Hey, what's up everybody? Drew Bridewell here and I'm super glad that you're here because I have a new update for you and it's around a new series that I've been creating and if you haven't, we haven't yet been introduced. I'm a senior product designer. I've done a lot of coach UX coaching and I've produced Practical UX Weekly, which is a weekly series about user experience design and it's on LinkedIn, learning and lynda.com and there's currently two seasons of this series and season one. Talk a lot about, about working with engineers, working with product managers, designing a responsive experience, creating case studies. And then in season two it's more about design systems and, and elevating your practices and how you think about it and how you think about being a designer. And those were very, very satisfying as far as like bringing value to the community community, bring in resources for other UX designers that are just getting out in the field and I'm excited to continue on that mission, continue on that journey with a new series called Design With Us. Now Design With Us is more of a family friendly exercise around having many activities and many practices that you can apply to building and designing pretty much anything. And what we're going to be doing for season one is we're going to design plan video game. Now not just any video game, it's going to be a Roblox video game and if you haven't heard of Roblox, it's a pretty sophisticated platform and it's, it reminds me of in Minecraft and it reminds me of, of using patterns in a system and that's what we're going to do and we're going to apply the user centered design approach to this and create a really fun, interesting and playful sticky game. And when I say we I, I mean I'm bringing my son Jude, Jude Bridewell, who also has a YouTube show called JudegameraTV. And what Jude does is he produces videos around his favorite games and Roblox and Minecraft and many more. And he basically commentates and talks about the game and talks about how to play them and if you want to definitely check out his videos, judegamertv and you can subscribe. But he's doing a great job and to continue on his mission and he's really interested in building a game. I'm really interested in building a game. So we're going to collide our efforts and create this and it's going to be live so we're going to start this on Sundays. And we're right now we're playing with the times, but this next week it's going to be at 4pm so if you want to come check out and see what it's all about, you should definitely, you should definitely subscribe down below on my website and or go to my YouTube channel and subscribe so you can get notified when that comes out. And other than that, now I want to just kind of tell you a little bit more about what the show is going to be about. So we're going to have 12 episodes in this first season. Now, if you've ever watched the British Baking show or the Zumbo's Cooking Bake Off Challenges and all the other shows that are coming out on Netflix right now, those get me really pumped up because what they're doing is they're helping us think about content in a whole other way and where it doesn't always have to be high stress, high pressure to get entertainment and education at the same time. So my goal is to create a series of shows that are going to be bringing you entertainment, but also bringing you knowledge and training that you can get along the way. So the episodes will range from one hour to two hours, and they'll fluctuate from teaching you about brainstorming, ideation, wireframing, visual design, learning something new, and then also just having the mindset to continue breaking through those struggles that you might have when you are learning something new. Because I got to tell you, I know I've never designed a video game, but I got to tell you, I thought about it a lot and I've thought about it enough where I have a perspective on the type of games that I want to play and the type of games that I want to create. I want to create games that have high moral values. I want to create games that are interesting and fun and cool, quirky and creative, that have really great music and that keep you wanting to learn more in the game and also give you an expansive playground to create your own environment. So I'm super pumped. Jude's super pumped. And we're going to be bringing you our thinking, our level of how we process information on Sundays, 4pm and it's going to be fun. So a little bit about the framework of the show. So the framework of the show is we'll always come in in the first, like five to 10 minutes about what the show is about and kind of what we've been up to during the week. Kind of like a check in More of like a daily stand up if you ever, if you've ever done that before. The second thing that we're going to do is talk about what the objective of the show is. So in the first episode we're going to be doing ideation, brainstorming and audit of existing games and understanding the things that we like and the things that we don't like. So whenever you're starting a project, you're usually starting the early phases of just trying to get the brain flowing, the brain going and thinking about what it is that you want to create. Then we're gonna come out of that with a design brief. So after we let you know what the objective of the show is gonna be, then we'll talk about the actual activities to help us execute on what we need to do for that episode. Then following that, we'll have a reflection period. The third thing is we're gonna talk about the activities. A told you that the next steps, as far as like what we're going to be doing next in the next show to help kind of carry this idea that we were just on to the next stage, then we're going to have a retro and a reflection period for each episode. And these are really important. If you haven't done this in your current projects, where you have retrospectives with your team, your product engineers, your product managers, your engineers and your cross functional stakeholders, retros allow you to really understand and be intentional with how you can be better. Because there's always room for being better and there's always room for a little additional effort to understand what your team did and what you could have done better and how you can show up better in the next experience. So that's something that's really important, a part of reflection. And we're going to be having those sessions at the end of each episode as well. And by the end of this season, it's going to be really exciting to see what we create and we're going to bring you along for that entire journey. So if you're excited, if you've already been listening this entire video, then maybe there's just a little hint that this might be for you. You can bring your kids, you can bring your family, or if you just want to come hang out and learn a little bit about how we think and what we're doing, then you should do that as well. And if you missed this, if you miss a live episode, no problem. We're going to still post this on the channel so you can check it out when you have time Other than that, stay safe out there. Happy creating, happy collaborating. And I cannot wait to bring this to you. So stay tuned for the Release on Sunday, 4pM all right, have an amazing rest of your day and I'll see you next time.
