When we get back from thanking our sponsors, the My First Million podcast features famous guests, discusses how companies made their first million, and brainstorms new business ideas based on the hottest trends and opportunities in the marketplace. One recent EP was all about how venture capitalists make money. Listen to My First Million Wherever you get your podcasts, Drew, say what's up to Fire Nation and share something interesting about yourself that most people don't know.
Yeah, so something's interesting and most people don't know is that I am actually a lucid dreaming machine. I've been lucid dreaming since I've been five years old and I literally go into Dreamtime at night and come up with ideas, inventions similar to Tesla and a lot of people throughout our time. So if you want to leverage both the waking day and your dream state, that's the way to do it. Most people don't know that, so this.
Is why I like asking this question. Because I've known Drew Fire Nation for years now and I always find something out that I don't know about people when I ask this question and I just love that. So that is super cool. Since you were 5 years old, a lucid dreamer and Fire Nation. As I teased in the intro, this is an audio masterclass that is going to have value bombs being dropped left and right. We are talking about how to break free from limiting beliefs and radically shift the course of your life. And if that masterclass title doesn't grip you, Fire Nation, I don't know what will. So hang on tight. This is going to be great and you're going to want to Stick around till the end, because Fire Nation, we're going to be going in depth about Drew's new book, Ubu. And I can't believe you got that dot com, Drew. Ubu.com, you must have spent literally all of Organifi's profits over the past five years for that dot com, because it's an amazing dot com, but Fire Nation, Ubu is Drew's new book that is rocking it out there. And he's going to share something that he actually shared with me in the intro that I was very touched and honored by. But you're going to have to stick around for it, because, Drew, we're going to dive right in to the fact that you have not always lived a perfect life. In fact, you have quite a turnaround story. Tell us about that.
Yeah, so turnaround story essentially happened at a really young age. I mean, there's multiple turnaround stories in every entrepreneur's life. Right. So I think for the purpose of this podcast, my friend, we can just jump right into.
A big turnaround story that I had with Fitlife before we launched Organifi. And that was likened to a lot of entrepreneurs probably listening to this FitLife TV. We started about seven years ago, and we were losing close to $50,000 a month when Facebook stopped doing its organic reach. And I had to let a lot of my close friends and comrades go from the company because we just simply couldn't afford them. We couldn't make payroll. So for nine months, we were losing $50,000 every single month.
That's almost half a million dollars.
Yeah. And I was just eating a hole in our bank account from media spend and everything else. And this is only when we were probably making about 1 to 1.5 million, right?
Over a year.
Yeah, over a year. So it was very. I mean, a lot has changed since launching Organifi, but back then, it was significant. And I remember sitting around at the table and we had this massive interruption in the business and the turning point, like you said, and that was we all went around the table and there was like six of us at the time, and we talked about why we loved working at FitLife and being a part of the organization, the company, so much. And we shifted all the thoughts around not making payroll around, paying taxes, and all the fun stuff that we do as entrepreneurs into more of a gratitude state, which changed the energy. I felt it. And then another person at the table felt it as well, my CEO now, Jamel. And we all felt this energy shift and organifi came out two weeks after that. Wow. Literally, we sold out five times in a row. Our first PO was, like, for 3,000 bottles, and now we're ordering over 120,000 bottles a month. So it's been a crazy rollercoaster. But back then, that was one of the biggest turning points, and that was just shifting from all of the discordant thoughts about how we weren't going to make it into that of gratitude, as if we've already made it, and feeling that in our body, feeling the presence of already making it and then watching it unfold. And I think that's big as an entrepreneur if you can live in that state, dude, as you know, miracles upon miracles will start to happen to you.
So true. And you know that little commercial they have where they have this huge bag of sugar, and they start pouring it out, and they just say, if you drink, you know, Pepsi, like, a couple times a week over the course of a number of years, like, this is how much sugar you're going to be drinking. It's like this pile of sugar that's just so disgusting. Well, on the flip side to that, I would love to just be able to pour out in one pile the amount of organifi that I consumed over the past few years, because it is probably the size of my house, and I love it, Drew. So I just want to say thank you for having that vision, for having that dream, and for making lives of entrepreneurs like myself and then anybody else, of course, who's encountered your brand better, for obvious reasons. But this is the problem, and this is a huge problem, and it's limiting beliefs. So many people, I've had them, and listen, I still fight against them sometimes. I mean, it's a human psyche. It's a human trait to have limiting beliefs. We all kind of struggle with these things. But how can we reprogram that? How can we reprogram these limiting beliefs that are holding so many of us back?
Yeah, I think it's really getting clear on where it ultimately comes from. And as you know, when you do a lot of emotional intelligence work, it'll guide you back to the place where it's first started forming. And most of the time, all that happens before maturity. So before guys hit puberty, women hit puberty as well. We're forming beliefs about who we are that are not even our beliefs. So it'd be likened to me coming up to you, you've been building this house, this beautiful home in Puerto Rico, because I've been there, and we're going to use it as this analogy. And then the windows, and you've chosen the perfect LED lights. Like, I've never seen anything like this, right, guys? And I'm looking at this house and all of a sudden I come in and I'm like, you know what, John? But I don't really like the doors in this house and the music that you're playing at this dinner, this music is terrible, right? Like, what is going on with this music? I hate it. And then all of a sudden, you start to form impressions around yourself over the feedback that I've given you. So we are like magnets for this as children. And we just pick up so many limiting beliefs. We become indoctrinated by the labels that society puts upon us. And through this indoctrination, we weaken our personal power and what the Toltecs. I've been training with the Toltec shaman for the past 10 years, would call our seniority. So we're letting our seniority go day by day, out the window, losing our personal power. And when we do that, we tack on all kinds of limiting beliefs to us, limiting beliefs that don't allow us to play all out and live the life of our dreams. So to break free from those limiting beliefs, it's all about reclaiming your personal power. And the fastest way to do that is to get massively present momentedness and become so in the present moment that.
You almost transcend the 3D reality or the 3D box or the matrix, as some would say. We're all in the matrix as human beings. But when you're in a choice point of creation, you become the artist, as they say in ancient Toltec. And the artist is in the fourth dimension. So if you can live in a fourth dimensional state of being, that is a state of complete peace, presence, and serenity for what you're creating in the moment. And we're all artists. And I can totally love what you're creating in this life with this podcast and all the people that you've inspired. I've watched you for years, and you are an amazing artist and as am I and everybody that's listening to this. So it's a form of oneness almost that allows all the other limiting beliefs that we have about ourselves and everyone else to kind of dissipate and life becomes so much better. And I talk about that in the book Fire Nation.
I hope you're consuming and absorbing those words. Drew said it. I believe it. I'm going to repeat it. You, Fire Nation, are an amazing artist. You are an amazing artist. Now, you have those limiting beliefs. We all have these limiting beliefs. Release them and be the amazing artist that you are. And speaking of your book, Drew, you use this word whydentity. I've never seen it, never heard it. Maybe you made it up. You can kind of maybe talk about that. But what is widenity and how do we craft one of worth?
So whydentity is if your why for why you're living and your identity had a baby, it would be whydentity.
Essentially, you got to identify yourself, as I like to say, that is coming up with something that just springboards you out of bed. I know as entrepreneurs, we've kind of hit neutral in life, and we can get in these padded cells of complacency, and we just continue to go on the rigmarole of doing the same thing over and over. Like in Groundhog's Day with Tom Hanks. Great movie.
We don't realize the power that we have because we're not living from our why. And if we really knew how short life was, let's say we live to be 180 because we've been drinking copious amounts of organifi. But the average person lives or 80, right? Like, that's a really short time to make a huge difference on this planet. And I think the most successful people that I've ever talked to are people that live with urgency, like into yourself. You take action, you do the things that you love. And that comes from having a strong identity. Why do you want what you want? And that is maybe a goal for business. It can be a goal in your physical fitness, like you and I both had. It can be a goal for your relationship. You know, why do you want to be married in the next year? And really understanding that and then asking specific questions tied to what some people would call neuro linguistic programming that can anchor it in your body and your mind to really feel it, to go into the imaginary space of visualization. So why do you want it? What do you want to hear from your friends? Would be a question to ask, what does it feel like in your body? Because feeling is the secret. It's not the law of attraction. It's the law of can I feel the frequency and then attract the frequency at which I'm feeling? And then what do you want your friends to say? And then the vision, what do you want to see? Whatever that is. So if it's $10 million, be specific about it. $10 million in your account, whatever it is. When you start to create your identity and live from that place, life starts to change. And maybe it's having grandchildren 20 years from now that you want to be agile enough to throw a football around with them or whatever it is. Right? So starting your day with your whys is super powerful, and we talk about it in the book as well.
Ask why Fire Nation. I feel like everything that's vague and just not really specific in life is because people aren't asking that question. They're not asking why. When you ask why and then you get an answer, and then you ask why again, and you get an answer, and you keep going down 3, 4, 5, 6 levels, you're gonna get to the real why, and it's gonna be crystal clear. It will be a formed thought that you can then pursue for the right reasons. Because you've asked one simple question. Why so critical? Now, Drew, you've been to my home down here in Puerto Rico. You know that my pool is not insubstantial. And if I was to empty that entire pool again, I would be able to fill up that entire pool with the amount of organifi that I've consumed over the years, because it's just part of my daily ritual. I mean, it really is. But the point I'm trying to make here is good health. It needs to be the foundation of every single goal that we have. You know it, I know it. Tell Fire Nation why. They need to know it too.
Yeah, I love this, because for me, health. When you're not feeling good, what do you feel like doing? Like, would you be inspired to do this podcast day in and day out? And you stack the schedule, too. I've seen it. You got, like, eight interviews, 10 interviews a day, right?
Yes.
So if you have a headache, if your hips blown out or your shoulder's sore or you got inflammation in your body, do you really feel like doing that much throughout the day?
No. I want Doritos, a couch, and Netflix.
Exactly. Got all these people that are in pain that don't feel good. They got sinus stuff, they're congested a little bit. Their mental clarity is out the window, and it's simply because they haven't made the right choices over the last 24 to 48 hours to create a good foundation of health. And I believe so strongly that the body is such a miracle of a machine, and if you just give it a few of the right things, not only the right nutrition, but the right thoughts, that's a big thing. Psychological inflammation is real. So if you're stressed out all the time or you have a Thousand thoughts that create a trash can in your brain that's not going to be useful either. So you can shift that quickly. And when you shift that, then you can make more empowered decisions. And those empowered decisions can actually help detoxify your life, which we talked about in the first section of the book. And detoxifying your life requires you to really go deep and understand what foods, what nutrition you've been eating, but also, even more importantly, what thoughts have really been forcing your body to go after those certain food groups and not really live into your true potential to have the energy and the enthusiasm and the stamina to work and go with what you want to go with and really create what you want to create.
Fire Nation. There's a couple of things I really want to highlight there. Number one, I loved that phrase, Drew. I don't think I've ever heard that either before. Which is psychological influence. Inflammation is real. Fire Nation. Psychological inflammation is real. When you're feeling stress, anxiety, that is psychological inflammation. That is real. That is going to screw with your day. And the other thing I wanted to pick up on is how amazing our body is. I mean, how many people in this world, the high percentage of people that treat their body like absolute crap, yet the body still shows up and performs and by the way, is just waiting, begging for you to finally do right by it so it can actually perform at a high level. I mean, it's getting by, but it's not getting by at a high level, but it's just waiting for you. I mean, when we fill up our car with gas, we have that, you know, it's this clear liquid. There's nothing in there. But what if we, like, mixed up Cheetos and syrup and we dump it into our car? Our car doesn't run. It smokes. It explodes. It's done. But we do that to our bodies every single day. We need to think, we need to realize the body is amazing if we let it be amazing. And Fire Nation, we have so many value bombs coming. When we get back from thanking our sponsor. The new year is here. And my guess is that you have big goals set for you and your sales team over the coming months. From new projects to bringing in more leads, a new year can often feel like a totally new start. But let's not forget the most important part. Learn more about how you can transform your customer experience with a HubSpot CRM platform at HubSpot. So Drew, we're back. And everybody myself. I mean we focus on the conscious mind. It is such a focus of all of ours. What are you thinking about? What are we doing? But there is so much power in mastering the subconscious. But where does one even start? Good question.
You know, I think for me it happened at a really young age, which in dreamtime I really like I said, I mean, that's one of my weird things that I've been doing my whole life. But when I was five, I was first given access to lucid dreaming. I realized that I was the dreamer in the dream.
And can you maybe kind of define lucid dreaming? I know lucid means clear, but what specifically does that break down to?
Yeah, so lucid dreaming is essentially when you wake up in the dream and you realize that you're dreaming, but you also have access to your body so you can control your heart and your breathing as normal, knowing that you're asleep in your meat suit somewhere, like you're in your bed. Right. And then also being able to go into a dream space and create whatever you want to create. Now, they've done MRIs on this, and what they found is that your brain is 50,000 times more active during a lucid dream than it is during a conscious state. So you're getting access to your full mind, the subconscious mind and the conscious mind, and actually access points to the divine mind if you want to go there. But we could spend another week on this podcast talking about that. So when you start to realize how powerful the subconscious mind is, not only in dream space, but also during the awakened day, you start to choose things differently. And one of the biggest things is what types of thoughts am I putting into my mind day in and day out? And if you're putting thoughts of defeat, of discord, of disease, of any uneasiness and anxious thoughts, I got to go on social media to get validation type thoughts. And you're consistently doing that, you are Robbing yourself of your greatest gift for me at a really young age. And I know I shared this on the other show, maybe, but there's all types of stuff that happens to us when we're young and throughout our lives that can kind of hold us back on a subconscious level. And that is, if you've ever been. If you've ever had trauma, you've been like me. I was tortured. I was neglected. I was physically abused. And I'm not telling you these things or any listener to this to make me. I don't want you to feel sorry for me. But also, this is a learning lesson for me. I could have continued to go throughout my life feeling like I was alone, like I wasn't good enough to be loved. Like, money would be the answer to all my situations and problems that I was up against. Like, a lot of entrepreneurs probably feel.
Especially male, young, male entrepreneurs. Like, we think that if we can just make a ton of money, it'll solve all of our issues. I know. I. And in letting go of that and realizing that I'm far more powerful than any external situation. And once I started to master my subconscious mind, my life started to change dramatically. So the fastest way that I know how to do that is to really start putting what you want to create in that space. So if you're in my office, I'm a freak. I got sticky notes everywhere that reinforce what I want to see in my subconscious. And every week, they're a revolve. I got notifications that pop up in my phone. I have kind of like a hypnosis induction that I listen to of my voice talking to myself at night before I go to bed. I'm like, I'm over the top with this subconscious mind stuff, but I know that it works. And I've seen the fruits of my labor, like, time and time again. I've literally had a sticky note in my shower over the past seven years, ever since starting FitLife. And I've gone up in revenue. I used to have sticky notes where my daily goal was to make 1,000 bucks a day, and then 10,000 and then 50,000 and then 100,000 and 150, and then $200,000 a day, and it continues to rise. But unless I'm putting that on my subconscious mind and making a request from the genie, more or less, then it doesn't show up in my reality. I think a lot of times people fall off the wagon of ambition, as Robert Collier says, and they don't really apply themselves to the level in which they can. And if you're serious about success, subconscious is the way to go for sure.
Now, let's keep things PG here, But if you know that you're dreaming and you're actually in that dream state, what's one cool thing that you purposely did during a dream? I think I would go dunk a basketball. Because I've always had a dream of wanting to dunk a basketball, but I've never done it in a dream because I can't control my dreams.
Yes. So basketball is awesome. Being able to dunk a basketball is incredible. I mean, there's so much you can do. You could fly if you wanted to.
Oh, that's cool, too.
You could travel to different galaxies, different dimensions, some would say different planets that have life. I've talked to different beings in different star systems, and then I wake up and I'm like, was that real?
Whoa. Whoa.
Yeah. Like, talk to guides in different places and ask them questions. Do past life regression in your dreams so you can actually see where you were in your past lives?
Ooh, I would love to go back to Egypt back during King Tut. That'd be so cool.
You can go there, dude. And it just takes a little bit of focus and setting the right intention before bed. And you can literally turn your dream space into the most vivid educational experience you've ever had in your life. And it's something that we all have access to. I'm not special. I'm not gifted in this. It's just something that I've trained, like, training in the gym, and it's insane. You can take other people with you in dream space as well. Like, my girlfriend and I travel together all the time, and then we wake up and we talk about her version of what she saw.
Now, has she ever had a lucid dream before she met you?
She had, but not as many. Like, I think there's certain people that activate people's dream time, too. As a company at Organifi, there's a group of us that we have a dream group, and we sit around like little nerds talking about Star wars and dreams.
It's awesome because you can actually see the more you wake up in dreamtime, the more you wake up from my experience in reality, and you become awake in this daydream that we call life becomes a sacred dream. And that's the walk of a medicine man or medicine woman or a shaman, as the Toltecs will explain.
Now, do you meditate?
Absolutely.
What do you personally find is powerful about meditating?
For me, likened to you, you and I are very. If we looked at our ayurvedic type, it would probably be very pitta. Meaning that we're very fiery, we have a thousand thoughts. We do, do, do, do, do we get more done than most people do in a year.
I do live by the phrase I get more stuff done before 9am than the world does all day.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you and I. I mean, I wake up at probably 4:00', clock, 4:30 in the morning, and I'm just hustling. Right. I've had my caffeine and my coconut oil and my L theanine for my nootropic, and I'm just ready to go. Right. Similar to you. But the problem with that is you and I have a hard time slowing down.
Yeah.
And when we slow down, that's when you can go into that meditative space and silence your mind. So there's a difference between speaking from the silence, because I can still talk like this and inspire impact, empower. Likened to you, like with what you do every day. But when it's coming from the void or it's coming from spirit, it's much more empowering and powerful. And that's absent of the ego or the 3D Drew, that shows up time and time again and wants the attention. And that's like, hey, look at me, look at me, look at me. Look at my success. It's like completely absent of that. And I think that's when people start to become their God realized self. I think we can go into a whole spiritual talk, but that's not the purpose of this. It dramatically shifts people and lives.
So I kind of want to use the last part.
Drew.
I was just like, huh. I'm really shocked about that actually. You know, where I want to go with this right now is let me think for a second. What would you recommend for somebody who wants to start meditating and hasn't ever meditated? I mean, you're advanced, you're down the line. But what if we just want to try for maybe the first time or one of the first few times to really sit down? What would you recommend?
Yeah, I wouldn't even really focus on meditating per se, because I believe there's meditation in every moment throughout the day and in every experience. So what I would focus on is legitimately what I call, and you've probably heard of this before, but something like alternate nostril breathing. So just becoming aware of your breath and how powerful it is. So you breathe in for five or six seconds through one nostril, and then you breathe out for five or six seconds through the other. And as you do this, you do it for about 24 minutes in the beginning. And over time, you become more focused on how your body feels in that moment and how the breath actually impacts every cell in your body. So. And then if you drift off, if you're thinking about business or how many downloads your podcasts are getting or whatever it is, right? Then you just return quickly to your breath with no judgment. And I learned this from a woman, a Yucatan medicine woman. I was in the Yucatan jungle for, like, a week, sleeping in a hut. It was, like, 95 degrees. It was terrible. But one of the takeaways was before bed, every night, you do this breathing, and you see an eagle flying over your day. And as you're observing from the eagle's perspective, if there's any judgment, you start over and do it again until you can get to the end of the day with no judgment about yourself, because we're so busy doing that as humans.
You know, one way that I've really been able to do that nostril breathing effectively is I kind of picture, like, a blue smoky mist, like, floating below my nose, and I just focus on inhaling in one nostril. I just picture the blue mist coming up, and then I picture a different green mist kind of coming out. And so, like, that's kind of how I've been able to visualize and kind of get my body to mentally get into that kind of single nostril breathing. So definitely check it out. Fire Nation is something that I've definitely used and found legit success from, and I would love to hear if you do, too. Now, Drew, I want to take the end part of this interview right here and talk about your book. You be you. I mean, this is a book that's kind of a culmination of your life traveled thus far. Talk about the book and really why it applies to people like Fire Nation, our listeners today.
Yeah, I think. Thanks for asking that, my man. And it's definitely a passion project and something that a lot of the principles, exercises, and tools that are in the book I've actually used to help me grow my business.
And impact millions of people's lives. I mean, we shipped out a million bottles of organifi last year, and hadn't I done the work of the stuff that's in Ubu to really go on that journey inward and discover who I am so that I can be a light onto other people in the company? I don't think we would be where we are today because the ego pulls us all over the place, my man. It really is quite, it's quite a trip when we're living from ego versus living to help other people and not making about us because it was never about me. In the whole creation of Organifi. I mean we're ultimately trying to make nutrition as convenient as possible for everyone. And the principles of getting rid of the limitations in your mind of detoxing your life, getting rid of the food that's holding you back energetically and then allowing you to live from your. Why even if you get just that, just one thing out of this whole entire book, it's worth it because it'll change your life completely. And many of the first time readers that have the book, I got like 50 copies from Hay House, the publisher and they're reading it and I'm just hearing remarkable shifts and how much work they're getting done. And it's coming from a place of inspiration versus like I have to or like this is how I make money. It's really cool to see these men and women opening up to their true potential and living from that space. Super powerful.
Wow. Well, I love all this. And where's are people going to be able to pick up the book when it is available and like where do you want people to go?
Yeah, so ububook.com when you go there, you can get. I got a ticket. If you're in San Diego, you got to show up because I want to meet you face to face. But it's a live event that I have. When you order two books, you get a free ticket to that. I have a bonus checklist, Self love manifesto checklist and then also a six part video series. Some of the stuff that I've talked about in the book extended. And over the next week I'm adding some meditations to start your day, to end your day, to really work with your subconscious mind and put you in a place of mastering your own, your own destiny and your own life with some of this information as well. So when you go to ububook.com if you order two or more books, you get the bonuses plus the live event ticket, which is pretty cool.
So that's ububook.com correct.
Ububook.com you got it.
Love it. Well, what I want to do right now, Drew, before we say goodbye, is have you just give one key takeaway from this entire audio masterclass and it can be pulled from the book, it can be pulled from another conversation that we Have. But just give one thing that if Fire Nation just had an absolute mind blank and they forgot everything else that we talked about, which would of course be devastating. But if they did, what's one thing you want him make sure that we, the listeners, walk away with? Yeah.
I think one of the things that I love about this is, and after helping thousand young men and women that are entrepreneurs, that are really trying to do big things in this life, is when I first recognized from one of my mentors, Frank, and this was probably a decade ago, that the credit and the debt settlement and the mortgage company that I was running at the time, I was really doing it to make money. Yeah. And I wasn't doing it because I loved it every single day. And when I really.
And I. I go through this in the book as well, but how to create your own, like death and go through your own funeral. When I did that, it completely changed how I saw time and how I was able to apply what I really wanted to do in my life, which was help people with their health. But at the time, I was 40 pounds overweight and out of shape and lazy and lethargic. But building upon that, widenity really shifted because it wasn't about me anymore. It was about helping as many people as possible.
