In this YouTube video, functional‑medicine physician Dr. Preeti Nanda addresses the heightened stress, anxiety, and depression many have experienced since the COVID‑19 pandemic. She acknowledges that stress cannot be eliminated entirely but argues that it can be managed effectively through three practical, three‑minute techniques. The first technique is guided visual imagery, where viewers close their eyes, imagine a favorite place, and fully engage all five senses to evoke calm. The second technique involves expressive writing: participants write down their current negative emotions on one side of a paper, fold it, then write the desired positive feelings on the opposite side, creating a mental transition. The third technique is a behavioral calming method that counters the sympathetic “fight‑or‑flight” response by slowing breathing, smiling, and consciously adopting a calm demeanor to activate the parasympathetic system. Dr. Nanda emphasizes a mind‑body connection, claiming that about 75% of health issues stem from mental states, and encourages viewers to manage their mind to improve overall health. She invites the audience to try the methods, share feedback, and subscribe to her channel “Food, Medicine and Lies.”

If yes, do listen to this video till the end because I am going to talk to you about 3 such marvelous techniques that you will be able to handle stress, anxiety, and depression much better. Please note, I am not saying stress will not be there in your lives. I think in current times Anybody who says that would be just faking or fooling you. But yes, can we manage stress beautifully? Definitely we can. So I am Dr. Preeti Nanda and I practice functional medicine which works on the cause of the disease. I have always been talking about 3-minute strategy to take care of your stress. If you want to know that, do visit my YouTube channel Food, Medicine and Lies. And just listen to what 3 minutes can do in your life. To take that forward, I have 3 more things to share with you. I strongly believe 3 is the number of creation, and 3 is also a number— you know, it's too much and let me do it tomorrow or day after or day, day, day after, right? So we don't park it somewhere else. So what are these 3 exciting things I'm about to tell you? Number 1: Visual imagery. I'm sure you all have tried this technique, used it in your life for one or the other reason. And if you have not, from today your life will change in a big, big, big, but a very positive way. So please sit In attention, take a deep breath, relax yourself, and experience this visual imagery with me. Close your eyes and imagine that you are at your favorite place. It can be a big garden, it can be on a beach, it can be near a small river or a lake. It can be just a small space in your room or any place where you think it's my place and you really love being there. Just be there in that location. Feel your emotions and feelings properly. Now, to increase the depth of your feelings Just use all your 5 senses and get into it. The more you feel, the more you believe, the more you will be in that space when you come out. So how do you see yourself? Do you see yourself alone there? Do you see yourself with a friend, with your lover, with your life partner, with your children? See whatever you are seeing and just experience the feeling that it brings with you. Are your hair, you know, feeling the breeze there? Are you feeling the sand of the beach? Is that wind of air just passing by, giving you that feeling of calm and ease? Can you smell something? The bright smell, the nice flavorful smell of a rose which is nearby, or a chameli? Which you can't ignore, and just be there and imagine what more, how can this get even better, what more you can do at this time to feel nice, and just be in that space. This can be your mood shifter whenever you're feeling stressed or depressed. Or anxious. Before you get into it, dal dal, that is what I call it, right? Just start this visual imagery exercise and see how you feel. Number 2, take a pen and paper and write down what are you feeling. I'm feeling very anxious because I've lost my job. How will I pay my bills for the next month? I'm feeling very sad because my family member is admitted in the hospital and I don't know whether they will come back or not. I am not able to cope up with the daily chores of my office, of my housework, of managing my children, my in-laws, my parents. It's getting too much, or whatever you are feeling. And then just fold that paper like this, and on the opposite paper, write what is it that you want to feel. Do you want to feel happy? Do you want to feel competent enough to be managing all these spheres of your life and just feel light and good about it? And see the transition you will experience. You will love it. Number 3, this is more of a behavior technique. You know what happens whenever we are anxious or stressed or, you know, depressed? We are majorly stimulating our sympathetic nervous system, that is fight-or-flight system. Now what happens during our fight-or-flight system? We are either running, our breathing becomes fast, we start talking loudly, at times we even start shouting, or we start crying. Anything which is not our usual self. The moment you realize this, just go back and do what you will do when you are calm, when you are happy. Like breathe slowly, bring a smile on your face, just calm down, just calm down and see the miracle happening. Friends, You might be thinking that a doctor is telling us all this. Yes, because as a functional medicine doctor and an allopathic doctor from Amritsar Medical College, I very strongly have realized in the last 3 decades that 75% of our health conditions are because of our mind conditions. Manage your mind rather than mind managing you and see those 75% conditions vanish away like this from your life. Try this out, share your feedback, and do remember to subscribe to my YouTube channel, Food, Medicine, and Lies. Stay happy, stay healthy.
