In this short video, Dr. Priti Nanda Sibal explains the rising prevalence of osteoporosis and osteopenia, attributing it to poor gut health and a shift from nutrient‑dense foods like sesame seeds to junk food that lacks calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus. She demonstrates how to make a calcium‑rich sesame seed milk, detailing the soaking time, water‑to‑seed ratio (2–3 × water), blending, sieving, and pressing steps. She advises on proper consistency, storage in ice‑tray portions for convenience, and various ways to consume the milk (plain after boiling, in smoothies, etc.). The tone is instructional and conversational, with an underlying concern for bone health and enthusiasm for the simple dietary remedy.

Welcome to our channel Food Medicine and Lies, and today we are going to make sesame seed milk. Why? Because we know that osteoporosis and osteopenia is increasing dramatically. One of the major reasons for this is our bad gut health, because if gut health is bad, absorption of food is not as good. But the second reason is also that our foods have changed. We have moved from eating sesame seeds and other nice nuts and all to eating junk food, which does not give us the required calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, which is required for good bone health. So what I've done is I've taken 1/2 tablespoon of sesame seeds and soaked them in water for about 30 minutes. Now I'm going to put them in my blender jar and I'm going to add some water. Please make sure that we don't add too much water in this because if it is not in right proportion, it will become very thin and you will not be able to use it. So what I've done is I've taken 1 complete tablespoon full. So I have taken 4 aas, which is yes, which is 1/3 and 2/3 ke beech mein bilkul half par hai. And I'm going to add this in the container. So you see, double the water of the sesame seeds. 2 to 3 times of water than the sesame seeds is what you can add, not more than 3 times. And now we're going to blend. Wow, I'm already feeling that I have grown something new. So please try it, and when you use it, let me know how do you like the taste of it. Make sure that your sesame seeds are there like that, they are blended properly. It is ready, right? Just open it and sieve it. You can use a spoon if it is not getting sieved. Just make sure that, you know, it's blended properly, because if it's not blended properly, then the milk will not have all the nutrition which we want it to have.
Perfect. Yeah, okay.
And press it with your spoon so any milk which is remaining in the leftover husk or the leftover part also is sieved.
Yes, perfect. Perfect.
So now sesame milk is ready and you can use it the way you want to use it. So we can use this sesame milk, we can drink it as it is after boiling. We can also use it in our smoothies, banana smoothie and all. But what I generally do is when I make this milk, I store it in an ice tray. So I will have 2 ice trays or 3 ice trays for different types of milk. And so that I don't have to do this every day. So this helps me eat what I want to eat even with my busy schedule.
