Hormones Over Mood (On Public Demand)

In this 50‑minute interactive masterclass, Dr. Priti Nanda Sibal (functional medicine physician, anti‑aging specialist, and author) educates a live audience about cortisol – the body’s primary stress hormone – and its profound influence on mood, energy, weight, cognition, and overall health. She shares her personal experience of cortisol deficiency during a stressful period, explains the physiology of cortisol, distinguishes high versus low cortisol states, and outlines the common symptom cluster (fatigue, anxiety, mood swings, abdominal weight gain, cravings, sleep disruption, immune susceptibility). Dr. Sibal describes a step‑by‑step diagnostic workflow that includes an initial questionnaire, blood pressure testing, pupil test, and serum/salivary cortisol assays. Several patient case studies illustrate how low cortisol impairs hormone balance, performance, and quality of life. The session then transitions to a practical, lifestyle‑focused intervention: a 14‑day cortisol‑balancing program featuring a 3‑minute stress‑reduction framework, belief‑work, diet plan, circadian‑aligned testing, six online group sessions, and a money‑back guarantee. Throughout, she engages participants with polls, chat interactions, and calls to action for further webinars, feedback, and personal consultations. The overarching message is that cortisol must be in balance – neither too high nor too low – and that individuals can regain control of mood, productivity, and health by measuring and correcting cortisol levels.

So the topic for today is Hormones Over Mood: Change the Way You Feel by Correcting Your Hormone Balance. I'm sure During this lockdown especially, we all have realized that we have mood swings, that moods play a very important role in our lives, and we have also been able to observe our moods much more closely than we ever did before. Yes, if you agree with me, give me a big yes in the chat box. So today, what we are going to talk in the next 50 minutes is we are going to first understand what is cortisol. A lot of us have heard this term and lot of us have not heard this term. But most importantly, how important cortisol is in our lives. Can we measure it? Can we know more about it? Can we manage it on our own? Are all the questions which we will look into today, right? We will also look at some case studies. I have specially built or made a special program for all of you so that I am able to handhold you to help you balance your cortisol if it is in imbalance. I will share the details of that with you and will also show you how that will look. So anybody who is interested, do not leave till the end. Right, because the best will come then. Perfect. So, so I congratulate all of you because you have taken your first step to free yourself from your hormonal issues. This masterclass is not for everybody. This masterclass is for people who want to keep their hormones in balance. Why? Because they want to live a full, energetic, successful, healthy, happy life. They are not the ones who are ready to accept things like fatigue, things like obesity, things like, you know, mood swings, and things like suboptimal performance in professional lives, in personal lives, and in relationships. So if you are one of those for whom this masterclass has been made, please give me a thumbs up in the chat box. I've only got 3 thumbs up in the chat box. So for the remaining 121, what do you think? This is for you or this is not for you? This is for you. Yes, you can seize control of your health, and it is in your hands whether you are healthy professionally, personally, financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Right, and together we can achieve it. So my name, most of you know me, but for those who don't know me, I am Dr. Preeti Nanda Sibal, a mother to two boys, 25 and 23, and a wife to a loving husband. I am an MBBS from Amritsar Medical College, 1989 batch. I am a fellowship holder in in anti-aging and metabolic medicine from George Washington University, US. I'm an MBA from IIM Lucknow and a certified executive coach from Center of Executive Coaching, Florida. And I've been working for last 30 years. I'm an author of 2 books, Cyclic Keto and 4-Hour Rapid Fat Loss Method. The 3rd book which is about to come is What Doctors Don't Know About Diabetes Reversal. And I am your diabetes obesity reversal expert. I work on bioidentical hormone therapy, autoimmune diseases with vitamin D, and helping you manage your cortisol, because I believe peak performance is the only way to live life. Perfect. And I know you know it, that unless we have experienced it ourselves, we never get it right. Yes. And I experienced it myself this year in December— last year December, but January was the time when I came to know about it. Now what happened? This was what was happening with me in November, December. This girl on the top, always scratching my head, always panicking, always finding it difficult to do things. And I was traveling to US for a 1-month trip to appear for my exams for functional medicine. So it was a huge course. I was all set that I am going to top these among all these Americans and other doctors from worldwide, because I want to be the best so that I can heal you in the best possible way. And every day, morning, evening, was a struggle for me to get up, go for the conference, appear for my exams. It was very difficult. I was losing memory. I was having anxiety episodes. I was feeling so tired. Did I can't tell you I was taking multiple cups of coffee during the day to stay active? I had gained weight, you know, a few years back when I became a diabetic, but it was all over the place. But this time, typically, I gained weight in my lower abdomen. Which was very strange because I had started thinking that I have lost weight forever and I can never get it back, right? So this happens with a lot of us. The moment we start thinking now nobody can beat us, something else happens, right? So this happened. A lot of things were going on in my life. My father-in-law was in an ICU. My son had jaundice. My other son couldn't get a visa, so he was left here. He couldn't travel with me. And lots and lots of things on the personal front. On the professional, of course, I had these exams to give. It was chilling cold in US. The exams were in Las Vegas. And so everywhere there was activity, and I think you can sense that. And I was in this situation in that blue coat. Imagine how was that? Very, very difficult. And the moment I landed back, I came back, I got my blood test done. And because I practice functional medicine, medicine which works on the cause of the disease, I got all my blood tests done, my detailed package. And what came up? I was low in cortisol, my insulin had started moving up, and I had all those symptoms because of this. My thyroid had started shifting, my amino acid profile had started shifting, just because of this stress hormone which I had used too much. And now this hormone had said, I cannot help you anymore, fight your battles yourself, right? I started working on my cortisol, and you know what? People have always thought of me as a very energetic person. I've always been laughing, jumping, doing more than what I could ever do. And I remember about 8-10 years back, I was heading publishing in Springer, which is the second largest publishing house in the world. And I had an American boss, and when he used to come and we used to travel together, every time, you know what he used to say? He used to say, pretty If you are even half as tired as I am, you would be completely dead. Because he used to be so tired that he used to say, how do you manage this, Preeti? But yes, I think all of that together with this last sprint of my exams and, you know, health problems and travel and all of what was happening around, finally my building collapsed. And I promise you, friends, it was a very difficult journey. One side, I couldn't share it with anybody because I thought my image— what will happen to my image, right? People would think, Doc, if this happens to you, then what's the point of being a doc, right? But we all are human beings, and I think I was reading an interview 4 days back from the number one functional medicine doctor, Dr. Berg, from Spain. And you know what he had to say? A patient asked him in an interview, how do I know that a doctor is a good doctor? You know what was the reply? Any guesses on the reply, friends? Let me hear it from you. I know you would surely know it. Yes. Please. Yeah, what would have been the reply? Anybody who can tell me what would have been the reply of this very, very smart doctor? Right. Anybody else? Patient should never come back. If he comes back again and again to you, means some cause was not found. If his diagnosis perfectly— you know what his reply was? If he has suffered from this, that disease, and has treated himself or herself. And I thought nothing could be, you know, more properly said than this. And 2 months, 3 months back, during this lockdown, I started getting the levels checked, and I started finding a lot of us girls, 17 years old, boys 25 years old, having this problem. And I came out of my taboo and my box and said, this is what I have to talk about. And why? One, Because this is the way I feel now. And just to tell you as a proof, you know what, today I have two webinars, one from 5:30 to 6:30 and another one from 7 to 8:30. And that is not by chance, by choice, because I'm not like this. Because if I would have been like this, I would not have been able to do a webinar at least 3 days post this webinar. And that was my state. I used to do things, but I used to take long breaks to recoup because my body did not have the recouping mechanism set. And now I'm this, and that's the reason 2-3 months back I thought I'm going to talk about it. One, because I saw this difference, and I also saw that diabetes, migraine are a lot in the brain. They don't ruin our life this way. But this does. My decision-making had gone for a toss. I could not do more than 2 consultations of 1 hour each at a time. I used to take a break. My kids couldn't discuss anything with me which was, you know, contradictory, because I would start crying immediately. I couldn't take too much. So it was because— so people were not becoming open with me. I can go on and on, but it was not something I could live with. I promise you that it was not something I could live with. And that's the reason we are here together. And let's talk about first, what is cortisol? You know what happens when we are under stress? Our body releases a hormone, and this hormone is called cortisol. When We are in fight-or-flight mode. That means somebody is running behind us. You have a presentation in the office which is going to decide whether you are going to be chosen for the promotion you so desperately want or not. This cortisol in your body increases, your adrenal rush happens, and you succeed. And imagine if you don't have cortisol in your body, no adrenal rush can happen. What will happen? It will result in professional and personal failures both, right? Now just look at this, high cortisol and low cortisol. So we generally may have 4 times cortisol level because cortisol changes with our Circadian rhythm, right? And what happens there is, look at this. Here, morning cortisol is fine, lunch cortisol is fine, 4 PM cortisol is high, and at 8 PM it's even higher. So what will happen with this patient? This patient will not be able to sleep properly. Now, when this patient will not be able to sleep properly, what will happen? The patient will not be very fresh next day morning. Over the years or months, this will either go down— first will go up and then will come down if we don't do anything about it. Then what will happen? This guy will start drinking alcohol, caffeine, smoking, because this guy needs cortisol to be in balance. So look at this. If you have your cortisol imbalance, this is the type of relationship you have, which you— which is on the left. And if your cortisol is not in balance or you are in adrenal fatigue, You will start like this, but you will end up like this, because after some time you say, I am not able to cope up. Choice is yours, friends. But what we are going to talk today is that there is a solution, right? Your decreased ability to handle stress is what happens when we have low cortisol. And you know the good news is what? The good news is that we have blood tests, salivary tests to tell us whether we are in adrenal fatigue or not. You've done a questionnaire in the beginning. That is the first test my patients do when they come to my clinic with these symptoms, right? After that, we give them a detailed questionnaire, which is Adrenal Fatigue Questionnaire. And then we measure their blood pressure in lying and standing position, and if that drops, then we do the pupil test, and then we do the blood test. What did you see in this? Please give me in the chat box what did you see in this video. A successful man. Yeah, there was only music. That's fine. I— but you were able to see it, right? So there was just music at the back, but what did you see? Yes, first a tired person and then a very successful man. So what do you want, the first one or the second one? Second one, right? Who wants the first one? And you know what was the difference? The difference was his low cortisol levels to balanced cortisol levels. It makes that type of impact, friends. So if you are stressed, what happens? Your cortisol goes down, you have low energy, you are nervous, and you are confused, right? And there was this study done which showed that cortisol deficient people, almost 84% of people coming to the clinic were cortisol deficient possibility, 50% were probably cortisol deficient, 13 and 4, that is 17%, were cortisol deficient definitely. Now what does this, this, does this data tell us? This data tells us that this is a disease of the new era. We are not talking about it, but are because of our lifestyle, we are suffering with this disease. And it is impacting our personal, professional relationships. We are tired and wired, and that is resulting in cortisol deficiency. And because we are not able to treat it, we are not able to get out of it. Honestly, friends, I never thought this was so prevalent. A 17-year-old girl will have this? I had never thought that. A 24-year-old man would have it? I had never thought that I would have it at 47, 48. I had never thought that, but when reports tell you and you have symptoms, then you know things have changed. So like diabetes has increased, like PCOS has increased, like heart diseases have increased, like mental disorders have increased, one thing which has also increased is cortisol deficiency. In meditation, in yoga, We always keep talking about high cortisol levels, but that was the thing of the past, because in the beginning the cortisol levels become high and it helps support us. But when we do not change our lifestyles, it crashes deep down, and that is when everything goes for a toss. Now look at this. This is cortisol deficiency. Your sunken eyes, Your aging skin. You can be losing weight, or you can be just gaining weight in your lower half below the umbilicus. Any of that could be cortisol deficiency signs. Your decreased ability to take stress. Ask yourself, has your ability to take stress decreased in the last 3-5 years? 10 years. To me, friends, and to a lot of doctors who work in this space, cortisol deficiency is equal to psycho-emotional suffering, right? Sugar cravings, another thing. If you have sugar cravings, check yourself for cortisol levels. And to top it up, if you have salt cravings ever, your cortisol has gone for a toss. You have to work on your cortisol so that you get rid of sugar cravings and salt cravings. What else? If you have symptoms of colitis, that is pain in your abdomen, eczema, allergies, gastroenteritis, conjunctivitis, flu, low cortisol chances of COVID increases. Ear, nose, throat infection, asthma, food allergies, fever— all this, all inflammation related to low cortisol. And that is not all. Low cortisol is directly connected with increased mortality. And if you have no cortisol, because if you don't check it, that stage is not far. I get patients with cortisol levels of 3. 4, then we need it to be 19, 18, 16, 17. If you have no cortisol, all your hormones are made from this. Remember, within 24 hours you will be no more. So I think a lot of people have just told us cortisol is bad, cortisol is bad, cortisol is bad. But remember, without cortisol you have no life. So cortisol in balance is the most critical thing you need in your body, guys. So good news, get yourself tested, and if your test indicates that you are in normal range, perfect, nothing to worry, just work on your lifestyle and you will be good. But if it tells you you are low, Immediately you know why you feel fatigued, why you have mood disorders, why you are overweight, why you, you know, get very irritated with your team members, with your family members, with your spouse, why you are not able to take contradictions, why you do not think very, very highly about yourself, and why you feel that life, your professional, personal life, is all a struggle. Just this one hormone can change the way you look at yourself. The simple things which we can do for to improve cortisol secretion are of course increase daylight, increase light, avoid indoor pollutants, regularly relax, but do meditation, yoga, all of it is fine, but do not shy away from getting it tested. I am sure none of us have reached where we have without appearing for our school exams, college exams. Yes, I have studied so much, and I am very sure I would not have got those degrees if I would not have cleared those exams. Yes, please clear this exam and find out for yourself. Because this is not the way you want to live, and this is not the way I want anybody on this earth to live. So are you ready to climb the ladder and find out for yourself what is your body trying to tell you when it comes to your stress hormone? Give me a yes in the chat box if you are ready. If you are ready, give me a yes in the chat box. Are you excited, friends, to know, you know, how can I find this out? Do you— are you relating to this? Nothing has been closer to truth for me in the last few months. So let's do a bit of poll. Harmans can be corrected. My doctor said no. What do you say? What do you say, friends? Can be corrected. Very good. Great, great, great. Yes. Wow, so half of my thing is already done. You know it can be corrected, and once you know it can be corrected, you will do it. I'm very positive about it. I am confused. I've been feeling these symptoms for a long time now. How many of you think you have experienced these symptoms off and on during your lifetime? Give me a yes if you have felt tired, if you have felt anxiety, if you have felt like it's too much for you to take on this life now, if you felt the stress, right? I see a lot of us going through this, right? So let's look at this. Now, this is my friend Gurut. She has a very premium hospital. And for the last 1 year, she was going to the every department of the hospital to get her test done, right? And what happened? She came to me after a year and said, Preeti, nothing is happening. What to do? I checked her cortisol levels and they were almost negligible. And friends, when she came, she said, Preeti, I'm heading— I have such a high post, you know, I have so much of responsibilities, but if two people walk in my room, I'm not able to make a decision. I, by the time I reach back home in the evening, even before that, I fall on my bed and I don't care what is happening around. This is not the way I can live and continue. And we worked on her cortisol. And friends, I'm happy, in my last webinar she joined us. And you know what did she say? She said, I am able to make all decisions again now. I am able to operate a COVID-positive hospital and take care of my team and all the patients which are admitted there. Thank you for helping me work on my cortisol. And this was phenomenal, very, very heart-touching. Mazaag ya. So if we are feeling these symptoms, we should definitely ask for help. It is very, very important. And friends, now let's do a simple poll, right? So do you want to motivate others with your transformation? Yes or no? Please give me your answer. Wow! How many of you think you have more potential but for some reason are not able to play at their full potential? Could be just your cortisol. How many of you think you know it but you are not able to implement it in full? 88%. Very honest. If you got some knowledge in today's masterclass, will you want to apply it in your life? Thank you, friends. Honestly tell me whether you find this knowledge new and unique. 100% have found this knowledge new and unique. Thank you, but I have got only 32 answer— votes out of the 144 people here. I am waiting for more votes, friends. All of us must vote. You know why? Not because I am asking you to vote. Because if you vote, your both sides of the brain become active and you tend to remember more, right? So please vote, friends, please vote. We have 58 votes till now out of the 44 people present here. 61. I am still waiting and counting. 63, 64, 65. I need more words, friends. If we don't act Just click on the poll buttons and your vote I will receive. Perfect. Can you all clap for your own self? We've reached 51% participation, which is phenomenal. Thank you, thank you, thank you. And I am now ending this poll. 73, 53%. Wow, wow. 'You have made my day. Thank you very much.' And 95% think they learned something new and unique today, and 99% have promised that they will apply whatever they've learned today. 58% people have voted. Thank you, thank you, thank you. So let's look at So I've shared the results. I think all of you can see it, and this is phenomenal, phenomenal. Thank you. Yes, and just a minute, I'm gonna check on the chat. Very good. Now let's see what is it that I have in store for you. Meanwhile, I'm posting this link. Vibhuti, can you post this feedback link? This is my humble request to all of you. Please share your feedback. It helps us improve. It also helps us feel motivated so that we keep coming back to you with more and more of such sessions. Vibhuti, please post it so that everyone who is here can click on it and share their feedback. Please. Yes, Vibhuti, thank you. So friends, let's again quickly look at this. Are you feeling any of these symptoms? Stress and brain fog, anxiety and depression, mood swings, always tired, weight gain around middle area, Relationship issues. If yes, Sorry, friends, extremely sorry, but I think the light went for a second and that's when this happened. But give me a minute, I'm going to be with you again quickly. Yes, perfect. So look at this now. This was a patient who came to me, 40-year-old male, and look at this morning cortisol 6.20. What do you think the quality of life would be for this patient? What do you think the quality of life would be for that patient? Not able to get up, feeling tired, feeling exhausted, feeling pain in the body all the time. Feeling like, you know, somebody should massage me, somebody should hold me here, and stuff like that. Not able to work, you know, with full enthusiasm, and lots more. And look at this— how can he— all his other hormones, including testosterone, is gone for a toss because of this one hormone. Now let's look at what did we see in the questionnaire. Now this is about you, friends. This is about you, so please be with me. All the ones in the red, yellow, and green, which is almost 80% of you who are attending this webinar, should find out what their cortisol levels are. Must find out. And I'm telling you must because I'm— I can see the symptoms there. And let's look at this video before I tell you what I have to offer.
Stressful lives. Sometimes we have to go without sleep. All of this raises cortisol levels. I don't know about you, but when I am very stressed, I have a hard time finding my keys. I start losing things all over the place. It's hard for me to think clearly. And the mechanism for that is that when we are stressed, we produce a stress hormone known as cortisol. Cortisol is a glucocorticoid, which means it actually does implicate glucose. And what happens is that when you have chronic stress, this actually produces damage. You can see this in a person because of the constant influx of cortisol. But all of these are actually very long-term, and what I wanted to see is, is there actually a much simpler explanation that we could see even in the short term? So the simple explanation is that other cells can't make use of glucose. Maybe this is true of neurons as well. So maybe what's happening is that you're eating your cakes and cookies but these neurons are not able to access the glucose, and therefore they are starving to death and dying. The established way of thinking about glucose and insulin in the brain is that the brain doesn't use insulin. There are GLUT3 and GLUT4 transporters, and the common knowledge is that GLUT3 is what the brain uses, and that it's insulin independent. It doesn't depend on insulin, and it's actually other types of cells that make use GLUT4, which is insulin dependent. I'm sorry to tell you that information is incorrect. Even back in 1998, people were starting to find insulin receptors in the brain. In 2011, people were able to find that actually individuals who were insulin resistant had reduced uptake of glucose in the brain, which is what insulin resistance means. It means that the glucose cannot be taken up by the brain. And the mechanism by which this damage occurs as a result of stress is actually insulin resistance. It actually— the cortisol makes the neurons insulin resistant. And this is how I became interested in ketones.
