What is one of those things that you got to do every single day or every single week or every single month or what is that one thing that is just kind of a pain in the butt and you just don't know where to start when it comes to it? Well, lo and behold, it's creating a schedule. Creating a schedule can be one of those things that just really drives you bonkers because you have to really think deeply about all the things that connect to your life. You have to think about all the things that connect to your ambitions, the things that you care about, your needs, desires, your wants, all those things. So today, what I want to do is I want to walk you through how to create a schedule and how to think about it in a really holistic way. I'm going to walk you through and teach you how to do this. And guess what? We're going to do this in 10 minutes. It's just going to take 10 minutes of your life. So if you're curious about should I stick around for this 10 minutes? Should absolutely stick around for this 10 minutes, because we're going to dive into it right now. So let's go. All right, so the first thing that we're going to do, I'm going to come over into Figma. Here we go. And I'm just going to zoom in. So first off, I just want to set some intention. So how do you currently spend your time? Where do you spend it? Well, the first thing that you probably might want to spend your time is on your passions and your ambitions. The things that really bring you joy, the things that really excite you, the things that kind of lift you up every day. We want to be able to connect to those things. The second thing that we want to be able to connect to is kind of like our role and responsibility. So whether you're, you know, I a young creator and a young maker, like what is your role in the team or the projects or the things that you're doing, and what are the responsibilities that you actually need? Now, whether it's design, product, you're building a video team, you're building a video game, whatever it is, there's a sense of role and responsibilities that will come along with the things that you take on. So we want to understand what those roles and responsibilities. The third thing that we want to do is we want to think about how we are going to be learning and growing, you know, not just every month, but every day. What are we taking from the things and experiences that we have and how are we using that in a way to be able to go grow. So these are the three things I want you to think about on how you're spending your time today. Because now what we're going to do is dive into creating an actual schedule. So to do that. Here we go. So you can see this. So I have this framework that I want to show you too. And we're going to break all these things down and we're going to start unveiling a lot of really cool things. So the first thing that I want to do is I want to go to the awareness bucket. So in the awareness bucket, we have the first six things that we really want to drive. We really want to understand our big six. These are the opportunities in our life, the purpose that we have in our life, the priorities that we have, how we want to identify as a creat, as a maker, as a person, how do we want to interact with other people, and what success really looks like. So we really want to understand those things. The second couple things that we want to do is we really want a good grasp of our goals, our passion, our project, our career, interpersonal goals. If we don't have a really good idea of what our holistic goals are, then it's really challenging for us to really be able to map these things to things that we actually put in our schedule, things we put in our plan. So we really want to have an idea, you know, two to three of these passion goals, project goals, career goals, personal goals. Then, then we have like the things that we're going to want to do every single week. So I'm going to move my, I'm going to move this. I'll just move it down. So I'll move it over here. These are awareness buckets. And the momentum is thinking about, you know, how you schedule, how you plan, how you build flow and systems into your life and then how you have missions and purpose. So these are all the things that we need to be able to do before we can actually schedule, before we can actually plan. Because what are we going to plan? What are we going to schedule? I don't. I don't know, Drew. Like, well, these are the things that you got to do. So I have a worksheet for these which I'll link to. I have a goal worksheet which I can link to as well. And then these are the things that we're going to do. All right, but we're not going to do all of it because, right. This is only a 10 minute session. And look, we already have time where we only got five minutes left. So the second thing that we need to do is we need to think about the things that we want to advance. We need to think about the intention blocks of the questions that we can ask ourselves. And we need to think about the rituals, rhythms and how we're going to get into the flow. Like it's not just a matter of, you know, just stepping into our projects and getting ready. Like just it's automatically going to get flow. You have to design and architect the schedule. You have to design and architect the flow. So let's first look at this, this one right here. So let me come down. I'm just gonna move advancements outta the way. There it is. Let's going to be in this corner and let's start first looking at this. So the first thing that we have to think about, I don't want to do that. There we go. Is we have the quarters. So if you're new to understanding the quarters of the year, you know, you typically have three months inside of a quarter and a lot of teams schedule with quarter, quarter based. And this is really nice because what you can do is, is you can really look at your month one, your month to your month three, whatever you're scheduling these things. And, and what I, what I typically do is I look at these as rocks and these are the things that I'm advancing. So after I understand what my big six is, my, my goals and my momentum, I'll be taking one to three big rocks and putting them inside of this. And these will be like big, giant initiatives or big things that I want to accomplish and I'll just fill them in and I'll create a little plan that in the first month these are all the top 10 things that I want to do. You know, whether it's like I want to get back into a physical strong shape or I want to, or I want to kick start a new project, whatever it is, this is where it's going to go. And then what we'll do is after we understand those first three months, then we'll do the same process again. You know, we have to think about how we build on things month over month and then we'll do it again, and then we'll do it again. And now this might seem like a very big project, but it is because when you're thinking about building a schedule, you want to build a schedule that builds on each other. So if you understand your priorities and you understand all the other elements on here, you really start to realize how much more you can accomplish in every single month when you actually document and define what it is that you're going to do. Because a lot of these things don't take that much time. They just take a lot of focus, discipline and intention. Then for every month that you go through this process, you want to be able to have a theme for the month and your top three priorities for each of these months and rocks. So let's keep going. So then we have our intention blocks. So intention blocks are the things that you want to be able to ask yourself whenever you're going through these new initiatives. And you can ask yourself so many different types of questions. But the thing is, here is I want to encourage you to think about like, well, what systems that need focus, new connections that need to be made, what priorities that need action right now, where the new projects to start and plan, what are the areas I need help or I need to ask for questions. So you can ask all of these questions. Projects that need focus, flow outcomes to focus on new initiatives, to explore and test new ideas to build momentum on people. I need to ask feedback, people that need feedback from me or guidance experiences you wish to create and bring to life, new learnings and insights to take on action on people and projects that need facilitated in personal areas of improvement. So this is all these sorts of questions that you can ask yourself and you can come up with your own questions that you ask. But these are the things that from my role and my responsibility, these are the things that help me keep momentum and keep building. So I want to encourage you to do that. We also know that in each one of these things, we need to have a schedule. We need to have block time. We need our rituals, routines and habits. And then this last one down here, if I bring this down, bring this over here and I'm going to move this down. So what we have here is just a way, a visual for you to think about how you're looking at your Monday through Sunday and what are the top things that you want to connect to on a Monday through Sunday and just be very reflective about it. So for me, I really like to think about my priorities during the beginning of the week. I like to set intention and I like to connect to my purpose, my joy, dedication, my practice throughout the whole week. And then I really finish strong with my outcomes, my benchmarks, I evaluate and I measure so I can get in a really good routine of doing this every single week. Then once you have all those things in your, in your peripheral, then I want you to really start thinking as a product leader. Well, what are all the products and the product ecosystems that I support? What are all those things look like here? I'll zoom out a little bit so you can see all the things. And the important thing over here on the far right is you have to be able to understand all the products that you support and all the people that you are surrounded by. And once you understand what all these individuals need and what they desire and what they, what they want to do, then you can start finding really good ways for you to schedule in time to support the product and support the people in a really harmonious way. So look, we're getting ready to be building. Let me come back to you. We're in this process right now where we're getting ready. We're coming into the new year, so right now is a really great time to start thinking about what you want to accomplish in 2023. And there, there's the timer, the timer's over. So that means we gotta, we gotta wrap up the session. But like, think about in 2023 what it is that you wanna accomplish. And in 2023, you know, what are your passions and ambitions? What are your roles and responsibilities? What are you learning and growing in? Document these things, write these things out, and then come back to this worksheet or come back to this video and really look at all of these things. Here, let me show you one more time. And I want you to really think about these things and get super reflective about, you know, what are you going to do in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December? What are you going to do in those months? And how can you start breaking out the things that you want to accomplish so that you can crush 2023? And I think that it might seem like an overwhelming task, but this is a big project for you. This, this is something that you should take initiative and take time to really plan out and schedule. And I'm going to do that right now. It's going to take some time, but I just wanted to show you how I think about creating schedules and how to, how to set framework around this so that you can go in and start diving into each one of these big rocks and then you can just start breaking down. So even if these are big ten, big giant initiatives, remember, inside of that initiative, you, you can have, you know, three to, you know, to five different little smaller rocks inside of that. And then if you need to break down that smaller rock even more, there you go, you got your little task that you're doing to make sure that you accomplish that. And you got to know in your schedule when you're going to do it every single week. And that's what's just so great about building a schedule. And then you would basically go through here and. And start plotting out the times of the week when you're doing these things. And another example of that here, let me actually go over to bear with me for one second. I'm going to show you one really cool graphic that is going to help you when you go through this process. All right, so let me just load it inside of Figma real quick. And I think you're going to like this because when you think about your rhythms throughout the week. All right, sweet. So the first graphic is after you start building out your schedule, you want to start thinking about your rhythm. So where all the milestones that you're creating, you want to figure out, well, when during the week am I going to do this? Am I doing it on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday? Am I doing it Thursday, Friday, Saturday? Am I doing it just on Sunday? So think about your rhythm throughout the week and you can take a screenshot or pause the video so you can really check this out. The other thing is when you have your team, when I was showing you the people ecosystem, which is right here. So we have product ecosystem. In the people ecosystem. The product and people ecosystem is going to be important because you have all the people that you work with, you know, in business, engineering, design, product, content, marketing. And you also have all the plans, the plans of what everybody's doing, the craftsmanship of what everybody's doing, the knowledge transfer, the collaboration, the communication, the clarity. Clarity. And you want to be able to really ingest how these things are working so that when you intake information, you can go and start tackling these milestones one by one. And it's just a beautiful thing to do. So that's creating schedules. And I hope you really, I hope you got something out of this little quick video about how to schedule and how to create a schedule and do it in a harmonious way, but also just to get a little bit more intentional about how you're going in and approaching your projects and challenges. So I hope you enjoyed this. And if you haven't yet subscribed to the show, please subscribe. We love having you here.
