In this video from the Food Medicine and Lies channel, the host demonstrates how to prepare a protein‑rich chana (chickpea) ghee tikki. The process begins with soaking 3/4 bowl of chana dal, grinding it without extra water, and mixing it with mashed paratha, optional onions, salt, chilies, and a binder (either isabgol or rice atta) to achieve the right consistency. The host explains the nutritional benefits of chana dal—high protein, digestion aid, muscle‑building—and discusses how the choice of binder adds fiber or carbohydrates. The mixture is shaped into tikkis, shallow‑fried in coconut oil (with alternatives like deep‑frying or air‑frying), and cooked until golden on both sides. Throughout, the presenter offers variations for religious observances (e.g., omitting onions during Navratras) and highlights health advantages such as increased satiety, weight‑loss support, and digestive benefits.

Welcome to our channel Food Medicine and Lies, and today we are going to make chana ghee tikki. Instead of ghee, you can add any other vegetable also. I had ghee in the house today, so I'm going to add that. So I have soaked this chana dal, 3/4 bowl. I'm going to take it in a blender and just grind it or blend it. Don't add any additional water because as it is, your vegetables do have the required amount of water which we require to get the consistency of the soup. Okay, so now there's channel done. It's been grinded. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to add this in this container. And so, chana dal, because it is very, very good for our digestion as well as has good amount of protein, and it keeps us active and helps in building of muscles. And also with this I am adding this here, the mashed paratha. I'm adding some onions, but if you make this during Navratras, you can skip onions, or any religious days when you don't eat onion, you can skip onion. I'm adding a little salt. You can add salt, chilies, the way you want. And now I'm going to mix all of this. Now to make this into a tikki, and if you think that this is a little liquid, you can add 2 teaspoons of isabgol. All my vegetable tikkis, the binder is either isabgol or rice atta. Now rice atta has carbohydrates and Isabgol has fiber, so choose what you want, yeah, whatever you've had less that day, and you can mix that in this mixture. So, are very simple but mazedaar isabgol, right? Just add it because it will also add fiber to whatever you are eating. It will bind your tikkis better, right? And Of course it will be more filling and also it will help you lose weight. The tikkis are ready, right? I'm going to put some coconut oil. I'm going to shallow fry this. You can also deep fry or you can also do it in air fryer, but chana ki tikki generally shallow fry. Crespo. And now I'm going to put these in the pan once it is heated a little. So, 2 minutes, heat on and pan in the middle. So now the oil is hot and I'm going to put these chickpeas in the pan. Just be careful that the oil doesn't splinter on you. Now I'm going to cover these chickpeas for a while and we will wait. So now we have flipped the chickpeas and we will keep it on this side also now for 2-3 minutes.
