This is a short video episode (Practical UX Weekly) by Drew Bridewell introducing guidance on how to build a business case to invest in a design system. The speaker emphasizes the need for rigor—operations, governance, audits, and organization—to secure resources and ensure a design system is executed properly, not just a library of components.

Hey everybody, Drew Bridewell here and I have an update for you this week on my weekly series on Lynda.com and LinkedIn learning. And again, it's Practical UX Weekly. If you have not yet checked it out, there are 45 episodes from 40 on season one and about five on season two and tons of rich content in there. So definitely check that out. Lynda.comdrewb or you can go to my LinkedIn profile and see all the links and subscribe stuff I have in there as well. So this week's episode is about building a case to invest in design systems. That's right, building a case. Because oftentimes we're like, oh yeah, we need a design system, but we're not putting that rigor in place to make sure that it's going to actually get executed. The right resources are going to be involved to make it happen and to make sure you're organized so you know what you're doing when it comes to getting that buy in. Because you can't just show up with a sketch, file a bunch of components and say, we have a design system. There's operations, there's governance, there's audits that need to happen in order for you to be organized and mindful of all the things that go into a true design system. So I'm going to talk about that rigor this week and I hope you enjoy it. And if you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to me. I'm pretty available. And if I'm not traveling or doing something, then I'll be sure to get back with you. All right, hope you enjoy and I'll see you next time. Bye.
