What is Functional Medicine

Dr. Priti Nanda Sibal explains functional medicine as a root-cause approach that investigates why symptoms like high blood pressure or fatigue occur, rather than treating them in isolation. It looks at digestion, genetics, trauma, diet, sleep, inflammation, and stress. Healing timelines range from days to months depending on what's driving the problem.

What is functional medicine? Functional medicine is the science of creating health. It is a whole system approach, not just symptoms approach. We focus on the whole organism, not on organs. So what I want to say is, it is the medicine of why. Why are you having blood pressure? Why are your sugar levels high? Why are you feeling fatigued or irritable? So symptoms approach, what does it mean? It means that, you know, we focus on the symptom systems and then find out what is the underlying cause of your problem. For example, if you have heart disease It could be because of poor digestion, because of genetics, trauma, toxic thoughts, lack of exercise, nutrient deficiencies, poor relationships, inflammation, stress, poor diet, toxins, lack of sleep, and many more. So we focus here, and when we focus here, of course, when the roots are good, the plant has to be good. Your diseases actually vanish away. Now this approach of shifting Moving from disease-specific to patient-centric approach is the future of medicine. It's rethinking disease, rethinking medicine, and rethinking the energy at which we should live. This is also an effort to make people live at their peak wellness. How long can it take for a patient to heal in this? So it can take a long time and it can take only a few days. Depends on what is your problem and what is the cause of your problem. The health journey always has to be with patience, with persistence, and it depends when you will reach your target. Do we prescribe you nutritional supplements when we practice functional medicine? Yes, because in functional medicine we believe that without diet nothing can be cured. But with diet, if there is an imbalance in the body, there are deficiencies, we do prescribe nutritional supplements or other activities like exercise, like better sleep habits, Lifestyle changes, grounding, etc., so that the whole body can be taken into account. Of course, we balance the root cause and we help you live at peak wellness. If you want to book an appointment with us, do call us at 98684-7899. 149 and experience this for yourself.
