I'm super pumped about today. Today we're talking about design productivity, something that I just really just adore, I love. It's one of the topics that I teach about inside of my other programs. And yes, double headed, let's go. I know some of you have been doing some other things today with those, with the other workshops, but today let me just ground you first in talking about productivity with your growth systems. And again, if this is your first growth group, then please just feel free to introduce yourself. All these amazing people over here in the chat have been here in previous weeks and they're starting to learn more and more. So they could probably teach Growth Day as best, better than I could when it comes to learning about the tools. So. Hello newbies. Yep, right on, right on. But today, today the big focus again. When we're thinking about building and sustaining our growth systems here, here at Growth Day, we have to really think about, well, what makes up a system? What makes a system work? And I want you to start thinking to yourself right now, well, what kind of systems do I have in my life? And maybe start thinking about those and share them in the chat. Like what are some of the systems that you currently have inside of your tool belt? Like for example, as you start thinking about these or as you start writing these in your notes, what's an agenda or what's a, what's a system that you have around? Maybe how you wake up in the morning, what's a system that you have maybe for when you cook and you clean and you maybe I'm sure all of you eat food. But like the preparation, the execution of that food, the cleanup of that food, the sharing and enjoying that food with your friends, family, loved ones. Like what are the systems you have in place for that? So it's another thing, another example of a system is your evening routines or even when you're about to go in and do some of the work for your product or for your team or for, you know, I'm a product designer, product product owner and I like to think about the systems that make up really effective and highly performing teams. They need to know what their priorities are. They need to know what their expectations are, what they need to execute. They need to know their, the what good and good high quality looks like. So all those things they make up of a system, they make up a system. So right now in your mind, what are some of the most important systems that you have in your life that you do not want to bend on, that you want to focus on? And that you know, if you can master these systems that you're going to have a very effective year, you're going to have a very effective month, and you're going to have awesome days. Let's go, let's go. So what are some examples of some of the systems that you've already put in place? I'd love to hear, I'd love to, love to see what some of your systems are. Yeah, keep those coming and please feel free to share those in the chat so that your peers can also see what kind of systems you're putting in place. Now. Okay, we got systems. Systems are really important when it comes to productivity. Right. If you don't have a system, then you can find yourself going through the motions around, like, other people's agenda. You can find yourself going through things where you're just like, I, I'm doing this work, but I don't really actually know how to optimize it, how to increase the efficiency, how to make it a little bit faster and a little bit more effective. So all those things, you know, we use systems to be able to know, like, okay, well, which ones do I need to optimize and which ones could I improve? Now, what we've already built inside of the Growth Day app, if you go to the Life Scores, this is number three on your keyboard. If you hit three on your keyboard, it will take you to the Life Score section. So here inside of the Life Score section, we have daily, weekly, and monthly scorecards. These scorecards are essentially helping you build better systems around how you monitor and benchmark your daily habits, your weekly habits, and your monthly habits. We've done all the research around, like, what kind of questions we should be asking. So to kind of save you some time, energy and helping you create better, you know, systems for yourself. These are the core, you know, 10 categories that we, that we measure on. So here, let me zoom in a little bit more for you. Now, from a systems perspective, we also have to think about, well, I have a system for measuring myself with growth day Life Scores, but do I have a system for when I need to step in to perform and I need to step in to do the things that I'm meant to do for today. How am I going to show up in those moments? How am I going to interact with the people around me, and how do I know what success looks like? I think there's three questions in themselves can help you identify a system that you might not already have, but you probably really need that will lead to higher performing and higher productivity. In your day to day operations. So, for example, you have three big things say that you want to do for the day. Those three big things for the day have, you know, they might be a part of your system, your current systems, you might not have a system already set up, but if you can time box your systems and know like, okay, this is when I'm gonna go work on these three big things. And for these three big things, I know what the priorities are for those three big things. I know who on my team I need to work with to move those things forward or what needs to get finished or executed. And then I understand like, well, what success looks like for each of those things. That way I know where the finish line is and I know when we get there how I can measure whether it's good, great, wonderful or bad. And I can actually understand those elements. So I see a question here. Yeah. So Cheryl, like, it's totally cool. I think this is a great. Cheryl had a really great comment in the chat where she hasn't yet used the measuring tools inside of Growth Day, but she likes doing it on paper with a planner. I think this is the most beautiful thing around personal development is like, you gotta find the systems and the growth habits for yourself that really help you succeed. You don't have to use exactly what we have here and exactly the way that it's designed and laid out. Like you can get a piece of paper and get a little notepad, you can use these things in any which way you want. But the idea is that when you need that consistency and when you need that, that benchmark over the long term, this is where you can come and use this as a support system for you. Because like, right, we're trying to build and sustain growth. We're trying to do it over the long term, not let's like have these like three really awesome months and then we have dips and dives for the rest of the year. Like we want to be able to sustain our growth over the entire year. And you know what, some of you I probably haven't even met yet and I should probably introduce myself 15 minutes into the end of the call. My name is Drew Bridewell. I'm head of product and design here at Growth Day. I'm, I'm just incredibly blessed to be able to work on this product, but also to be able to be here as a conduit for you so you can learn more about this tool, so you can learn more about the bells and whistles in here that are going to help you Sustain that growth over the long term, whether it's learning the tools, whether it's learning about your awesome community that you have at your fingertips to be able to ask questions, to be able to root them on for them to root you on, or whether it's like you're trying to level up even more with our live weekly coaching on Wednesdays or you're joining our Thursday calls with me, or you're attending one of our other coaches or other influencers in the space and underneath the growth groups tab where you can see all of the other topics that our strivers inside the community are talking about. So you have that at your fingertips, but you also even have the courses, which we have over 30 courses that break down, go really extensive into the platform around or actually into the personal development space. And those are things that you can just learn asynchronously on demand, whenever you really need it. But if you like having that accountability and that social interaction, then you should definitely check out growth groups and join us in these sessions because you're going to learn something along the way every day. Love it, love it, love it, love it. And also as a little tidbit, we are having a live conference. If you go to growthday.com Austin you can go see our Austin event that's coming up in the coming months. It's going to be in April. That's going to be super fire too. We have a lot of in person keynotes, but we're also really striving to be able to have other material and training resources for you about the product and tools. And we'll be able to do that in person. It'll be a lot of fun. So I hope you're ready to go for that. Let's see here, let's see. I'm just going to check through the comments and to see. Okay, we're pacing. Okay, so we're talking about systems. Does everybody have now you could say either yes in the chat or things that you're thinking about. Do you have systems in place today that help you benchmark to help? You know, like we have paper, we have pen, we have all these other things, but the systems again for execution. You can build systems not only in life scores by doing the assessments, you can also build that by going into your plan. I'm just going to help you build a system really quick. And the system is going to be for productivity. And I know that, and I know that like we're thinking about if today is the theme of productivity, we what I like to do Is think about what are the secret ingredients to building productivity? And for me here, I'm like, I'm going to call this design productivity. And the thing is, you can create notes. Y' all can create notes. And, sorry, if I could spell productivity. You can create notes and plans inside of your plan tool and reminders inside your plan tool, but you can also do that inside your notes that you're also experiencing inside of the growth group. So when I think of design productivity and I'm thinking about, you know, the way that you design productivity into your life, the way that you design it, like, you architect it, I think about the system. So the first thing that I would need to do is like, okay, what systems do I need to put in place? And the first things that I need to do around the systems is I need a. My rituals, my routines, the habits I'm going to focus on. I need my priorities, I need my plans, I need my resources. So who am I going to get to get support on with my resources? Rituals, routines, habits, priorities, plans. And then I need a high dose of intention. So if I get all these things together for my systems, I know that I can fill in the gaps and make sure, okay, I have rituals for X, Y and Z. I have routines for X, Y and Z, like, you know, cooking, cleaning, whatever. I have habits that I want to practice that are like, you know, the high performance habits that I know it's going to hold me accountable, keep me honest, keep me, like, focused on things that actually will move the needle so I can be a better person and enjoy that. I really enjoy that process of growth. I also need to be able to understand my priorities, like a to Z, 1 to 10. What are the top things? I need to be focused on my plans to actually execute those 10 things, like, what are my plans and where do they fit into my processes, my resources? Who and what and why? And how am I going to actually make this happen? Who am I going to ask for help? Where am I going to learn? And then what is the power? What is this intention behind all these things? So this is just like initial system. I could set a reminder for this and I could say, I want to get reminded about this every day for the next 30 days so I can really dive into each one of these items. So I could do that daily and I could say at 1pm the same time here. Now, just like that, you have an example of a system that you already put in place. And I'm gonna get reminded about this every single day at 1pm and I just, you know, I have a start time and end time for this. Or I could, you know, that was for another plan I could do. I can just change these things to anything that I want and if I minus it down a little bit, you can see my daily plan. This is just like straight system thinking, right? So I got my systems down. This is one example of how you can create a system inside of the tool. Second thing that I like to think about is craftsmanship. So what is craftsmanship to y' all and what is it to me in this, in this vein? And today I'm going to talk about it as a craftsmanship is the quality of your output. And you know, what we like to say even in our trainings is like, we want prolific output. We don't want to just like, oh yeah, this week I'm doing A, B and C. Like I want to be like, what am I going to stretch in this week? What am I going to push harder on this week? And what's the quality of that? It's not about doing more work, it's about doing quality work, like how you get these things done. But it's not only about getting good quality work done. It's about how you move and interact with your friends, with your family, with your loved ones, with your team, with your manager, with the people you want to support and contribute to society and your community. How are you as a collaborator? How are you as a communicator? How are you as you execute these things? How are you being thoughtful and mindful of what your team needs and what they desire? Like craftsmanship. You know, I love craftsmanship. And a little quick recipe for craftsmanship is thinking about the people and the processes and the quality bar and the, and the timelines. So these four things are really impactful when you think about craftsmanship. Like what people are involved, how are they involved, what do they, what plans do they have? How do they share knowledge? What kind of challenges and skill gaps do they have? You know, from a process perspective, like there's so many different processes for any given system. What is the process of executing these things? You know, in product design we have like a zero to one workflows of like ideating, wireframing, going through, decision making, building things. But like think about your processes and things that you do and think about how you can organize those and then level up your quality bar. So the quality bar is like, what's good, what's great, what's amazing, what's world class, what's next level and getting to A baseline of what those things are. You can also do that for any of your plans and any of your things in your, in your tool. Like what are, what is your quality bar? And the timelines are important because if you don't have due dates to things then it's going to be kind of challenging. I going to change my date here. I'll do this at the end of the month. If you don't have deadlines or due dates to the things that you're trying to move forward, it can be really challenging to actually get those things done right. We got to have some deadlines. Oh, for the differences. Okay, this is a really good question. Audrey had a question about the difference between rituals and routines. For me they are very alike. But let's actually here and I got one more. So I'll just do rituals and just so I can write it out and, and explain this. So rituals are kind of like these moments that you put in place and you don't want to have like 100 rituals. It's. It kind of devalues the moment. The magical moment that you create with a ritual. And a ritual could be like as a family we have ginger tea and ginger brews in the evening time. And when we start making those ginger brews, that's the time where we're starting to chill out, we're starting to relax our bodies. We're trying to, to you know, like little the food that we ate, digest, calm, cool, collected. That's a ritual for us. Like it's a family ritual. We do that. Another ritual might be like you wake up and you have a ritual of getting your favorite drink and then starting your favorite writing exercise in the morning. That could be a ritual for you. You have a ritual for you know, like, like these magic moments that you really look forward to. And then for team wise, we have like Friday shout outs. Friday shout out ritual is something we put in early on to celebrate the team, get them excited about, you know, celebrating each other's work. It's a beautiful thing to have a celebration. So thinking about how you make those into rituals for your family, for your friends, for your team, it helps create a sense of consistency and the things that you do so that you can really, you know, celebrate those wins, integrate those wins, give feedback to your team, different things like that, that's example of a ritual. A routine is a system that you put in place to execute a series of events. So it's similar to like a system but like a routine would be like a morning routine. Like I have Four or five consecutive things that I do. And when I wake up, I do this, I do this, I do this, I do this. That's like more of a routine or an evening routine or a routine that you have for your team. Like, okay, we. This development product life cycle. The routine is that you make sure that you hit all these different windows during the product development life cycle. That's a routine. It's something you do, and it's a part of a bigger system. So that's how I like to think about it. I hope it was helpful if your question from Cheryl around the product. Are there tool. Are the tools the same whether you're on phone or app? They are exactly the same. Now, you will notice that because of real estate, because of real estate, different things will look a little different. But overall, it's our goal and objective as a product organization to bring consistency when you're on desktop or web or, I'm sorry, desktop or mobile phone. And if you do find any quirky bugs or any issues, just please report them. You can shake your phone, you can turn that on in the settings and shake it for feedback, or you can just come and hit 8 on your keyboard and give us the feedback on the desktop and we'll ask you a few questions. But that should do it. Okay, cool. So we talked about, like, rituals, routines a little bit, but I'm just gonna remove this because the third topic here, I'll just put ritual routines. I'll put that in. The third thing that I want you to think about when you are thinking about productivity and building your systems is what I would call velocity management. Now, totally geek on this, but velocity management is thinking about the speed, efficiency, the. The skill level, the speed efficiency, skill level, and how you get things done and dial it up or dial it down. So when I say dial it up or dial it down, let's just be real for a second and say, like, okay, we're in. We're in February. We've already about 46 days into the new year, and we have probably identified some areas of opportunities for us from last year about what we could do to get better. We have those list of things and, you know, maybe feedback from our family or things for ourselves we know we want to get better at. And we have the opportunity right now to decide do we want to increase our attention, our focus, our details to make that, like, to really get that moving and get that moving. Like, just like, I'm in it, like, I know what I need to improve on. And do we understand when we kind of probably need to dial it down a little bit. Like we are going to have a big busy week. Like for example, like when I got my oral surgery, like I went ahead and recorded like my content for the week ahead of my schedule. Because after I got my oral, like I got a tooth removed, I was in so much pain and I didn't realize how much pain I was going to be in until after the thing. And I'm still feeling soreness from it. But I knew my velocity might go down a little bit after that event. So I was able to record and do things and give myself some grace during that time. But like velocity management is just being aware of when you need to amp it up or slow it down and how you want to move within the systems that you're surrounded on your team, your people. And I think this is just good to be aware of this in your velocity when you need to ramp it up or ramp it down depending on what your team needs, what your family needs and support systems that you have something to keep in mind. Ah yes. So there are some limitations to growth groups today, but we are planning on opening this up so that if you do have a growth group hosting plan, which will be releasing a new hosting plan very soon, what this will allow you to do is have one on one coaching sessions inside of the growth day platform. But you will have to subscribe to a hosting plan for growth groups. This is if you want to facilitate sessions like I'm doing right now with you. And you can do this for your groups and your connections and your influencer like people that you influence and that you support as well. And that will be coming. But as of right now, if you want to host a growth group, you have to have at least three people in that growth group. So I hope that was helpful as well. All right, cool. So we talked about systems craftsmanship, velocity management. This is all inside the plan. I can get right on. So these things are example of what you can do when it comes to setting a system of growth. Right now when we think about productivity, there's a lot of other ways to be productive and learn. And one thing that I really like to do to be more productive is I like to create more awareness. And for me to create more awareness, I need to be thinking about the things that are focused or that important. So what I like to do is I like to go to my journal and in my journal I like to think about like if I'm having a meeting with somebody, like I had a couple meetings this Morning. And in these meetings, I'm writing out what I'm seeing, what I'm hearing, what I'm feeling inside of this meeting, inside my journal. And right after that journal or after that meeting, I have about 5, 10 minutes before my next session. I'm reflecting, thinking back what happened, what could have been better, what do I need, what actions I need to take from this meeting. And I'm thinking about all those little things, right? But the power of having this inside of the Growth day app is you can be able to track back to your journal and see the dates and the times and the things that you are actually doing so that you're in a state of awareness and raising your intentionality for the things that you're doing. So I love the journal for that. I'm not going to go to my journal because it will show some of my journal entries and I just don't want to do that today. But I want to encourage you. When you're thinking about your systems, you can tap in, create more awareness with your journal and then do a life score right after that. So you can capture that benchmark or you can do a little bit of a journal plan action or a journal life score action. I really think like going through like two or three of these at a time. Like if you tap in and you're doing a check in with growth day, check in and do like two or three actions and see what that does. Every time you check in and do those actions, it will help you build more momentum because you're not only building a plan for the things that you need to do in a tackle, but you're also getting some benchmarking in and you're also doing some reflection and journaling, which, you know, journaling and reflecting and writing these things down. The research is there and the research shows that this will help you become more productive. It will help you lead to a more well being and more aware sense of self and that can lead to a higher performing individual. So I want to encourage you to take those moments and just do it like two or three things at a time. You can also tag team that with a daily fire in the morning. So let's just say you come into the app and when we're talking about routines, like you can come into the app and do a daily fire and then you can come in at the same time because the app is continuous. Whatever you're inside of the growth group right now, you can be doing that simultaneously while you're learning, while you're watching things, while you know, when you're watching a course, you can be going in and journaling while you're watching a course or while you're journaling you could be watching a course. Like it just, it's all interchangeably and all can be happen while you're in the tool, which is really helpful. Okay, so today we don't have multiple daily life. So the daily life scores are just one a day. So whether you do them in the morning or in the evening, it just pick a time that you know, works for you. I like to do mine either early in the morning and set my. This is, this is how I'm gonna show up today or I'll do it like after, after, you know, full evening around 7 or 8 o'. Clock. Do a quick one before I start winding down and getting ready for bed. Same things. Weekly reviews are really good to do on like Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays. But I would say like, you know, find the times where you just feel the best and come in here and you know, this is, this is a point where you get to build your growth systems. You get to build the things that are going to support you. And you know, it gives you a time to check in on how you're progressing and you know, don't beat yourself up over the things when you got low scores or when you're not feeling, you're advancing. It's, this is a long game here, you know, 1% better every week. That's really what we're striving for. We're not really trying to have this, you know, burnout culture and you know, this other environment that really stresses people out. We don't want to stress people out, we don't stress you out, we don't stress our teams out. We want to build the world's best, best growth product and the best growth system in a beautiful harmonic way. So I just want to encourage you all to be sharing feedback as you get it and let us know what we can do to improve it and we'll make sure that happens. Let's go. Alright, so we talked about a little bit about different ways and you can habit stack some of these things and do these things together. What are some other things that you can do inside the tool that are going to really help elevate your productivity? And I'm going to head over to the courses section. There's a couple courses in here that I don't know if you've really tapped into these yet because we might not have had that conversation yet. But one of the things That I really encourage people when they first come into the platform is to build a development plan and a growth plan for learning. And just this week, I've kicked off with my team the top core objectives of the business, the top core things that I want them to consider. There's like, top 10 things that I want them to consider as they develop and design their personal development plan for this next half. And the thing is, like, I'm sure you have a lot of really exciting things that you want to take on this year, and I'm sure you have a lot of things that you're like, where do I start and who's going to help me do this? And, you know, just a lot of questions. The best thing to do is to pair those big initiatives and big dreams and big ambitions that you have with a development plan side by side. So you got all these goals, these ambitions, these great things on one hand. This other hand needs to be a development plan. And I know if you checked out some of my old videos around growth loops, I teach you how to build and design your own growth loop. So I definitely encourage you to check out those videos if you want to tap into that. If you don't, it's totally fine. But the simple thing that I take away from this is when you have all your goals, you got to have a development plan so that when you're growing and you're taking on these things, you actually can be leveling up in other areas of your life. And one really good way to do that is with this high performance habit builder course. This course is fire. Not only because Brennan, like, really just takes his time through each video and explains every single detail of his research and what it takes to build clarity, what it takes to build energy, what it takes to build necessity, what it takes to build productivity, what it takes to build influence. Encourage, encourage. Down here. So there's all these different videos and resources, and this is available with the starter membership of the platform. So it's like, like included. It was like a $300 course, you know, years ago. And it's probably more like the value of this is just Spartan on. It's so. It's so incredible. So using this as a, as a tool for you to come in and take notes and grow. Like, you could watch this every year or you could rewatch and listen to the, the actual Habits Builder audio, which if you scroll down to courses, you can scroll down the very bottom and see all the courses. You can filter this by audio, filter this by different types of content or by, you know, video or audio in there and then you can see all the other previous courses and then we do keep track of those by these little progress bars, just so you know, like, okay, I'm working through this, I'm working through this one and you know, there's just so much to learn. But this is how you, you know, this is how you grow those systems for yourself and you can get better at it every single, you know, time you go through the course. Like even I'm sure you all have read through like different books in your life and then you read them again and you're like, oh my gosh, so many new things. I think growth day is the same way. You're going to hear a lot of perspectives from a lot of different coaches about different topics, like example here, mindset, resilience, relationships, friendships, all these different things. But like every time you go through, you're gonna get another level of perspective because you're probably in a different place in your life. And I think that's another beautiful thing about this is having the ability to just grow depending on where you're currently at in your journey, in your destination. So let's go, let's do it. Oh, nice, nice, nice. I'm just checking in the chat here. I love, love this power of intention with Wayne is. Wayne Dyer is really amazing. So just as you know, if this is your first time when you do come course we have timestamp notes. So as you start taking notes you will get a little time stamps of what it is. I can't watch the video while we're in a growth group. There is, we've set up some logic that doesn't allow that. But you can come in here and take notes and timestamps and also see what other people in the community are talking about within this platform. Alright? Yeah. So as far as the Growth Loop videos, if you wanted to actually see this, I'm gonna show you a really quick way you can go to community. So after you go to the community, this is how you're gonna find all of my old posts. So you can come over to search at the very top. So you hit search and then you can type Drew Bridewell and you could see all the previous things that I posted. But if I just go into, let me just see. I know I have a couple accounts here. I think it's this one, the one with my blue background here I have 59 posts and if you can tap into that, you can actually go through and see all of my past replays where I'll teach you every single thing about this application. And it's just like super deep. And let me see, practice, practice, practice. Here's the one where I was talking about growth loops. So I'll just tap into that and send you the link here. I can share that, copy it, and there you go. Let me know if that link. I mean, I know the links don't show up hyperlinks, so just copy and paste it into your notes. But then you can watch it here as well. Copy, link, address, boom, no problem. So that's another way you can leverage the community to be able to come into the tool. Awesome. So what I want to do now is we have about 19 minutes left and I'm going to come back to you all. I'm going to stop sharing my screen and I want to take questions, I want to make sure that we, we have plenty of time for questions about anything that I was talking about with systems craftsmanship, velocity management, if you have questions about that or if you have questions about the tool. Because I want to make sure. We're always getting a little bit of training, but you're also getting education about the product and tool. So what are top things that you have currently that maybe you're working towards? You're trying to build better systems and you're maybe getting stuck, you're maybe getting, or you feel like you're like maybe even plateauing a little bit or any of those other, you know, any challenges that you're facing. No problem, no problem, no problem. But I just want to make sure that this is a safe space, like open door. Questions, comments, anything that you need. I also, I'd be just happy to talk about anything that we have also that's going on in the product or future things or if you have questions. So anything on your mind? Audrey had a question around trying to be more efficient or trying to, you know, the thought of being more efficient. When you're planning weekly, monthly and quarterly, I think the biggest challenge when you have to think about planning out these big giant rocks across or the big things that you want to achieve over a weekly, quarterly, monthly basis, it's thinking about those things that I was coming back to earlier around your priorities in your life and having clarity around what it is that you want to do and why it's important. So, you know, in my first, in the first month where we started these, like this series, I was talking about clarity, and Brendan has a really great course on clarity. But these, there's six things that I typically go back to Every time, I need to build clarity and connect to it at a deeper level. And this clarity is going to actually impact how I do the planning for my weekly, quarterly, and monthly goals. Because I want to make sure that I'm living and performing in congruency with my values and my principles and the things that matter most to me. So an example is that I need to know when I'm building clarity. I need to know what my. At the deepest level, I need to know what kind of identity I want to associate to who, how do I want to be in this moment? How do I want to present myself? Second thing that I want to be able to do is I want to know how I want to interact with other people. I want to know, like, do I want to be joyful, courageous, focused, intentional? Like, what's my. What's my creative, you know, what is the word? What is the thing? The third thing that I need to do is I need to be able to think about how. How I know and what looks like and what feels like success that way. When I'm envisioning these projects and these weekly milestones, these month milestones, these quarterly milestones, what does success look like? What does it look like at the end of the tunnel? When we reach that milestone, we come plopping in the mountain of success. What is it and how is it fulfilling? I want to know those things. Then I need to know priorities, A to Z. I need to know the opportunities, so all the things that I'm not very good at, I need to improve or the things that my growth initiatives, essentially. And then I need to know my purpose. Like, I need to have all six of those things dialed in, focused. So when I'm going in and doing my planning that I have a really clear idea of how I'm gonna. How I'm gonna show up through those moments. I do that by having a very holistic view of goals. So I have personal project, career, and passion goals. And then I use my action planning framework to be able to go through and take those big, giant rocks, put them into smaller rocks, put them in actionable, meaningful actions that can pursue. And that's what I typically call action planning. But I think, like, when you're going through and you're trying to build very efficient systems, you got to dial in yourself first so that when you know, when you step in to do that work, like, you know, whether you get to throttle it up or down based on your ambition and what you're capable of, and you'll get more capable the more you experience things and the more projects you take on and the more people you work with. But I think in like, what's really helped me is just going through and learning the systems, not only for myself, but learning the systems of my team, of their, what they need to do to be successful. Like the engineers, the product managers, designers, everybody learning the systems and you know, whatever company or team that you're working for, like, learn the systems that they have. That way when you optimize yourself to perform in that environment, you're optimized, you're ready to go, like, you know, you know, you know where you're going to have the most impact. I think it's a really healthy way to start at a foundation, build a foundation and then work through being more efficient with your plans. And then I do like to keep plans super high level and not be so granular on, like, you know, you need to go and break down plans to a very micro level for certain things, but you also need to think about like the windows of time that you have. And, you know, some things you just don't have to write down, but some things you do need to write down. You need that intention, you need that planning, you know, the execution. And I know one of my, one of my teammates here is, is like probably absolutely like, you know, big giant project right now. So thinking about breaking those things down and making sure nothing is missed, it's just, it's just a critical, important thing. I'm gonna read one of the comments coming in, but definitely keep the, the questions coming and if this is helpful, like, just let's keep the flow going here. Let's see here. So impulses, I think it's just like the first step, the first step for an impulse that you might have around, like, you know, wanting to work or wanting to not work, working out or not wanting to work out. Doing something that you're consciously aware of, that you probably shouldn't do, but you do it because it maybe is out of habit or out of regimen or recipe. I think the first step of all this is one having like just awareness that you're doing it and that, you know, if it feels like monkey brain syndrome, I don't even know if that's like an actual thing, but monkey brain syndrome, I don't, I don't know, but it's being, bringing awareness to that thing and maybe writing about like the feelings and thoughts and feelings prior to you doing that. So maybe going in a journal and be like, why do I, right before I start, want to Work out, like really ask that question and be like, what is blocking me from pursuing the thing that I want to pursue? And when I'm blocked for that thing, do I have a connection to my necessity or to my purpose? And this can also, it can seem kind of wishy washy but like if you are wanting to work out in the mornings or in the evenings and you want to make sure that you do it because you feel amazing after you do it, you know, what is the trigger or the thing that's blocking you from actually doing that work? And is it a time frame thing? Is it a, a resource and allocation problem? Is it a you don't have the energy to do it or you don't have a trigger mechanism before you step into that workout that's going to help you make sure that you do the workout. So it's like really analyzing the before, the during and the after emotions, thoughts, feelings, emotions of when you go through that. And then you can come back and be like, let's retrain that trigger. Let's retrain that thing that happens before I do it so that I'm setting myself up to not do it. You can do that with other ways, like accountability partners, having somebody schedule call you and say let's, let's do this at the same time. Or you know, just telling yourself from a necessity perspective, like I need to work out because it makes me feel 10 times better and I'm going to do this. So it's like that accountability. So you could get accountability, coach, get other things. But you know, but try not to do it all by yourself. If you're on a new initiative and it's hard right now, get some support, get some encouragement, you know, find some accountability partners to help you move through some of these challenges. Like same thing like when I was in sports early on, when I was in sports early on, like you get into this regimen of training with a team and because you are in with a team, you have the accountability to show up and not be late, be there early, do the work, get, get the results. But as you know you grow, you grow out of being in a sports environment. You have to take a lot of those regimens and stay true to that. And that's something that I like. Once my son was born, I was spending more time playing and doing all these like activities, but I took a less, I put more energy into that playtime and less energy into like my workout time. So now that he's older and has a lot of goals and pursuits and things that he wants to do now. It's like reigniting those workout regimens that I like, that I'm used to and that I really love and that I want to do, but doing it in a way that feels good to me, like where I feel, you know, healthy, strong. But I'm not like, you know, I'm not trying to be a bodybuilder. It's not my thing. There's things that I do beginning of working. You know, there's this thing about project kickoffs that I absolutely love. And the thing about project kickoffs is that we typically do not work, work on projects by ourself, right? We work on projects with teams, with people and thinking about like what I like to do before I start working on a project. But the four things that I really like to do for project kickoffs is I like to establish an understanding of who is going to be going along for the ride, like who's going to be on the team, like establish like a norms of people of their needs. Then I like to understand like the people, the processes and the specific project initiatives that in the purpose of those things. So right, we have the establish of who's going to be involved and then we need to understand the people, the processes and all the things that we're going to do to make this, make this actually work and tick. And then the third thing we need to do is be able to think about how we're going to practice as a team as we go through and like what's our schedules, what's our ways of giving feedback, what's our ways to learn to thrive and develop the team along the way. And then the fourth thing that we really need to set up a team for success is we need to be able to have a reflection practice in place where we can hold each other accountable, we can lift each other up when they need it and we can stop and reduce the like bad habits that conform when you don't have these three or four things in check. So I have this like workshop that I'm going to show you really quick. And this is, this whole workshop is about like setting expectations with your teams and getting to know like you know that building better teams and better project kickoffs takes time. Like it is a time intensive thing that you have to be, be able to adapt with your crew, be able to learn from, from their operations and like just be graceful with like that. Even if you are going to kick off a new project next week or a new initiative that you have, you have to give yourself grace for the amount of people that are going to be included in this. But the thing is like, is it worth your time, Is it worth your time to get to know your team, to get to know what they need, to get to know their, you know, all the bells and whistles about their strengths, weaknesses? Is it, do you think it is? Or would you rather have some of these things you see in these bubbles? There's people like getting rowdy inside of these shelves. But I like to think that better teams helps lead to better meetings, faster execution, reducing churn so people don't leave your team or project. Creating purposeful work, healthy debates and fun. This is a really important part of growth. But why wouldn't people want to invest in their team? It's a lot of work because if you think about the groundworks of a team and what you're trying to achieve, you have a, a lot of different layers, right? And think about the layers of the earth. You have crust and upper mantle, mantle, outer core, and you have the inner core. So there's a lot of different levels to teams as well. When you're working with a product team, for example, teams have this very high need for psychological safety. So they can communicate safely, they can communicate without feeling, like, judged. They can communicate their fears and, you know, other things like, we gotta know the dependability of the team. We need to know awareness, clarity, trust, purpose. We have to have all these foundations for the team because when you're building new projects and new services, you have to think about, like, the goal isn't to just go from zero to one. You have to reduce the uncertainty and the misunderstandings that are happening in your team, your projects, your, the way you're working through things. And that's really like, where I like to focus. And that's really just one commonality that we all, that we all kind of go through and we share for every project. So, you know, there's, there's a lot of things to that. And I'll come back to you right now, but whoo, man, that presentation keynote is about, like helping kick teams off. So. So I'd give that to like, you know, hundred hundreds of teams in the setting and then they go work on themselves together. And I think it's just a good reminder, like, we all are going through project work and we need to be able to think through how to not just create a better outcome. We need to create a better system to support the people involved in the pursuit. Like, support the people and the routines and the habits to sustain a healthy environment as you move through a project and you go through that destination. I think that's a beautiful thing. And we're all doing that together today in the Growth Day app, which is pretty awesome. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out on the on the community. I will be posting the replay to this content up pretty soon, probably this weekend, and I just wanted to thank you all for attending, for showing up and for putting in the learning effort to grow today. If you enjoyed this session, I also want to encourage you to share this session with a friend or somebody else that you think could get value from hanging out with us every week. We'll do this on Thursdays. We have another four weeks of this series and next week we're going to be talking about design impact. And I think you'll find this interesting because design impact is like one of those things. Well, how do you know the things that you're architecting and designing are actually having impact for the, the people around you or, you know, the teams or this, the companies that you're building? I think it's like, it's so much fun being here with y' all and we're building some really awesome things too that will be seeing, you'll be seeing in the coming releases of the Growth Day app. But again, leave us the feedback, let us know what you think could be improved and also just share, share and get more people in us. And also if you even have even more bandwidth, then if you could leave some feedback on our app store so we can get more feedback in the or, you know, more reviews inside the App Store and also just have an awesome day. I'll see you in the next one. Alright, later.
