, which is good enough for me.
I haven't won anything then. That's not fair. I feel left out. Oh, I feel like the inferior PM. This is a terrible Christmas.
He gets the trophy.
I knew he'd get home. I thought you were going to throw your table up in the air.
I'm sweating underneath that hat. Oh my God, lovely.
It's quite warm in here.
It is very warm, lads. So, okay, so what's, what's in store?
When are we coming back? Hang on. Uh, when are we coming back?
Nobody knows. We should probably— we will record something for Christmas Eve. I think that would be only right that we do some little recording for Christmas, as in not on Christmas Eve, obviously, because if we were to do a little something—
okay, for Christmas, do a little something for Christmas, a little Christmas present.
Yeah, do that 12 Songs of Christmas, you two. You can do it.
I think he's gonna sing Mariah Carey all over Christmas and learn harmonies.
And then we're going to take maybe Tuesday the 31st off, and then we'll be back on Tuesday the 7th of January. Yeah, how about that?
Yeah, do that.
We'll make sure that we give you some wonderful Christmas presents.
Do you know what? We haven't shared any of the footage from the US yet.
Yeah, let's do some US stuff. I've got some stuff from the US as well.
I'd like to share when we met your man, Will. Will Harris. We've got some great video footage of that.
He's a dude.
Yeah. Uh, so I want to get his story about the dung beetles. Remember he was leaning in the car telling us his story? It was so good. Um, anyway, so that'd be good. That'd be good to send out a bit of that content. So that was good, guys. Thanks very much. Yes, Singh says A Dog Named Boo. I only get the YouTube comments, so A Dog Named Boo. Yes, actually, yeah.
Yeah, you are.
He's got a giant black nose, that dog. Look at the size of his nose.
Oh, you'd be bopping that. Love it.
Give us your real name. Come on, in the States, under a pseudonym. 5 o'clock, 3 o'clock.
Yeah. And guys, I just want to say a big thank you to Karen because she's been absolutely— she's been, she's been, um, she's been quite stern with her. Yeah, I always have, because she's normally very laid back about the whole thing, but, um, she has taken no prisoners this evening.
New year, new me. That's it.
Quite impressive. Quite impressive. Uh, and, um, awesome quiz. Please will you come back next year and give us another quiz? Of course, but not quite so difficult.
It will be more difficult next year.
We have an Oasis round maybe.
A little more general knowledge would be nice.
No, no, no general knowledge. Specific knowledge on topics that Conor votes for. There's a narrow, narrow range.
It's going to be more difficult and I'll be more strict.
That's it. Good, good. Do it. All right guys, that was great. I appreciate that. And I'll put my kids to bed. The room is wrapped in fairy lights and we will think of something for Christmas Eve. We need to do a little bit.
Have a lovely Christmas everybody.
Absolutely.
Karen, thank you so much.
And thanks to everybody else for listening as well, guys. We really appreciate your support. We appreciate your support on Patreon, and we will see you down the road. Okay, have a good break.
All right, bye-bye.
See you.
