Mastering your Monthly Plan!

Drew Bridewell walks through a triage framework for monthly planning: Maintaining, Advancing, Starting. He shows how to build an October Intention plan in the Growth Day app using reminders and subtasks, then connects it to a growth loop that ties reflection, learning, planning, and execution into one continuous cycle.

All right, welcome, welcome, welcome. We're just gonna get everybody in and hopefully just give people a couple minutes to show up. We're gonna have so much fun today doing some intention setting and some action planning inside of the app. So welcome, Stacy. Welcome. Ashley. Hey, Audrey, what's up? Yes. Happy Friday, everybody. It's gonna keep letting people roll in for a couple minutes with a full hour. So let's just give each everybody some grace getting in and it's just gonna be super fun. I got a couple, I got a couple fun things planned for today, so I just love these sessions. They're so much fun. All right, welcome, welcome. Kb. Welcome, David. Welcome. Janine. If we haven't met yet, I'm Drew. Nice to meet you. Everybody's clicking their buttons and getting in, so this is good stuff. Go ahead and welcome. Go ahead and introduce yourself in the chat if you want, like maybe what your role and discipline is. Maybe like the one thing that you're trying to plan for the month of October, like maybe it could just be one thing or you could put a couple things if you want to do that too. Welcome in. Welcome, Candice. Welcome. So this whole session is just going to be about like setting you up for success for, for the month of October. Like it, it doesn't, it doesn't happen in October. It happens before October. Right. We're, we're trying to get really intentional about how we plan, how we structure our month and how we not only do it with the actual things that we're going to do, but how we mentally prepare for it and set that mindset up. This is something that has absolutely just changed the way that I get things done as a head of product and design here at Growth Day, but also just as a product leader in the, in the tech industry now. I've worked at LinkedIn, I've worked at Facebook, I've worked at Envision, I've worked@lynda.com I have been very blessed to work at some high performing teams across my entire career as a product designer. And today I just want to bring some of those practices into this conversation, but also just help you kind of navigate growth day in the plan tool and also just how I typically set up every single month that I approach this way. So it's going to be super fun. So welcome, Audrey. Welcome, Ganesh. Oh, cool, cool, cool, cool. Let's go. Awesome. Go ahead and introduce yourself in the chat if you haven't yet done so, or feel free to stay anonymous if you want. But we're also Going to be using the notes, and we have a little bit of agenda. If you haven't attended any of the whoop sessions from Danny Southwick, I want to encourage you to do that next week. He schedules them typically twice a week. I attend the Thursday sessions based on my schedule. It works better that way. And these are about setting you up, setting high intention so you can go and have, you know, better and more successful outcomes and envision what it is that you want to achieve. Really great sessions. So we're just getting everybody in, and then we're going to kick this thing off, and it's going to be super fun. So it's going to be an interactive session, and at some point throughout the talk, we can actually bring people up on stage. If you want to ask any questions about the Growth Day product, we have a big release coming up next week, so I think you're all going to absolutely love it. And, yes, some new enhancements inside of the Growth Group experience. Just letting some people in, and then we can just kind of kick this thing off. Yeah. So Danny Southwick. Ganesh. Danny. Here, I'll write his name. Yeah. Thank you, Audrey. Awesome. Such a great team in here. Cool. All right. All right. So first things first. Whenever I start a planning session, and if you. I'm sure you have the Growth Day app open right now. If you want to open up a new tab so you can watch me and also watch or even have, like, your journal open or have your plan open, that's totally cool. We'll do a little bit of this interactivity. But for the first part. Oh. Oh, yeah. Cool, cool, cool. People keep coming in. So just as a heads up for everybody attending the session today, Growth Groups is a safe space. Like, there's no pressure if you have to leave, if you have to bounce, if you have to come in and come out, it's totally okay. If you. It isn't like a room kind of like in. What's that other app called? I mean, where you just kind of come in and leave really fast. We're not trying to encourage those sorts of interactions, but if you gotta go, like, nobody's gonna sweat it, and everybody's just here to support each other here in the Growth Day app, so. But. Welcome, everybody. My name is Drew Bridewell. I'm head of product and design here at Growth Day. Super honored and privileged to be here. We're really trying to make self improvement a way of life. And we're building, you know, as far as, like, growth groups are, these are growth groups that really help you feel supported, encouraged, and motivated to actually accomplish the things that you want to accomplish. Like this. This whole topic is about this October intention, setting and action planning using the Growth Day app. Right. Obviously, we have a plan tool inside there. It's number four on your keyboard. So if you were to go to the dashboard and you click four on your keyboard, it would navigate you to the plan. All those actually are keyboard shortcuts, if you didn't know that, just to be able to get through there. But don't click it right now because you'll leave my growth group. But coming out in the coming weeks, we have this thing that I'm really excited that I think you're going to really love, which allows you to kind of navigate the app while you're in a growth group. So don't hold me. It's coming. It's coming soon. It's going to be really exciting. So I think you all love it. So Jeanine also just called out that there is a notes section in this right sidebar. So this notes is really important. So anything that you capture from today and you want to take notes or take notes about what you're going to be planning and setting intention for, for the coming. Well, for the coming month, I want to encourage you to do that because notes are incredibly important. Like, I was even taking my own notes and I can't share everything that I'm working on because it's, you know, NDA and private. But I do have a quick. A quick checklist of things that I'm working towards for October. So I'll have it up in front of me, too, so I can follow along with you as well. So let's just get after it. And if you have any questions about the app, like, you can use the chat and somebody from the. Somebody from our group will answer it, or I'll answer it, and we can just be on our way. All right, so first things first. Whenever I start planning out my next month, I'm thinking about. I'm not just thinking about the things that are currently in motion. I'm thinking about the new things that I need to start, and I'm thinking about the. The existing things that I need to advance. So that's three things right there. Right? Already setting the intention. So. Oh, welcome, Robin. Your first group. Let's go. Welcome, welcome, welcome. Honored. This is your first one. So in the notes, in the notes panel, I want you all open up the notes and I want you to think and I want you to write down these three words. Maintaining, advancing and I'm writing it with you. Maintaining, advancing and starting. Alright, I'm gonna paste it inside the chat so these three words and you can copy and paste this in your notes. So whenever I start thinking about the next upcoming month, because this is also about intention, setting, it's not just about like just you going to the plan and just writing that you need to accomplish something in the plan. I'm thinking about these three things. So I have things that I'm already having flight. I have these things already being worked on and those things are kind of like things that I'll be maintaining. So I want you to already start thinking about the things that you already do at your work, at your family, the routines, the rituals, the habits that you already have. And you want to maintain those things for the month of October. Think about just for you know, like maybe like 30 seconds. I'll set the timer for like a 30 second timer. And I want you to think about the things that you need to maintain this month. Just main, just maintenance, you know, things that are happening currently in your, in your process, in your flow, in your rituals. It could be your work habits, it could be, you know, the things you do. School started for a lot of families, so taking your kids to school and you have like maintenance for, you know, making sure that food's there and prepared and you know, you have your meal plans and other things that you're doing. So think about what you're maintaining right now and write it in your notes and I'll just pause for a little bit. I'm going to catch up on the comments while you do that. So what are things that you're maintaining right now? Write them down. Things that you're maintaining. Because a lot of these things that we're currently maintaining, we're going to end up going back into our plan and making sure that we have some of these things listed. Okay. All right. So as far as details, these things are like whatever's coming to you. So I mean obviously we're in a very short, you know, short 50 minute group. So these things that you could be maintaining for me, for me, I just have little bullets. Sorry, my timer just went off. I have little bullets and I put them into themes. So because I really work off of the themes and the time boxes and the block time that I have in my calendar, I really like to focus on these big rocks is what I call them. And for the maintenance for me, I have four concurrent projects that are going on right now inside of the Growth Day app for These and then I have a couple personal ones like helping with my family. I'm doing workshops for my kids school so I have like, you know, these themes of things that I need to maintain I want to continue doing and includes like you know, fitness, running, working out. I know it's getting colder so I still got to get my runs in, I still have to do my exercise. So what are the things you want to maintain that have some form of planning that you need to do and you just jot those things down and you can, if you're a very detail oriented person you can write these things out. But I would keep it pretty high level theme block because if you write too much detail you might get overwhelmed with all the things that you're doing. Alright, cool. Maintenance. The next thing that I want you to think about and consider in your notes is I want you to write down advancing. Now advancements are the things that you currently already started but they're projects that you really want to move forward. It doesn't mean you have to finish them in October, but you really want to advance them. And I mean like advancements are serious things that you're like, like if you're trying to write a book, you're going to write four or five chapters, not just one chapter. One chapter might not be enough for you to feel like, you know, like you really advanced it this month. So think about the things you really want to advance. And, and I have things in my advancement bucket are, you know I'm, I'm working on releasing training, I'm work like working on releasing training for the whole Growth Day app. So I'm really wanting to advance that in the month of October so that they're ready to go in November and December when we have more people coming into the platform. And really because it's around holidays when there's a lot more people are excited about personal growth and development. So I want to have these trainings ready. I'm really trying to get those things something I want to advance. Same thing. I have some things that I'm creating, reflecting on and learning about and I want to be able to advance my learning in these certain categories. So I started a couple masterclasses on masterclass.com around like emotional IQ and a really couple really new courses that came out there. So like I really love just learning from different platforms. So I, I have things there that I really want to advance and finish. I also have this book, it's called CEO Excellence by Carolyn Duar, Scott Keller and Vikram. And it's Just about, like, how CEOs can run more excellent companies and environments. So I'm really trying to learn more about that. So that's another thing that I'm trying to advance my, my learning and insights around those categories. So think about what are things that you want to advance. Write those things out. Cool. Take, take, take, take. And, and also, if you're, if you're struggling with having things that you want to advance, just think about the thing. Like, if you were like, let's just say you were about to, you're like 10x better in every area of your life right now. You're 10x better in all the things that you wanted to do. And you had the skills and you had the abilities and you had the courage and you had the confidence to go in and tackle these things. What would you do? What would you do with that skill? What would you do with those abilities? What would that thing be that could be one of your advancements? Because even if you don't have the skills to do it right, we can write down those things and then we can end up turning that into a goal, or we can turn that into an action plan, or we could turn that into a rock, and then we'll break down that rock a little bit later. So think about the things you want to advance. All right, I'm just going to hold for another 20, 30 seconds just so you can digest it and think about it. Things you want to advance. Okie dokie. All right, and this last category for the month of October. What are things that you want to start? What are things that, like, if you could start this habit, this ritual, this routine, this new venture, this new business, this new post, this new writing, this new video, this new, this new talent, whatever it is, what are those things? Let's write those things down. What are the new things you're starting? We got some really fun projects lined up for the month of October. And I'm like, I feel like Willy Wonka in the chocolate factory. I'm so excited about these new things that we're building to make this product better. And I can't wait to start those new things. Yeah. So, Stacy, this completely depends on your ambition, your passion for the things. So this completely depends. You don't have to have, you know, you could have one thing that you're starting. You could have four or five things that you're starting. You could Have 10 things that you're starting. And you don't have to literally start all these things. But just by going through the exercise of Writing these things down, it's going to help you because you're setting those intentions. You're setting the intention for what you really want and what you really desire and what your needs are and what you. What you want to. Because I think the more you do this every month, the more you're going to start getting into an understanding of what it's going to really take for you to execute these things. And if you're not executing like, you know, 90% of them or 50% of them, 20, you can recalibrate yourself and be like, oh, maybe I should not take on so much. But it really depends on your level and your ability, your just how, how much you can take on. For me, like, I, I love, I love having a full, A full list of things in a full what? Within, within reason, A full schedule. But I have block times where I'm tackling these things and if it doesn't fit into my block times, then it's just going to get pushed off to another month. I'm not like stressing about it at all. It's just, these are the things in my bucket. Oh, and if I wake up another hour or two earlier, which is something I did years and years ago where I'd started, you know, I was at. I'd wake up at 7 and then I wake up at 6, and I wake up at 5, and then I wake up 4, 45 and. And I recalibrated and went to bed earlier and was able to start building that habit. And I needed that extra time to be able to align with the ambition that I had to go pursue the things I wanted to pursue. And so you just recalibrate based on what works best for you. Ah. And if you are feeling overwhelmed, that's why we're going to put this into a plan so that you can take a calm, calm, calm, deep breath and be like, this is the number one thing that I'm going to focus on. And then we'll tackle that. But use this moment in this time to get excited and in that overwhelm. Let's recalibrate or reframe that overwhelm into opportunities. These are just all opportunities for us to tackle these things. Now, like I said, whether you do it or not is a whole nother thing. But this is a moment. And when you're setting intention about, like, what it is you desire, even if it's something that you can't get to a year from now or two years from now, the practice of starting to really envision what you want is a really great first step. So there's different levels to all these things, but yeah, and not everything, you know, you might not have to get to everything next month, but it's totally fine. All right, so we looked at maintenance, the things we're maintaining, the things we're advancing, and the things we want to start. All right, so everybody got a list? Everybody got a list of stuff. I'm just reading the comments here. Yeah, I think Audrey, like, this is also a self regulation type of treatment. So Audrey had a really good question. So, like we're moving into Q4 and you probably have existing projects and things that you're maintaining and things that you want to finish and things that you're, you know, you've been advancing that you want to finish. I think it's always, it's really good practice on your Sundays, like, because you're looking at the week ahead. And this is also something that Brendan's really taught a lot with his battle boards. Brendan Burchard, our CEO and really trying to figure out, like how you manage your time and your time windows and your block time. I think it's important to like recalibrate every month. And you can use the journal to do this like a monthly reflection and you can also use the weekly reflection in the journal to kind of like have a weekly look back. And I'm going to talk about how I do that too in this session. And I have a fun little graphic and I call it the growth loop. And we're going to go into that too, because I want you to be positioned in a way where you can design your own growth loop so you can have a little bit more flow in your days and your weeks and your months. It's a really, it's kind of like a pro tip that I use to effectively be a more holistic, rounded professional in my field. And you could create whatever that is for your field too. So we want to do that. All right, cool. So we've talked about these three things. We've set the intention now, like, I know that, I know that throughout this process, right. You might have like Audrey was saying, you might have like things in here that you are, you know, it just might feel like a lot of things. But remember, you can dial it down or dial it up, depending on your ambition, depending on your drive, your necessity, like how important it is that these, you know of what it is that you're trying to achieve and what you're trying to do to either boost some of your motivation, your energy up, or if you're in a state where, you know, you want to clean, calm, cool flow of your work. That's completely fine, because you get to architect this. This is. This is what it's all about inside of growth day. Like, you're architecting your flow. You're not letting outside energies affect your. The way you get things done or the way that you accomplish your dreams and goals. Like, that's up to you. So, all right, cool. We're here. We're going, we're going, we're going. All right, all right. So now what I want to do is I want you to open up the plan, which you can do command n. You could maybe move me on one side and go to another side. And I'm going to. I'm going to open up a new window and I'm going to go to the plan section of the app and then I'm going to share my screen. And I know that when I share my screen, my tile is going to kind of make go a lot smaller. And you're going to see the. You're going to see the plan tool. And I know it's small. I know it's super small. Let me come back around and, and what we're gonna do. Oh, yeah, Robin. So open up a new tab. Command n, leave, don't leave, migrate, don't leave the group. Open up a new tab. If you're on. If you're on, like, multiple. Let me see what this looks like real quick. Yeah, if you're on multiple or if you don't have two screens, then you don't have to open up your new tab. You could just hang out and just follow along. I know this is smaller as well on your screen. So what I do want to encourage you to do is just like, you can open up, like, you can just have a notebook or you can just really do it. Just about anything here. Oh, okay. So Stacy had a prompt around, like, she thought about making action plans based on the life scores, clarity, energy, et cetera. Is anybody doing that? I haven't actually heard of anybody doing that right now. But if you're trying to improve your clarity, your goal or your clarity, your energy, your necessity, your. Your productivity, and really trying to really improve your high performance habits like courage, influence all those, then just know that every time you life score, you're going to see those recommendations below your life score. And, and you're also going to. So if I was to go to my life scores and go to history, you're going to see your recommendations, like, for each of the scores. So when you click recommendations, like, productivity was my lowest, my lower score. So you can still go back in there and practice those things. And if you do want to create a plan where you have that, that's completely cool too. Yeah, absolutely. So I think you all have the right idea here. You can do it across all areas of your life. So a couple of ways that we can do this. So, like, I want to create a plan right now. I'm going to call it October Intention. And I'm going to set a due date for this. And it's gonna. I'm gonna set it for tomorrow because we're doing it right now. And I'm gonna practice this every single day and be aware of it. So I'm gonna get a daily reminder at 9am and so I'm setting this reminder the daily, and then I'm gonna save it. So now I have an October Intention plan. It's due October 1st, and it's gonna remind me about this 9am Daily. I'm gonna create that plan. It's gonna come into my plan list. And now I have a very, you know, blank. A blank canvas. Right? We talked about things we're maintaining, we talked about things we're advancing, and we talked about things that we're starting new. Right? So you could go into your list of things and copy and paste them into this top section right here, just so you have text to look at and you can go and. Stacy, could you please clarify when you say the daily habit tracker, like, what you're trying to. What you're thinking about with regards to when you say daily habit tracker? Because I interpret that as a couple different things. So if you could double down and let me know exactly what your question's about, we can dive into it. Ah. So reminder. Do you habit. You can absolutely 1000% do that. So if you are wanting to set up like a reminder, I'll show you. I'll show you that real quick. I'll just jump into that real quick. So I'll come back to this October Intention. But if you wanted to set reminders about anything in your plan, then you can go into your reminders. And what I've done is I've set up reminders where I get. I have different, like, actions and things that I'm trying to get reminded of every day. Like, they get reminded to me as push notifications or in app notifications. Push notifications are like literally things like this where it comes up on your phone and then you can tap it and it'll take you right back to this page. Or you can get standalone reminders. And those are like the keywords or the. Whatever the text is that you want to be reminded of. And that would be just like you hit set reminder. You write in the text that you want. Like, maybe your three words of how you want to show up this next month. Like, I want to show up courageous. I want to show up enthusiastic. I want to show up purpose driven. And then I would put these words here, and then I would set when I want to get reminded of those words, and then they would hit me every single day. This is another big practice that Brennan really teaches a lot of. And it's so helpful to get those visual. Those visual triggers, mental triggers when you get notified. And then you can step into that intention, step into that energy as you go, and you knock out, you know, these. These three big things that you're doing right, the things you're starting, the things that you're maintaining, and the things that you're advancing. Let's go. Yes, Robin, they do come to your phone. So they would come up as push notifications. A push notification is what slides down at. On your native phone, on your iOS or Android phone. And it would just come in as a little notification. Like, for example, I got a reminder just now or a little bit ago about my group starting in 15 minutes. So that was one of my reminders. So after you set this up, it will notify you on your app if you have that. Oh, beautiful. I'm glad you now know that. So again, you can put little emoticons and stuff here if you wanted to do that. And you're on a Mac, you can do control command space, and then you could just change it, like so. And then you have those saved. So these little icons that show up. Any questions about this, please feel free to chat them down below or to the right. And I'd be happy to jump in and answer any questions you have about setting reminders. But again, you can set reminders about anything. Like, I've even set reminders about my Monday motivation plan where, you know, I have different, different actions and things that I want to get reminded of. And I. I have a lot of these. But, you know, once I set it, I can kind of turn it off and mute it if I wanted to. I can turn it off and then I could actually just turn it back on if I wanted it, get back into the mode. So that's how you can set reminders. I'm going to come back to October. Hmm. Audrey that's an interesting thing. So if you're, if your reminders aren't working and they're not coming in, definitely let us know with the support. So you can hit 8 on your keyboard or come down to the very bottom left of the app and give us that feedback and let us know like what's not coming in. You should be getting your notifications and then you might also want to check that you have the latest app installed. We do do app updates every two weeks, so you could be running an old version of the app and notifications maybe in the version that you had weren't synced up. So just please feel free to do that. And like Alia said, sometimes you might have too many reminders. So if you feel like you need a reset, just go and either delete them all and then start from scratch. But really just know that Growth Day is an intention, is a purpose and intention driven place. So use this as a place for you to set really intentional reminders that things are going to serve you, things are going to help you, things that are going to motivate you and help you feel like you have kind of a just grasp and a sense of calm around what it is that you're trying to accomplish. But, but you can always just reset it and start from scratch. Like literally just what I did with this October plan, I just started a new plan. It's totally fine. So I have things that I'm maintaining. So what I could do here just for this plan is I could set up my three buckets or my three themes and then I can come over to the side and I have four different actions here. I have a calendar which I can set a due date, I have a reminder, I can delete it or I can set some subtasks. So let me just do that again for you. So I come over, it's on hover and I can click the arrow and it's going to give me a sidebar where I can start adding in subtasks. The reminders are for Starter Pro, all access up. So as long as you have a starter plan, you can use all of these features. If you aren't, if you don't have a starter plan and you're coming in and just watching the session, you do have to have at least a starter plan to use the tools. However, if you are a, if you're coming in through a free account, you can do the free challenges. So all the challenges right now in the app are set to free and you can go and retake those as many times as you want. There's notes and plans and other features embedded inside of those challenges. So if your friends wanted to come in and try growth day, they could come in through a challenge, test it out, try it out, and then they could also participate in your growth groups if you're hosting them. And as a pro member, you get up to 10 free growth groups when you upgrade to pro. And then there is a monthly plan to host these growth groups, but just to attend growth groups, they're completely free. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. Cool. And please feel free to just keep the questions flowing in the chat. We're doing great on time, so. All right. So the things that I'm maintaining. So what you could also do is come in and write these things. So if it was like a b, you know, and I want to be, like, mindful of not sharing my, like, you know, the things that I'm really trying to advance with growth day. But I could be like, I'm maintaining healthy workout habits and cooking routines. Okay. I want to do that. That's like, kind of like a daily thing. So I need to make sure I'm on that. I want to do weekly growth group sessions with all of you amazing people with all strivers. Every Friday. Every Friday. So I don't even have to put Friday, because I could just put, you know, it's a Friday, and there we go. I'm gonna save that. So now I have a Friday that I'll be doing on my Friday. Growth groups. I have another thing that I'm maintaining where it says Friday, or actually, I'm gonna call it rituals and team. Team rituals and routines. And then another one that I'll do is play and adventure. So these are things that I will not. I will not kind of bend on the things that I need to maintain in my life. I need to maintain healthy habits, rituals, and routines. I need to maintain, and I want to do these weekly growth groups. I'm going to maintain these every Friday. I'm going to have team rituals and routines, the things that I'm helping my team focus on and drive forward and helping them empower them to really step up and lead. And then I'm also going to continue doing play and adventure. Like Saturdays and Sundays. We have soccer on Saturdays and Sundays. Usually we do a hike, and then I do cooking, and then we do playing, and we watch movies and have fun. So, like, where are you having all these sorts of things inside your life? And you can put your list in there. But I just wanted to show You a quick example of how you can do this for just the maintaining and how quickly you can do it. Awesome. Any questions about this, please let me know. So again, if I hover over the sidebar here, I know I'm a little bit small here, you can see the sidebar there and it comes open now in the mobile app. The mobile app same. You can just add subtask and then you'll be able to get those in there and we should be good to go. Alright, so everybody see you can click on the little number as well to get into that sidebar and you could even move these up and down if you need to. From a prioritization standpoint, after you finish them, you don't even have to, you can check these off the list. You don't have to. Typically like I'm just leaving them open and I use these as themes and I come back and I just, you know, I'll just have them open and then. But it's all about, for me it's all about intention and block time. So when I'm going in and setting these plans up. Oh, how do you move a subtask on the app? I'll show you just in a second. So you can drag these up and down tasks, but if you click into a subtask, the same functionality exists. So as on the keyboard, you'll see these little like handles and this is pretty standard across a lot of like project management tools where you can drag things up and down but you just gotta find the handlebar and there's a little like six dots to the left and you just drag it and move it up and down. Oh, okay. So how did I get this? These three actions, there's this add new action right underneath and this is your main task. And then when you hit return it just saves it to the list. And then you can come in and click this little arrow on the far right and that allows you to get to the subtask. Alright, so on phone, I'm opening the app right now. I'm going to my plan. I'm getting all these notifications from my team. Let's go. I'm going to go to my plan. I'm going to October. So in order to add subtask you need to go into the main task and then there's a button that says add subtask and that add subtask is going to be. Let me see if it focuses in. It might not focus on my phone, but it's just right underneath your last task. So there's a button that looks pretty much exactly like this. Add new action and. And that Add subtask is the button that will allow you to do this on your mobile phone, but you have to click in to, like, I had to click into maintaining in my mobile phone to be able to see that, and then you should be good to go. All right, cool. How's everybody doing so far? How's everybody progressing? Stacy, Ashley, Alita, kb David, Janine, Dorothy, Ganesh, Candace. Y' all doing good? Any questions? Pam? Good, good, good. Kelly? Okay, y' all are doing. This is. This is really great work. I mean, we're slowly, like, right. We're setting intention. We haven't done anything within this month yet. But the reason why we're doing this is, like, we're already thinking about all the things that we're gonna accomplish and things we're gonna work through, because we still have to. We still have to execute. And I'm going to get to that in a second with the growth loop, because the growth loops going to actually be absolutely incredible for you. Okay, so advancing the things that we're advancing. I'll do A, I'll do B. And just follow along with me if you can. For abcd and then for the things that I'm advancing, I have my list here of things that I wrote down. I have new things that I'm just going to write, like, kind of buckets. I'm creating some new products and features and experiences. I'm doing some reflection and training, reflecting. When I say reflecting, I mean, like, what are the, like, three or four things that I can do for all of my reports, all of my team members, all of the strivers, all the company that are going to really help grow and advance every single network that I'm a part of. You know, my. My network and my old friends that I used to work with, the people that are, you know, just literally had to go through a hurricane in Florida. The friends that I have down in Florida, how can I support and help them? How can I support, you know, literally, my brother just had his birthday yesterday. I want to. I want to continue celebrating his birthday. He's having a good time. I want to, you know, so these are all, like, little things of things that I want to advance my relationships, my energy with my. My family, the way that, you know, I want to probably learn a couple things. New things to cook this month too. So maybe it's like I want to advance my cooking abilities. You know, I might go and jump into a master class and learn some More cooking things with, with Altier Krynn. And, you know, it's like you just got to connect to the things that bring you joy, that light you up, that get you excited, to get you motivated, that encourage you. Boom. Those are life essentials. And then I have, like, things that I'm learning and growing. Right. Executive leadership, how I can be a better team member. You know, I've just been incredibly blessed and trained to integrate these things into, like, how I like to live and how I like to show up and how I like to do these things. So like you, if this is overwhelming or if you feel like you want to dial it back, just pick one thing that you can do in your advancing. Pick one thing that you could do in your starting. You know, keep it simple and then you can build on that skill set. You know, I've been doing this for years and years and years with high performing teams and environments. But you can get there. You know, just take your time and then come back every week. We'll make these things happen. We'll help you get focused and we'll support you here at Growth Day. All right, the things that I'm starting. Let me go back over here. All right, so I'm going to click the sidebar things that I'm starting. And this is going to be really fun because I'm just, you know, a B. And you have to hit return in order to get to the next line. ABCD and new experiences, our new enterprise features. So new enterprise features we have, new striver enhancements, we have. What else? Oh, I'm preparing for like an actual live workshop that I'm doing in November. So be preparing the handouts and deliverables for that. I can share that. And I'm also going to start printing and finishing printing Playbook. All right, so these are some big things that I need to do and accomplish that I will start this upcoming month. And the same thing goes like, now I have all three of these things. I'm going to go ahead and delete this last one. That main task that I don't need. So I have these three major intentions. Does everybody follow me? Yes. Yes. Okay. Cool, cool, cool. Oh, my brother's going to love that. Oh. So Audrey, do I limit to four on purpose? No, but just for the training purposes and just how like I'm really. Like I said earlier, like you could have 10 things that you have inside of the things you're maintaining. This is. The purpose of this is to help you, give you a framework of how you can set Your next month up for success. And also tie it in with the WHOOP framework, where you're actually going in and you're thinking about like, how do you. Like what we already did with the wish, which is like, the things that you want to achieve, the things that you want to start, the things you want to advance. That's kind of like a wish. And that's like the first W of the WHOOP framework. The second one was getting crystal clear about the outcome. Like, the outcome for these is like, I'm maintaining, I'm starting and I'm finishing. So I have really incredible clarity about the things that I want to accomplish and things I want to finish, the things I want to start. That clarity has given me confidence and it's also going to give me the courage because I know what I'm going to do when I show up. But the problem is if I don't know when I'm going to do that, because remember that when I do this, then I will execute this, then it might not happen. So now that we have a clear crystal outcome of what we want to do, all these things that I just listed out now what we could do with the WIP framework is identify that obstacle. So what are things right now? And you can put it in the chat or put it in your notes, like, what are some things that might stop you or block you from getting these things going, like finishing these things. And I'm gonna just straight out call out in the chat and, you know, in the meantime, I'm gonna also stop sharing my screen. So I hope this was helpful just to do a quick screen share, maintaining, advancing and those elements. But like, what are the things right now that could get in your way and stop you from accomplishing your October? The success that you want to have in October. Right. Could be that I'm going to lose focus. Maybe I have lack of clarity, I have uncertainty about where I'm, you know, going to be, maybe financially or I'm. I'm. Or I have a new, new projects could come up that I'm not prepared for, you know, so I might need to like, really set clear boundaries with my, you know, team and leadership team or whatever. So I have clear obstacles. Yeah, exactly, exactly. But now what we did today was we created a very basic themed plan. We have an idea. And the magical thing about this is you could, even if you don't want to do like starting, advancing, and things that you're maintaining, then you could just have like literally one list for October and there's five Things in October that you're just. These five things are the most important things that you want to do. You write those five things out, you give them due dates, and then you figure out when you're going to accomplish these things. And the when is important, which I'm going to shift right into right now. And the when is important because the win is how you execute. Execution is the absolute thing that will set you apart from people that don't really execute very well or that struggle with getting things done. And execution for me has been really what has allowed me to have more opportunities. It's given me the ability to try new things and it's given me the confidence, courage to try. And this quick little thing that I'm going to show you right now is kind of the way that I like to really execute. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to jump over and show you. Let's see if I can switch my screen here to overview. All right, so you're seeing over top of my desk. Hello everybody. This is me, thumbs up. And what I'm gonna do right now I have this, this little worksheet. And what I want you to do is open up a sheet of paper if you have one. If you don't have one, it's fine. It's my trackpad. And what we're gonna do is I'm gonna draw figure eight. All right, so everybody see the figure eight. All right, so the first thing that I'm going to write up here in the top left. And this what we're going to do is we're going to create what I would call a growth loop. So I'm going to make, I'm going to zoom in on this a little bit more. Zoom. There we go. I know the quality might be not that great, but that's okay. So the first thing at the top is reflection. Okay. Then we're going to come down at the bottom and write, train and execute or train and practice. Let's do practice. And if you can't read my handwriting, just know that this one's reflection and this one's training and practicing. Then at the top we're going to have learn and in the bottom left we're going to have plan and action. Alright, cool. So we have these things, hopefully everybody can see this. And the really important thing to know about this is, is all this things. This is essentially everything that you can do inside of the Growth day app. You can reflect with the journal and the life scores. And reflection is important right because the reflection is going to help you navigate. It's going to help you navigate where, like, what's most important to you and where you like, you know, journaling and giving a benchmark of where you want to be. Then after you reflect on like, where you're currently at, like with life scores, right, Then you can come in and train and practice, right? We give you recommendations and videos and things that you can go and be like, oh, yeah, my productivity is a little low. What am I doing in my productivity? What could I do be doing a little bit better? Because this growth loop is designed to help you have a continuous loop of growth. Right? Growth loop makes total sense, right. Growth loops allow you to stay intentional about how you're staying connected to these four things, these four key elements of growth, reflection, and then training and practicing, like working on the thing that you need to learn. You know, maybe this is watching a course inside of the app or maybe this is going out and watching courses on YouTube or on just whatever it is, you know, masterclass, skillshare, lynda.com, linkedIn, learning. Well, lynda.com is no longer but having a way for you to train and practice. Then now that we have training and practice, then we're actually going in and we've learned and we're able to actually, we're actually really able to understand what it is that we've been practicing and training for. And now we're also doing that and being able to like finish, finish these up. We're really trying to, you know, this could also be like, we're learning, but like, the training and practicing is the same reason why teams and professional sports and like I was an athlete my entire life. I still consider myself an athlete. I'm just training and building world class products now, but I still do physical and soccer and everything else with my family. But you got to be able to practice new things. And then the learning side of this is like you're exposed to different ways of training, different ways of making something work, different ways of cooking, different ways of planning and executing things. And then we come back down. And now what we're doing right now is we're planning, we're taking action, we're actually going to execute and do these things. But what do you think happens inside of these two big giant circles? A lot happens, right? So here I'm going to. You can draw a line. And what I want you to do in your own time is I want you to think about how you would fill up these blocks and I know because I've been doing this for a long time. I have one extra line here for my reflections. But how do you fill your gaps? How do you do it? Like, what are the things that you do? And I'm gonna fill in my blanks with you so you can understand me a little bit more. But this right here is how I try to stay intentional and focused on the things that are actually going to move me forward. So the first thing that I have inside of my Learn Train bucket, this half is I have wellness. The things that you do every single day, every single week, every single month that are going to support your wellness, that could be meditation, it could be coming to the Growth Day app and like just listen to Daily Fire. You do it for yourself to get motivated, to get encouraged. And then you have a really good sense of like, how am I taking care of myself for learning? I'm watch, watching, I'm reading and I'm listening. I have podcasts, I have blogs that I read. I have things that just like are things that I'm interested in and those are the things that I focus on right then for training, practicing. I have my practice, practice schedules, I have my play schedules, and then I have my participate. Participate is like the things that you're doing right now. You're in a growth group, you're taking initiative. You're actually here to like gain a whole other level of awareness for how you could use this app better or how you could spend your time. I hope you're finding value in this session so that you're getting more insights about how you can practice, play and participate and do the things that are going to help you learn and grow as you train and practice. And then the most important thing on the side is I still have to show up and execute because if I'm not showing up and executing and I'm not doing the things a part of my like that live inside of this bucket, then how am I going to actually make any advancements? How am I gonna actually move things forward? I'm not, I'm just gonna like be in a constant state of non advancement. But really this other side is how I end up doing this really well. So I have weekly one on ones with my team, with my family, with my friends. I pick up the phone, I call them, I text them, I message them. These are the ways that I connect to people with my intention. I have weekly status updates. This is what I do for work. For work. I have a weekly status update where it helps me stay. What are the things I'm advancing, what are the things I'm moving forward, what is my updates to that I can give to my leadership team. Weekly status updates help me do that. So it's a non negotiable thing that I have to have. And I want you to think about what you would fill into yours. And this one on one, so important. Then I have again another side of execution and outcomes like we were talking about with the Woop framework. I have execution and outcomes because even though I have these big giant block times during the week and I'm filling these up and I'm doing a lot of execution, I still need to put things over the finish line. Every time I sit down and have like a two to three hour block time of getting something done, I still have like a little like 5, 10, 15% of something that I have to finish. I have a specific window in my week where I finish things off. And that's what we do with Friday finishers. That's what here at Growth Day, if you're in a community, you'll see Friday finishers. This is an opportunity for you to really push things over the finish line. You can create a plan called Friday Finishers and those are the things you're absolutely going to finish. But by the end of the day, Friday. And for me, I have this little bucket window where I do that. And then another thing that I have in here is my planning sessions. So I had a planning session usually in the morning, part of my morning routine where I'm connect, I know my handwriting there is terrible. Sorry. But I have this morning window where I connect to my intention. I get incredibly excited about the things that I'm going to do for the day. My top three priorities of the day, what intention I'm going to set. That's where I go with my planning. And then I connect my planning with my priorities. If I don't have priorities and I don't know what's the top of the list A to Z, then I'm just gonna be flailing and doing random stuff. But I really wanna understand what my priorities are and pair it with my planning sessions. That allows me to stay focused on the top priorities. And then this last bucket is where I'm journaling and where I'm benchmarking. And I journal and I benchmark because benchmarking allows me to know what success looks like and where I'm currently at. And life scores allow you to bench. My handwriting is getting worse. But benchmarking allows you to know where you're at life scores helps you benchmark, and journaling allows you to stay intentional with things that you're learning about your emotions and feelings and the things that you're developing within yourself. And this, my friends, is the growth loop and something that just absolutely changes the game. And I'm really curious. I'm really curious what your growth loops are. Oh, I can share. Oh, Audrey, I don't know. Oh, are there transcripts for this training? I'm not capturing at all. It's totally fine. I am recording this session here. I'll come back to you. I am recording the session, but I will have to put it in post production. If you find this interesting and you want to re watch this and learn more about this, I just recorded the. My audio and my video for this, but this little growth loop right here is what we just created. And y', all, I hope this was really helpful for you as you step in to your October baby. It's gonna be super fun. And we have like a minute and fifty seconds. Does anybody want to just come up real quick or anybody want to share? Like, if this was helpful, if this was something that you. You. You found insightful, I'd love to hear it. And I know we don't much time, but then we can also hear from it in the community. If you did like this session, let us know in the community and then I'll make sure that I repost this video for people that want to see it and hope this was really helpful. Hope it. Hope it. Hope you feel support. Oh, Audrey's coming. Here, let me make you both speakers and then we'll just kind of jam. I'm making you speakers. Come on up. Unmute. Hey.
Hello.
Hey, what's up? What's up? How are you doing? Oh, so good. So good. Thanks for. Thanks for showing up today. And was there any big takeaways? We have a minute left, so it's got to be rapid fire.
Your. Your growth loop is just amazing and fabulous, really, and life changing. It's the first time I see something like this, but really, really helpful. And. And the way you. You structure also maintaining, advancing, and starting will help me a lot. So thank you so much. Very valuable.
Amazing. Thank you so much. Thank you so much.
Thank you, Drew, for all you do. And you know, I'm. I'm not a very good planner, so you're very inspirational to me and keep up the good work. Thank you.
Thank you so much for saying that. Cannot wait to see you all advance in this. And I gotta tell you, it is like here, Ganesh. I'm gonna bring you up, buddy. And it's like, it's something that you get better at every single week. The more you think about it and you become a better chess player, you know, you're playing better planning chess with your life. Oh, my gosh. So he's gone. I don't think he made it, but we're leaving. This is the end. See ya. So I hope you enjoyed that growth group. This growth group was one of my favorites because planning is one of those things that really take you to the next level. And it also is something that's so underutilized and so under planned and intentional. So I want to encourage you, next time that you go into a planning session, remember, you can set yourself up for success with defining your growth loop, defining things that you're starting, things that you're advancing, and things that you're finishing or things that you just really, really want to just up level in your practice. You want to maintain those things. So have a beautiful rest of your day, and I will see you in the next growth group.
