Dr. Betty Murray explains autoimmune disease as the body signaling it's under stress and needs support. She describes how practitioners can help by addressing hormonal balance, nervous-system regulation, and calming practices like meditation and nature exposure, allowing the immune system to re-regulate.

Your body is working for you. Give it what it needs. Give it the support it needs. Remove as best you can the things that are causing it too much stress. And when you have an autoimmune condition, it's your, it's your body screaming out, hey, I need some help here. I'm doing everything I can to stay regulated, but I am not regulated, you know? And so help me out. And that's where we come in as practitioners. We say, okay, does the body need hormones? If so, what type? Does this woman need support in regulating her nervous system? Does she need more time out in nature? Does she need to be listening to the sounds of nature? Does she need to maybe look at meditating or whatever, or breathing techniques, whatever is going to regulate the nervous system so that the immune system can re-regulate? And then you kind of pull yourself out of this concept of my body's attacking itself.
