Dr. Betty Murray says don't accept dismissal from your doctor. Trust your gut, describe symptoms precisely with timing and details, and find a new provider if they won't listen. The Minerva clinic is one alternative.

So when you talk to your doctors, do not let them dismiss you. Do not let them gaslight you and be really specific. So number one, right? Trust your instincts. If your instincts are screaming at you because this person's dismissive, fire them. Just, just fire them. You can fire a doctor, right? It's just like a hairdresser, except a hairdresser is probably nicer to you and has a better relationship with you and much better bedside manner. Second, be specific when you're talking to them. Don't just say, I'm tired. Be very specific about your symptoms. Whatever they may be. I am sleeping by 10:00 PM, but I wake up at 3:00 AM and I'm up for 2.5 hours and then I fall back asleep right before my alarm. I can't fall back asleep. I have anxiety that shows up out of nowhere. I get my heart rapidly beating, but I'm not doing anything. Maybe I snap at my kids. Be really specific because if you're not, they're going to dismiss it. And you want to also be specific. Specific about timeframe. I never felt like this before. I didn't have this until X time period. Right? You have to be specific because that may help them. And then third, if they aren't listening, right? Again, that's like, go back to number one and repeat. Find a new one, right? There's plenty out there. That's why Minerva exists. That's why my clinic exists.
