In this brief interview excerpt, Dr. Betty Murray introduces the concept of cellular health for a general audience, clarifying that it goes beyond basic school biology. She and the co‑speaker focus on mitochondria, describing them as the cell’s “little powerhouse” and setting the stage for deeper discussion about how mitochondrial function underpins overall cellular health.
When you're talking about cellular health, help my listeners kind of understand what does that mean? They're probably like, oh my God, that's like health class from 9th grade.
Going back to thinking about the little powerhouse of the cell, the mitochondria, right?
Right.
So, it's kind of this idea where I'm always thinking about kind of recharging the cell before repairing. So, this redox concept of charging the mitochondria to produce more energy before you can go on to repair it. So, it's just really your body's capacity To have the energy it needs to do that repair. So, you enter that substrate of the hormone and does the body have enough energy to do the repair that that hormone kind of requires or modulates is really kind of at the crux of that. And, there's a lot of things that go into balancing and that balancing energy act, but that's really kind of at the foundational or really act.
