Design with us - Episode 4 - Player Experience - Part 2

Drew Bridewell and Jude design the first-time player experience for Roller World, a multiplayer rollerblading game. They map out onboarding screens, clan selection, starter pets, weapons like grappling hooks and ninja stars, and abilities including speed boosts and time-freeze. They sketch controls for desktop and mobile, then plan next steps: defining game logic, speeds, and Roblox design practices.
Chapters
All right, I think we're back now.
Okay, Are we back? Hopefully. Hopefully.
Yeah, we're back. Oh, the drawing scene. Screen cap. Hey, sorry about that. Looked like the. The stream had frozen. So not really sure why that happened. But we're going to pick it up where we left off. So where we left off was we had essentially designed this. We had started this kind of the first time experience when they come into this experience. And we welcome screen. We have a loading to excite the gamer and to introduce the narrative. So let me screen cap this so you can see what I'm talking about here.
It's not working. It's not working, I don't think.
Is it back?
No.
So I'm just going to refresh that. There we go. All right, so we're back and I'm just gonna keep going. And you know what I'll do just in case, like I'll just record this and if for some reason. All right, let me just do new recording. So we're just going to record this too just to make sure that if for some reason we have this recorded and we can always get back to it later. So what I was thinking was, you know, a part of the narrative, there's a scene and then there's some like areas where they can read and then probably like a button to continue. And that's just like, you know, high, super high level. So the purpose of this is to introduce the story a bit more, plus introduce the elements, elements of the Game of Roller World. So maybe this Jude talks about the things that you're going to be able to do in the game. So as you're kind of, you have five maybe clicks that you get to understand the game and then you also can kind of get these like rewards as you just start learning about it.
Yeah.
Okay, so that's one. And maybe there's. Here, I'll just do like, let's just copy this and then we have like another one. And then, you know, I'm just gonna like scene three, Scene two. I'm gonna put scene two up here. Scene three. Do you know if it's actually still going? Jude, I'm not sure what you're up to right now.
Yeah, here it is. Left.
Okay.
And good thing we're not having that much string delay.
Oh, good.
Epic.
Perfect. So now that we have that, we introduce this like another scene and you know, maybe that. Maybe it's like a different layout where you have let me just period of line. Left, left, left. Cool. So we have like our other parts of the story right there. And then this could be just whatever really, like these are just images and content to help the story. And they can click next or they could go back if they wanted to go back to the previous thing. And then we have another one that's going to talk about this one could introduce like deep in the dark roller world, there's amazing things happening. And people have learned to depend on their rollerblades to get from point A to point Z. And. Go ahead.
I just had a really good idea.
Tell it in the mic, bro.
Okay.
Lay it on us. Lay it on us.
So we're gonna, we can make it where there's like tribes like the fire tribe or like just like tribes like that. And if you pick your tribe, like the fire tribe, like fire comes out of your roller skates and like you can use like fire moves, like maybe like that.
Okay. So if we do a tribe thing, which is. Sounds cool, there would have to be. There would have to be multiple stories and then you. There. We'd have to build out those narratives, which totally. We can totally do. Jude. So if there was four different tribes, maybe like Fire, Water, Water, Air, Air and Earth.
Fire, Water.
And then maybe there's another one that's like. I was gonna say energy, but maybe the energy is all of them. So they have these. That means there would be. We could map these to the world. So we could have four different worlds where you get to experience these things and then you pick which one you want and then you get to build your character. And I think it might be kind of cool like if this say like this little area right here was where your. So you have a story, but this is like maybe the stage where you're building your character first. So you get some things first, like some basic setup. Yeah, but this would be where you, you see your. You see yourself. And then you say you chose like that you wanted to be a Fire. Fire, Fire, Fire tribe. And obviously, like this is super duper high level. We will go in here and bring it to the fidelity, like probably off the live stream because it's going to. We're going to be probably a little bit more particular and detailed about what we're creating. But that's just, you know, this is a concept, this is a story. Like we'll be able to change it if it doesn't feel right. And that's the beautiful thing about iteration and about prototyping these things out. If we would, if we would go in here and spend like hours on just one screen. Jude and Then realize we want to change our mind.
Just be sad.
It would be sad, right? Yeah.
Welcome to the live stream.
Yeah. So, hey, welcome, welcome, welcome. Eunice, thanks for joining us. We did. We did have another live stream that was going and it just froze on us. But hey, that's what technology does sometimes. So we're back. So this is part two.
Part two.
And we have about 30 minutes left. So we're just basically storyboarding out the experience, so. And this would be the first time experience, which is exciting.
Oh, yeah.
So let me just make this white and I'm going to do some. All right, cool. So we have our first time experience. We're working through it. You get introduced to the story and some type of video or animated thing. You get to choose your tribe.
Choose your tribe. Or should it be like, I feel like we should change the name of tribe.
What would it be?
I just don't feel like tribe's like, very good. Yeah, Clan.
How about squad?
Yeah, no, Clan.
Yeah, Clan.
Yeah, clan.
Okay. So you choose your clan.
I like that. I like that.
And then you pick from the list. And then essentially then you see yourself. You see yourself. And then you see like your, your fire clan. And then we, you know, some more graphics. And then from there what we need to do. I'm going to copy this from there. What we're going to do is then you start to. You get to start customizing the four different elements.
Yeah. Cool.
So we kind of introduce you to your pets and maybe at this point, we don't let them pick those things. We just let them know. Pets, accessories. What were the other ones?
Gear.
Gear. Outfits.
Yeah, let's go outfits.
And I actually don't mind in this game. And this is just my current thinking. June, you can definitely chime in if you think something doesn't make sense. Yeah. The clans could definitely be colors. But tell us more what you're thinking. Max GTM220 and tell us why you think the clans could be colors instead of elements and then we'll kind of have a fun conversation about it. All right, so close.
Yeah, we'll make like different outfit.
Clothes would be inside of outfits, but go ahead.
Like the clan, like say fire tribe. It would be like red, red, red clothing.
Right. Well, I, I almost think that the. The tribes maybe similar to in Naruto where they have the little symbols. We could make four different symbols for each of these. So then when you're in the game, you know what kind of clan that you picked up. Do you like that?
Yes. And like, in the thing, we can make it like, would you like to wear your. Your. Your clan's headband?
Yeah. So awesome. Let's just find a little quick graphic for. We're just gonna do a little. We'll fill that so that. That's the. Even though that's, like, has nothing to do with it, we're just filling it in for fun. I'm gonna move that out of the way. So you have your Fire Clan, you have your different elements that you have. Right. So that's cool. You can get introduced to it. And then in scene four, now that you're ready and maybe you've picked. Actually, I think so. Each one of these, Jude, could have. Bear with me for a second. All right, so if this is.
Pets, pick your pet.
All right. So sometimes when I design, I get kind of quiet. So Judah, if you want to narrate for me.
So what about symbols on the clothing hands? I mean, yes, we could do that, but we could make, like, an option on the screen. Like, would you like to wear your tribe's clothing? Or would you like to wear your tribe's headband?
Mm.
Will you do like that? Yeah. Epic idea.
Yeah. So I'm just, like, quickly drawing a little carousel where you would be able to, like, kind of click through the. The different pets. And this same. The same elements could be.
Oh, yeah. Like, you gonna pick the starter pet.
Yeah, kind of like, there's like a. Like, kind of like in. In Pokemon where you get to choose Pokemon.
Pick your first pet.
Yeah, I kind of like that.
We could put, like, our voice lines in the game.
Tell me more.
I could go like, narrator. Like, pick your first pet.
Do games have.
Yeah, people do that sometimes.
I think that would be fine.
Yeah.
Cool. That's really cool. So here would be where you could pick your first, you know, your different pets. There are different shapes and sizes.
Shapes and sizes, colors and more.
So boom.
Welcome to the stream, everyone.
Yeah, so thanks so much for joining, everybody. And if you are enjoying this, then definitely like it. Subscribe.
We need one more subscriber to 40 to get 140.
Sure. Yeah.
Guys, do it, do it, do it.
So this would be maybe where you pick your pet?
Yeah, it will be kind of like a simulator, basically, but it'll be better than any simulator you've ever seen.
So you're here, Jude. So if you click pets, you would end up here to pick your pet. If you clicked outfits, you would have a different set for outfits. So this is scene five is pick your pets. And so this Is like the onboarding experience, you guys. So onboarding means like the first time experience somebody's getting into the tool.
Yeah.
And then what we'll be able to do in the interface is we'll be able to leverage these screens. So when you're in the product or when you're in the game, you also get to experience this. It just won't be like, you know, if the core experience is you have your chat.
Your chat chats in the top.
Well, I saw in the bottom left of your last game missed, and I actually liked it down there.
Oh yeah, I did do that.
So this would be like your locker, maybe your. Your items, your core items.
I still think it should be up there.
Okay. You used to it up there.
Yeah.
Okay, we can test that. Like test. And then, and then what I'm thinking here is there.
Oops. So it's kind of like. Oh yeah, I get it. Kind of like in fishing simulator.
Yeah. So you have your, your tools, your core elements where you can quickly toggle between your different outfits and change things. Or like your weapons, your keyboard shortcuts. Right. And then you have the game experience inside the middle.
Yeah. And definitely. So there's this game I play with. It's kind of like this, but like they have like your abilities. But they have so many abilities that it's like hard to like, yum. That it's hard to do anything because there's just so many like buttons that you have to press and it's so annoying.
Can you. Can you share an example?
Like when you're so basically like moves, like you press Z to do your move. Bam. That's cool. And then Z, X, C, V, E.
N. Do you think the bottom of the keyboard should be where like the. Yes, this is where the. The key should be.
Or like Q, E. Just like the easy ones.
So Z. I want to write this down because. So Z, X, C, V, B.
No, no, wait. I'm not saying do all this. Okay. So your main keybinds, it's kind of like the main things that you're gonna do is Q E. I'll just make that cap Q.
Well, W S or W D. Those help you go up and forward and backward. Right? W, A, S, D. What is sd? S goes backwards.
Yeah. S backwards. W forward. A dababy. You get that thing.
Okay, so that means. That means that you're trying to keep the keys close to the forward and backward movement already.
Q, E. Yeah, I want to make it easy for them. Like we're saying on Q, like Fire Jutsu. E and V is like shadow.
Let me want to make it easy.
For, like, the hand.
Okay.
The person like that. We also want to think of it for, like. For, like, phone users. We could just make it where, like, you tap, tap, tap, bam.
Okay.
Okay. That. Okay. So Qev. Can we move that? Okay. F. We could do like.
Well, this could be the core.
Yeah, you know, those could be it. But.
Okay, so what we'll have to do next is we will define each of these. So I'm just going to put line break. And then our homework, Jude, will be to answer what each of these elements will do. And then we'll also need to figure out the speed and the mechanism when you're changing things and how fast, like, what feels good when you're changing it. And if we can't do keyboard shortcuts inside of Figma, we can use InVision Studio to do keyboard shortcuts for the prototype.
Yeah. And definitely with the qevf, we can make it where the user gets like, huh? What? What? Where should my Rasengan go? I'll put Rasengan in Q. And I'll put my Fire Jutsu.
Oh, you think they should be able to pick?
Yeah, they should definitely get a pick. Okay, that would make it like a hundred.
So it's like powers.
Oh, wait, actually. And like, if you click click is punch. Or like, should we click punch and left. Right click can be click on the other side is right click is kick. Could be like kick.
Well, and then spacebar is jump.
Yes.
Because you're gonna need to be able to jump on these roller space bars.
Always jump. Always space, more space.
Ah, okay, There we go. There we go. So we'll figure out these other ones. Shoots. I want you to start if you want to think about E, V, and F, if you know what they would be. I'm going to keep pushing forward. We have 18 minutes left of our show today. And again, if you're enjoying this, then definitely like it. Tell us what you like about the show. If you think it could be better than. Then definitely let us know what we could do to make it better.
Water break.
Jude's gonna get a water break. I'm gonna keep pushing through and. Oh, real quick. One of the things I wanted to show you was. Oh, it looks like our drawing camera is actually has a. A little freeze. So that is so weird. I wanted to show that to y' all here. We'll do it this way. So this is a really cool comic book. And. And if you haven't Checked this out. It has, like, a really nice storytelling effect where you have cool animations. Cool animations, cool sketches. It's kind of. And this one's all about, like, just explaining, like, television and technology. But as far as our story goes, this is what we were thinking as far as, like, trying to bring in this type of storytelling into the game. And. And we think it could be a lot of fun.
Yeah, we're gonna make it, like, good like that.
Yeah, we can make it really good like that. Good. How about I have.
Boom.
All right, cool. So let's get back to this game. All right. And then in a little bit, we're gonna jump into our reflections and the learning lessons of the week. But let's just keep pushing through. So cool. So we see ourselves in the magical mirror of Gondor. And then you get to pick your pet. Cool. And then this is just an example of, like, if you wanted to be able to edit your pet, edit your. Here, let me just do this. So it's a really easy to remember pets. And one. One thing that a lot of designers will often do is use icons for things. But the challenge with icons without labels is you have to memorize the icon, and sometimes that can be challenging, especially in a game where you have to memorize more than, like, eight elements. Would you agree? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So what do you. What do you mean it's. It's not. Not loud? Like, do.
Is the show volume low? Is that what you're saying? Because we could turn up our. Our. Our mic. Is Jude or myself quiet now? It's a little. I like everything, but it's a little. Now it's a little loud. Wow. Is it loud right now?
He said not loud.
Oh, it's not loud. Do you. Ah, well, let us know, Max, if it's. If it's. Hopefully it's loud enough for you to hear it, and then we'll kind of tweak it for the next show. All right, let's jump back over in here. So we have the pick your pet. We're going to. Let's just do another one of these for picking your weapons.
Oh, I'm excited about this one.
So in your experience, you. When you get to pick. Maybe there's like a. The sword.
Sword. You can start with anime swords. I know swords. I know my enemy shows. I promise that.
Oops.
Oh, no. What could have happened here?
Just behind it? So I'm just gonna move it over and then cut it and then paste it so it's in front. So maybe there's like a starter kit where you get to choose a starter weapon. And I think we should even make it where if you didn't want to pick a weapon, you could pick like, like something like a jitsu or I don't know, maybe. Maybe it's like kind of a hidden thing or a sword or maybe a grappling hook.
No, no, we should do like, like throwing stars. Oh yeah. An ax. An axe. Throwing stars.
Ninja stars.
Ninja stars. And then we could do a.
What are some other weapons that usually are in games? Games like the games that you played earlier today?
I mean, mainly they just do like swords. Swords are like much popular. What is the point of the game?
Oh, Jude. So the point of the game is we are building a multi world game where the point of the game is to level up and to race inside of like multiple worlds with rollerblades. So there's here. I'll go back to the core. The core right up here. Because I think this is important. This is an important question that you had. So Roller World, which is the game that we're building, right. It's an adventure game that enables you to experience like the racing, rollerblading. So just like the mist game that you all play and the other open world fishing simulators and everything, you get to go into this big open vast world, but you also get to race each other with. With rollerblades and skates. You get to play other mini games, you get challenges, you get to fight each other in the game and you get to level up your weapons and your pets and your, your gear and your outfits. But we constantly add new challenges and new worlds where you get to kind of like skate. There's music inside the games and it's basically just like an open. It's an open game where you get to earn points and other things like that. And then we were also thinking there's themes and Halloween outfits and Christmas themes. Does that answer your question? And then so like really just think of it as like kind of like an amusement park. So in this sketch that we have right here. Sorry, I'm covering your face, Jude. So in the game, when you enter the game over here on this side, you actually have this middle area where you have your community center where you have your levels and challenges for what everybody's doing. You have your locker room where you get to store your pets and your rollerblades and the far right side where my right finger is, as you can see, the training room and the stores where you can go and get rentals and almost like, think of it as, like, amusement park.
Yeah. It's kind of like a music park, but for rollerblades.
But for rollerblades.
And fun.
Yeah. And. And funny backstory for this for anybody just joining, or if you didn't see it in our other previous videos is Jude and I were rollerblading one day, and we've, you know, we've been thinking about making this game for just. We've been wanting to make something together and. And we were rollerblading and then we started just talking about it.
It's the perfect opportunity.
It's the perfect opportunity.
Opportunity of a lifetime.
Yeah. And then. And then again, we have a long way to go. Look at all these things that we're gonna have to work through and fill in. But we're here for the challenge, and we're on the player experience right now. So let me go back over to player experience.
But we.
It's not going to be easy, but we're learning how to work through it. And we're building the scaffolding.
Scaffolding? Yeah, like the thing in mark.
Yeah, we're building the scaffolding to make it happen. So cool. So we have our scenes, and we have. We have our scenes, our weapons. So what's another one? Instead of ninja stars, I think we need something different besides swords, Axes and ninja stars.
We could do.
Ooh, staffs.
Oh, my God. Yeah, that's.
I think that's how you spell it. All right. So cool. We have these things, and you can change it. Each one of these things needs, like, it's, you know, like. Here, let me do this real quick. Maybe it's like the. And I'll just. We'll end up tweaking it later. But it's almost like the strength.
The strength is. So you start out as sword, and then you level up to axe, and then you level up to Ninja Star, and then you level up to staff. And then after these. Wait, actually. So you can do those. And then under. We could maybe add like a. Like, your powers, like your. Your quirks, your jutsu, your kekka genkai.
Oh, do you think. Where would that fit into any one of these, Jude? Or would that be more part of, like, because you picked Fire Clan, you have certain powers and certain things. Or.
I mean, I wouldn't restrict it to that.
Yeah.
You would be missing so much, and that would just be sad.
So that's like a fifth element that we need to figure out how to mix into the game. Like jitsu's.
Yeah, we could just like, copy one of these, put it under and just make it like jutsu. Cool quirks, stuff like that.
Okay.
Yeah.
Do you think that having five elements is too much like pets, outfits, accessories, gear and jitsus to manage?
No, we could just make. Gear is also like. Wait, we can make like. So we could remake. Rename the gear like new. Like weapons or like powers.
Well, maybe weapons could be inside of accessories. And then this could be power Power Ups.
Power Ups.
Yeah. So that. That's what we just did. There was. I mean, we. We did it pretty quick, right? It was a pretty quick decision, but we'll figure out if it ends up working out for us. But essentially those will. Those will be. Are a part of our game logic and game rules as we continue like designing this out.
Yeah.
So then there would be the power Ups. So I'm gonna change the pets to.
I've been thinking about these power ups for a long time. The whole week I've just been like, power Ups. I mean, I know, I know my power ups. I'm the power up guide. And like. Oh, wait, when you're like buying your new power Ups, I could. I could be the voice actor for it.
Oh, cool.
That would be vision. I would be like, you want the stuff?
Jude wants to be the voice.
No, I am.
Okay. Jude is.
Jude is the voice actor.
The voice actor. Okay, that. We have a note for that. Man. That is gonna happen.
I'll give you the one for all. Okay. I'll give you the reset.
Oh, cool. Cool, cool, cool. And then it's power up. So let's come up with four power ups. And if you have an idea for a power up on the live stream, definitely comment down below.
1 minute on the time timer.
1 minute on the time timer. It's starting now. All right. Go, go, go, go, go.
Chat it, chat it.
All right. One power. Pick your power up.
We got four slots of powers Go type speed. Oh, that would be funny. Yes.
Speed. Maybe there's like humor where you walk up to somebody and then you use your humorous one and then they just start laughing. They can't like stop and they can't stop laughing. It's kind of like Naruto's Jitsu. He has humorous ones, doesn't he?
Yes.
Wink, wink. All right, here we go. What else we got?
Humor. Yes.
Super strength.
Oh, yes. Oh, okay. But we also want to make. No, no.
Oh, we need one more. 2x speed, 2x jump. I like that.
Yeah. I have an idea. We should make it like an anime based. Right. It can be whatever yeah, we'll probably add more, right?
Yeah, we'll definitely add more, but these are just, like, things to get people started. They can choose. Jump boost. Yep. Jump boost. I think Eunice and Sebi were thinking of the same thing. I like that. Good job, guys. Good job, team. All right, cool. So you picked your power up. Oh, I missed our. All right, so we picked our power up. We picked our accessories. We picked our pet.
Oh, outfits with, like, the jump boosting. It's kind of like, remember all might's like, duh. Jumping through the city, like, bruh. Bruh.
Yeah, it's awesome.
Kind like that.
Pick your outfits. Okay. Quickly. Time freeze outfits. We have colors. We have time freeze power. Ooh, yeah.
That's also from an anime too, which is very insane.
Time freeze. Thanks, Eunice.
Paralyze other player. Those are good ones. Oh, my gosh.
Oh, yeah. Let's definitely write those in.
So many.
Yeah. That's awesome.
Okay, Can I add some? I need to add.
You guys are getting so excited. We have five minutes left of this show. We gotta keep pushing, but keep commenting and we'll get those added later. So we had pickering our pick our outfits. So outfits we'll do by colors we'll do by. You know what?
Extra life, maybe.
What was that last one?
Extra life.
Oh, I like that. Anime themes. Maybe. Like, there's outfits that are anime inspired.
Oh, yeah.
Colors.
That's happening.
And what else? What else could you do your outfits by? Maybe. Maybe a time period. Like if we're doing, like, Roman time period or if we're doing, like, futuristic time period. I don't know, because I. I'm thinking of, like, futuristic rollerblading where it's almost like. Reminds me of Tron, the movie. Tron. That would be cool. That'd be awesome. What if there was even, like, a part of the game where you found an Easter egg and it completely changed the entire aesthetic of the game where it looked like future, like, totally futuristic.
That would be cool.
And you could only find it certain.
I don't know, man.
All right, all right, all right. So we got that. I need one more.
I have one.
Okay, lay it on me, Sangon. That's not outfit.
Oh, outfit. I thought it was like that. Okay, outfit. Okay. An outfit.
Color.
I got this.
I got comfort.
Comfort. No, no.
How comfortable is your outfit? It's a brainstorm.
It's transparent.
Oh, it's like the cloak.
Yeah, cloaks.
So, all right, hold on. So look. Look at all the stuff we did. So we basically so started the process of what? The first time experience coming into the game, choosing some of your elements and basically building out, choosing your characters. And again you'll be able to do this or we could just have a skip where they could just not do it.
Working on this, on the week, we'll be just adding some things.
Yeah, we'll be improving this for sure. And then when you get into the game, you have your map, but we're also going to have another area where just like the map that you saw that our sketch of that, our map could be something that you toggle on maybe in the bottom.
Oh yeah. And you press M. Yeah, you press.
M and then it, it kind of comes out like a cool little like I am here. Like an animation that comes out maybe Gene.
Yeah.
And then you can see the map and I think there could also be another cool, another cool experience where you can see like your, your, your clan. Like if your clans online you could.
See like your clan and like that you press them and then you're in the map and you could see like your opponents, I mean your teammates like around the map.
Yeah. Cuz I kind of like, I like that you can see like all the players. But if you're playing with your team, like your friends, it'd be cool to see their avatars here and like, like where they are. Yeah. And then you can see where they are in the map. And then these are Here, let me just finish this real quick. And boom, boom, boom. We'll update these colors later, dude.
Oh yeah.
So. So you have your teammates in the game and then you can actually see where they are on the map when you go on the map. Right. And then, and then you can see like the different challenges and things that like the radius is kind of like in Fortnite where you. The maps changing.
I don't think they can see our screen.
Oh dang.
So sad.
I don't. How long was that like that? If that was there for a while we were designing and we kind of completely. I don't know when it changed that. So we have these. What we were talking about just now was like the teammates are inside the game and then you can see that like because some of the games when you're chatting with people, you can't actually see your team, the people that you're playing with.
KLC screen. Yeah.
Oh, did it just. Oh, it's back. Okay.
Yeah.
Sorry about that. So cool. So we have like these other things where we have these different perimeters that I was thinking about.
Give us an oof. In the chat.
And I think as much as I'd love to just keep jamming on this and keep flying out, what we. What we accomplished today was we started breaking out the outfits, accessories, pets, gear, and. And then for the pets and things, we'll start looking at the different in the game logic, the speed, the traction style that we will have. What happened? Are you okay?
That's hilarious.
Okay. And. And we work through, like, what possible the experience would be like. We'll continue improving this over the coming weeks. And if we go back to our game document, this is the player experience one more time. And if I show you some of the other things, we will continue. We're working on this first part of the store because that's a big part of the game. But there will be other things that we'll have to design, like the training room, the locker room, the coin system, the challenges, the Easter egg, all of these things. And it's just going to take some time. And we're just going to keep working through it and keep staying organized. And without further ado, we're going to kind of jump into our final. Our final review of the show. Things that we think. Jude, let's do a quick reflection and. Sorry, we're only going to be on for another, like, five minutes tops. So if you got to go to dinner or something like that. Thanks. Yeah, definitely hit the like button and just thanks for sticking around with us. So, Jude, what's something that went really well today? And then let's get you closer to the mic. All right?
Yeah, I'm pretty excited that we got the. The abilities down. I'm really excited about that. We got the abilities. We got the. We got the abilities. You know, we got the, the. The weapons. And I'm just, I'm. I'm happy that we did that because I was really. I'm really excited for that.
Okay, and then what's something that you think we could have done better? What's something that you could have. That could have done better this week when it comes to improving and working towards this big. This big goal of ours?
Well, like, what could have went better, like, in this life, in this live.
Stream or just this week in preparation for the show?
I mean, I think in the live stream we did like. We could have done better on, like, the. Cuz, like the stream.
The.
Yeah, yeah, the stream kind of froze, so we had to do it.
Yeah, but we couldn't really control that. Yeah, that was. That could have been an Internet issue. Our Internet's like. We've we have really good Internet. So what's something that's more personal for you?
Personal. Thank you, Jude.
Thank you, Jude.
Okay, what could have gone better with what?
Something that you could have done better this week?
I think I did good.
Okay. All right, cool. And as far as something that I think went really well today is we made a lot of progress and we made a lot of progress for this structure and this entire. And this entire screen that we showed you. Thinking about all the different elements that we have. This is a lot of thinking. So it's really important to stay organized with your work. And I think that we are. Even if something's taking us a little bit longer, I think it's better to have this be organized. So in case we build our team out and we have more team players that come and want to help us build this out, they will know how they can participate and how they can support the game development. And then something that I think could have gone better. I think that what I would like to do for the next week is I'd like to spend a little bit more time offline in drawing and. And kind of like drawing out a lot more of this stuff. I feel like when. Oh, sorry, Jude. I'm so sorry. When. When we are drawing out these. This map, I feel like when. When we get to this level of fidelity and just keep drawing the things.
That we want, it's going to be amazing.
The ideas tend to get fleshed out a little bit more. So I think I want to do a little bit more sketching. And even though, like, when we are showing. When we are showing our. Not our testing strategy. Not that, not, not that, not that. Our player experience, like, all of these elements. I love this part because it starts getting into interface design, which is something that I love to do. But I think. I think this was a good. A good step forward.
And.
And we'll do that. And one thing I didn't even show you was this. Not that, not that, not that analysis. Not, not that, not that, not that. Where is this? I just had it open.
Not that. Yes, that.
Okay. Yeah, right here. So I started even breaking out the actions and things that we're going to need people to do. For example, we're going to need to develop literally the six core Rollerblades. The. We're going to need to do some research in the Roblox design community as far as how to build out a lot of these assets. And so a lot of this next. In the coming weeks, we're gonna have to learn the design language inside of Roblox and, and it's completely custom into Roblox Studio so that's gonna take us some time to figure it out. So I'm just gonna show you what I'm talking about here on the screen. I have these different tasks for what I need to do from an engineering side of things and then what we need to do from a design side of things. So we'll keep kind of flushing those out. And so we talked about what we could have done better. We talked about things that went really well and as far as next week we'll continue this journey in developing this game. We'll get to see a lot of excitement, a lot of new things and, and other than that if you have any ideas or concepts or you want to keep joining us, we'll see you next week. Next Sunday 4pM for another episode of Design with us. Thanks for hanging out with us and we'll see you.
