In this fifth‑day video of the "BEND Diabetes" series, Dr. Preeti Nanda Sibal explains why stress is a central, yet overlooked, factor in diabetes and other non‑communicable diseases. She cites historical and recent research indicating that up to 95 % of conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune disorders, and respiratory illnesses are either caused or worsened by chronic stress. She highlights clinical evidence—ranging from support‑group studies in metastatic breast cancer to a case where Dr. Mark Hyman’s grieving patient recovered after learning breathing techniques—that stress reduction can cut diabetes complications by 60‑65 %. Dr. Sibal then offers concrete, low‑time‑commitment strategies: habit changes, belief‑system work, a “Framework of Threes” (three‑minute daily routine), social support, music, and a functional‑medicine, systems‑biology approach that couples diet (her Cyclic Keto protocol) with mental‑health practices. The video concludes with a promotional giveaway (free one‑on‑one consultation, one‑month diet and mental‑health plan, signed copy of her book) and a call‑to‑action to share the video and answer a question for a chance to win.

Hi friends, this is our 5th day together and we are going to talk about diabetes and stress today. So I am Dr. Preeti Nanda Sibal, your diabetes and obesity reversal expert, and the topic today is very, very exciting— stress and diabetes. You know, thousands of articles have been written where scientists have studied and researched how stress impacts diabetes. But despite that, in our allopathic healthcare, this is not something we work on. So let's see today what can we do with this. The doctor who coined the word stress also said that in modern times, any doctor who does not talk about stress management will not be able to heal his or her patients. It is mandatory that doctors study and know how to balance stress, right? So let's look at what new has evolved. In 1977, Peculiar wrote a book, Mind as a Healer, Mind as a Slayer, and he said that arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and hence diabetes, and are important diseases where stress plays a huge role. And today's science says that 95% of these non-communicable diseases, especially diabetes, heart disease Autoimmune conditions like arthritis and lupus, respiratory diseases— 95% are either because of stress or exacerbated because of stress. So either ways, managing stress becomes the key to manage these diseases. You know, a study was done where it was seen that metastatic breast cancer patients who were with support groups lived double the time those patients lived who were without the support group. And there are number and number of studies with diabetics which show that diabetes reversal or the complications of diabetes decrease by more than 60-65% if you manage your stress. There is the story with Dr. Mark Hyman actually refers. It's about his patient, but it is very, very relevant for what we are talking today, stress and diabetes. So he shares that once a patient came to him who had recently lost his spouse, his wife, right? And this man had come post-heart attack because he was not getting any relief in symptoms. So remember, because of grief, his body was full of adrenaline, cortisol, norepinephrine, and all the stress hormones. And Dr. Mark Hyman says that I looked at this patient, took his history, and told him to go and learn breathing and other ways to manage stress. As— and his broken heart, as we say in inverted quotes, was corrected or repaired. How powerful is this, right? And does this excite you guys to do something about your stress, or help someone who has diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune disorders, or respiratory diseases, or corona, to work on their stress and anxiety and do something about it?
